| | FR No More by LemOn[5thF], March 26
In my previous post I told you I am going to alter my rolls to FR NL10 Stars and SH NL2 iPoker.
And the reason for playing the FR was that it makes me money and gives me the freedom of ignoring my BR at NL2 SH.
But today I tried to play NL5 SH on Stars, and I was so sucked in the game that I ignored my BR anyways and just played and played.
So now it seems I will follow your advice and just focus on one mode -SH.
I will not play NL10 as I need more BI's for SH play (I will keep it around 27 and buy-in for more as I increase my BR)
I was good at FR NL10, I felt I played my best game ever and for the first time in my poker progress I was overplaying the expected value with my very decent ABC Poker, but it gets VERY boring when I run bad.
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/1328/65840217.png
And Bad I ran, believe me What could go wrong did, and the busted KK's, top sets and flushes on turn were just sick. I enjoy poker when I play SH, no matter how much I lose as I always have some action and there is lot to observe.
I might throw in some FR when I build my SH BR to NL10, but right now I will just focus on playing shorthanded on 4 tables.

Is fucking awesome
I've moved here indefinately, and plan to stay for a long, long time.
What can I say, the games are soft, the girls are hot as hell, I got laid in my first 2 hours in vegas, and everythings sooooooo nice
since its all FR in the casino's, I'm going to play only FR online as well now too, I'm starting with $200 and playing on 20 bi up to nl100 and going to ceiling there til I have 10-12k and play 1/2 after that (im only gonna play online a little bit, starting at NL10.
I'm totally in love with this city and my roommates (quoc04 on LP) and Antony (a real cool guy that lives here) are both fcking awesome people
hrm, theres deepstacked tournaments starting in beginning of april, im real excited 4 them
i met Joe, the leader of the PPA, and talked with him for about 4 hours yesterday
I had some leak at fr my first day out here, kinda expected to run over the tables
took day 2 off, went over my strategy and now just playing pure ABC + best hand poker, and have been winning since
Going to the hard rock to play right now
My normal casino is the venetian, if you ever stop in, or are coming to vegas, send me a msg on LP!
I'll be postin nl10 hands for now as im workin my way up the fr ladder for the first time in a long time
Hope all is well in LP land
much <3

| | Out of the hole.... by 4kinggenius, March 26
So I have been putting in some hours recently and think I have been playing pretty good and not being sucked out on too much but even when I do I have been keepoing my discipline and not tilting (too much). Gettin regular breaks to keep concentration etc etc
I thought that as I didnt have much on today I would put some hands in and increase the BR.
However the dreaded bad run started and within the first 600 hands found myself down 6 BI - I had tried everything from table selection, moving tables, taking breaks when I was running bad etc etc.
Decided there was only one way out of it and so I had to stick with it...

That was hard work....

| | Finding my teeth by Uptown, March 26
After talking with KillthemDonks and Night2o1 for a good length of time over the state of my game, a revelation was made. I had lost all the aggression I used to have in my days of naivete.
It all dawned on me when I called with 98ss from the CO against a reasonable player, flop came KQxss, he cbet, I raised 3.5x, he folded. Standard stuff. But it occurred to me that it had been AGES since I had semibluff raised like this with authority and conviction. I would occasionally bluff taggy players with air on dry boards, usually to no avail. And why should it have worked, when I myself had no faith in the bets I was making!?!?
Nothing is worse than fake aggression without force. Villains can just "tell".
Good things happen when you are aggressive. I might as well fail being aggressive, than fail while being passive and weak tight like I've been recently, wrought out of the fear of getting check raised, the fear of valuetowning myself, the fear of....
The danger is that I may fall into the pit of the aggrodonk, spewing away money in horrible spots. Hopefully it won't come to that, but even aggrodonking money away probably beats being a TAGFISH.
Here's a hand that is probably misplayed, but you get away with shit like this when you're aggressive and forcefull with your bets against the right opponents.

I played like 11 tables, and then later I started adding one NL50 table for some fast VPP's, and of course I had to run like dogshit there, losing straight the first allin haha but w/e.
NL 50 table. LOL

| | Stake me by Robinson47, March 26
leg 4 of the Grovesnor UK poker tour starts in the middle of april and i want in on the main event, its a £1060 buy in and the standard of opponents is weak but £1060 is a bit much for me so im looking to sell about 40 percent, ive played 3 before and no cashes but i feel really comfortable playing them now, unlike the first time i played i was a bit ropey. Its definately +ev to stake me........
So selling blocks of ten percent for £106*1.4555= $154.28, pm me if interested

| | Taking up a new challenge... by MasterofLaw, March 26
Today I'm back at the office again, but it's a pretty soft morning so I've decided to write a few lines about a new challenge that I wondering about taking up....
For new readers my first challenge was not to tilt and through stable BRM build a new bankroll. Pretty much breaked that promise on the 5th day and are currently on a breakeven result since last friday. Got tilted by some real coolers yesterday...
Anyhow, when I was surfing the net today I came across some medical sites about Snuf(sw."Snus", nicotinpouches you put under your upperlip)an realized that I use the same amount of nicotin, through snuf, as a smoker that smokes about 70-120 ciggarettes on ONE DAY!!!! That's pretty sick and kinda scared the shit out of me. Eventhough I know that the drawbacks on using snuf aren't as big as with smoking I anyway seriously thought I should quit. I also realized it would save me 2000-2500$$ in ONE YEAR!!!!
Think I should quit and each month deposit the amount on my pokeraccount instead. Anyone up for a propbet? Think it's like 100:1 that I will succeed, lol it's kinda strong shit.
Back to work again...

| | badbeats. by Zalfor, March 26
they happen, and they happen all the time. but never let it get you down. don't tilt and pick yourself back up.
today i ran into some pretty bad beats and some coolers, but overall i'm very satisfied with my nl50 game. I feel like i'm plowing people, and even if they luck out against me, I'm still up.
Anyways, i logged a 4k session today, +3BI. But what most intrigues me is that my redline is finally flattening out and even going up. This makes me very happy =).
I'll be taking some shots at nl100 beginning april, and hopefully will have around 40BIs around then. In the mean time, if anyone wants to msn me and talk about the game or anything else, pm me. =)
I wish i was hardcore like i was before spring break, playing 10k hands a day.
Oh! Life lesson. DONT EAT AT BUFFETS. I ate a buffet for lunch today, and could not function for the rest of the day. I really couldn't even play my A-game in poker, and waited 12 hours (until midnight) before starting my session. Good thing too, because i would've played like shit. So in lesson: don't eat buffets.

| | Tilt! by MasterofLaw, March 26
So it took me about 5 days to break my promise not to tilt. Lol I suck!
Lost about all my profit for the last days. Damn need to take advanced classes in anger- and tiltmanagement. Do you know where to sign-up?
Now I will focus on work for at least two days, play some live at the casino on friday and then once again begin a stable building of my new BR at the fishy NL25-level.
Whish me luck!

| | Im pathetic by Critterer, March 26
I've made over 2k at nl25 alone (80 buyins lol) and cashed a 2.8k donkament win...and im still underolled!! lolz
BR at $494 atm
One thing that i realised is that i don't put anywhere NEAR enough volume in. I genuinely feel my understanding of poker is actually pretty good im just holding myself back with pathetic amounts of hands+retarded cashouts.
In like 2 years of poker i've only played 250k hands and a tonne of those are from "rebuilding".
I get bored once i hit a downswing and just quit poker for like months at a time.
If i can step up and start putting in an average of 1k hands a day 12 tabling then mayb ill be able to succeed...

apparently they have a new cashout policy and i've been waiting for 1k$ cashout to pay my bills which ofcourse didn't arrive cuz of their new policy "must make 15% in FPP's if the money wasted transfered to you by an other player".
Now I have fucking lend money to pay the bils, and there is sincerely nothing i hate more then lending money...except pedophiles.
Fucking stars.

Played for 7 hours last night...slept for 6...relaxed a bit then put in another 4 or so hours tonight. Run good FTW. Finally back in major grind mode after blowing a giant chuck of my bankroll sports betting...mainly running horrendous losing ~10 games in the last 2 weeks by 2 points or less. But I digress...gonna hold off sports betting seriously probably until football season save for a few bets here and there. I've basically given my girlfriend permission to castrate me if she catches me sports betting so yeah...I'm done for a bit. So looook out poker world it's time to rape you. I wanted to get to 3-6 by the end of this year...now I'm back and focused on my goal.

| | Thanks maynard by NewbSaibot, March 25
So the other day I was questioning my ability to ever have discipline when I keep moving up prematurely. Well I was a little tight by loose bankroll standards. Wtf does that mean? It means I cant help but play with 10-15 buyins per limit, and for anyone with some skill and confidence, this is actually fine. I have neither, yet I act like I do. Therein lies the paradox. I'm too loose for normal BR management, and too tight for aggressive bankroll management. So someone told me to check out maynard's philosophies on MSNL bankroll mgm't, and of course I became all giddy with excitement and after meeting the requisite 8 BI rule, decided to take a shot at NL25. As most people commented, at these small stakes theres no real reason not to take shots since your roll is such a paltry amount of money in the first place, why hold yourself back indefinitely at NL2 (unless you are just starting out).
Anyway no drama here, had a good 1 buyin session, which is a nice confidence leveler for breaking in a new limit. I've played NL25 before (like most donks i've played a lot of limits, but hopefully THOSE days are behind me) so the bet sizes dont scare me or anything, albeit I did play a pretty weak tight game 25/15/4.3. I actually prefer to call this "picking my spots". Basically I engaged in hands which I deemed +EV, and if I felt I was ahead, I pounded fishy 50vpip villains for staying in with me. Hopefully as my BR increases so will my preflop aggressiveness. Nothing particularly special about this limit seen as of yet. I had a painfully aggressive strategy devised at NL2-NL10 that consisted of massive 5-6xBB raises preflop, full pot cbets and turn cbets, and big 5x raises vs opponents who donk out. I originally wrote that I will probably need to severely curtail this habit at NL25 as the money is starting to mean something to me now and I just dont feel like stacking off so frequently with the way I play.
Other than that, only note I have for today is one particular scenario I remember quite fondly from the days of yore, and that is the NL25 value bet. Yes I believe NL25 warrants it's own discussion around value betting tendencies. As I remember from 6-10 months ago, villains for some odd reason have a common tendency to value bet the nuts fucking weak as shit every single time. We're talkin puttin in $2.50 on the river into a $15 pot with a set of kings and shit. I remembered it then and I see it now, same ole shit, which is fine by me I guess. It does make folding a bit more difficult, and sometimes I pull out all sorts of excuses for calling, you know, "paying for information". Hopefully I'll keep my wits about me and not donate too much money for the above reasons which I deserve to be grilled over.
So cheers to taking shots, gogo $200 BR @ NL25!
