So yea, school is fun..by DustySwedeDude, April 13
So I figured out that I need to study full time next year to keep my appartment. I fucking love my appartment. Thus I change my application a bit from "this might be good to know" to "OMFG this shit sounds easy!".
Most likely I'll study this next year:
7.5hp Ethics (LOL <3 Ayn Rand)
7.5hp American History (When Johnny Comes Marching Home Again, Hurray, Hurray!!!)
7.5hp The Brain and Behaviour (OMFG I'll never tilt again)
7.5hp History of Ideas, new time (or old, depends) - I read Russel's big badass book on the subject when I was 12.
Other stuff that I might take instead is:
Theory of knowledge
Cognitive psychology
Kings And War+ The european millitary state ca 1500-1800.
Ohh, and I'm up over 20k (including rb) so far this month.
Ill be playing 2.5 hour sessions only, with breaks and reviews in between. Also with no more than two sessions a day.
I know it might seem like little, but I feel like I need to set a strict time schedule for how I play. I really cant afford to have my life consumed by NL, even if I do wish to get seriously involved with this hobby. I hope that I can be able to discipline myself enough that I can make this a long term thing and continue to stack and educate myself. That I can balance my social, personal, school and extracurricular life to allow me to keep from over-stressing and losing control of my well being. Control, Patience and Balance.
So lets hope I can stick with the plan and that I can make that BREAD.
results are not that good so far - 60$ in ~ 16K hands of all different stuff
basically breaking even
could be a lot worse and i expect to make some decent profits till end of month
I learned a lot about taking poker serious while being in a relaxed mood the last 2 month which is nice.
besides that i managed to finally feel good in long sessions
While in the past i barely played any session > 800 hands at all ( usually got bored after 550 hands )
this month i pulled of several 2K hands + sessions
I love Full Tilt Poker
Pokerstars and Full Tilt are really miles ahead of any other poker network !
RL thing
I recently talked to my best friend and had a conversation that kinda "shocked" me a bit.
So here is the story to the situation.
He did a 3 year apprenticeship at a job after graduating from school to save some monez before going to university
in this 3 years he managed to " RL grind" a 15K €uros into his Bank account while still living with his parents and being very economical with all expenses.
after that he bought an old car for 1K € and moved out to another city to live there on his own and study "mechanical engineering " at University.
Since he moved out he now pays all expenses on his own.
( flat + car + fuel + food + university fee etc.)
He didnt get a job besides studing since there is almost no free time.
He does work for a whole month each 2 times a year in semester break. which gives him + 2000€ a year
rest of it he pays of his 15K € bank account + using credit ( from a bank)
since he needs ~ 700€ / month on average ( flat + car + fuel + food + university fee etc.) his saved money will be gone after
the first 21 months ...and from that on he needs a credit loan.
So that leads us to where he is now
After 2 years of studing at university and living on his own he is broke
he recently went for a 10K credit loan to be able to pay for 2009 expenses
He will need another 10K credit loan for 2010 before he finishes university and starts working at a new job.
In a bad case where he doesnt get a job immediatelly in his first year after university he will need a 3rd 10 K credit loan to survive.
So this will mean that in the best case scenario
he will be ~ 15.000€ in debts 2011
in worst case scenario he will be 30.000€ in debts 2011
The thing is that if i didnt find poker by a fluke i would be in the exact same situation
probably even worse !
I will not become rhich but at least its very likley that i will never experience how it feels to be in debts
thinking of being in debts alone kinda scares me to hell >-<
How many people here have sleeping problems, be it from poker or just in general? I have somehow got myself into a really fucked up cycle and because of it by the time I am finished normal life shit it is already like midnight or later and I don't feel like pokering anymore. TBH I wish things were not open so late/24/7 cause it just supports my problem, like I normally buy groceries at 1am at the 24/7 grocery store a block away from me. Anyone who suffered for a awhile then figured out how to beat it? I need advice.
Hey I was wondering if anyone can help me buy a HEM.
My understanding is they are $55, and a necessity pretty much.
I've been running pretty solid without one, turned $10 to $130 in about 1.5 months.
Currently running good in NL5. I think that a HEM can further help me...
So I'm requesting if anyone can send the $55 to my paypal.
What I plan to do, in compensation, is send you $30 first via Pokerstars (only network I play... sorry). Afterwards you send the $55 to my paypal. Then, at a week, latest, I will send you the other $30. The reason I'm doing this is because if I send the $60 all at once I'll be pushed back to NL2, which goes a lot slower. And NL5 is pretty smooth for me so far. Also, being a full time High School student, there aren't any ways to really obtain money, so I hope this is the solution. And also, I figure the faster I get HEM the faster it'll be for me to adjust and improve my game.
I can't provide a graph since I have no program to do so, but I do play STT/MTT's for fun so here is my sharkscope graph incase anyone is interested (You can Sharkscope me for proof, AutumnSolace):
I can't really say anybody will vouch my credibility because I'm fairly new to the poker community and am kind of reserved but I'm hoping this will give me the chance to kind of start a positive image. I'm somewhat known in the Starcraft community, but that can't really give any merit to poker.
If you need any additional information or want to arrange something else please MSN me at matthewtobias.school@gmail.com.
Haven't really played too much recently. I have finals upcoming, and many papers. I went away for the holiday and played a few hands HU and won about 1.5 BI.
I have a lot of stuff to do in the next week or two, but I hope to put in at least an hour per day. I feel really good about my game right now, having watched some videos and playing less robot-like. At the end of April, I'm going to give Poker a real shot, and play a ton of hands.
It's a hardknock life....for me...by MasterofLaw, April 13
This probably gonna end in a whining post, don't really know where my priniting finger in cooperation with my mind ist going to take this entry at the moment but we'll see before the final dot.
Have been a rough weekend for me, have played some poker and damn I have run bad. Have lost with Ahigh flushes against sick straightflushes 3times, and the last was totally sick. He held 10s 4c, decided to float the flop and hit a runner runner gutshot straighflushdraw on the river. Made me feel sick. Today I've only lost against some 2outers. Im down about 4bi for the month but the rakeback I will get kinda gets me breakeven +/- some bucks, feels ok. Think when, if ever, my hands will be able so stand up or I hit a heater it will to a totally sick month.
Don't think i'm gonna play that much more poker this month, really lost the spirit. The poker have started to take over to much in my life and it effect my overall well-being and relations. Like I'm prepared to skip things just to play poker, and that's where I draw the line. It's not my job, it a hobby ffs, among a lot of others!
Well, don't know what good if any came out of this blog post but I felt for writing something, now I'm gonna watch a fight-movie instead.
Well I don't have any graph or anything cuz I format a few times and didn't track every hands and so on, but yesterday I've finally reached $1 000 000 USD in profit from poker since I started playing in July 2006
wooopeee!
next step would be 2M or 10M ? dunno, either way I'm happy with my current results! :D
My name is SMOKINGDOUGH. Im a 25NL 6 max player trying to move up and improve my game so I can start smoking some real dough. But anyways Im going to use this blog to talk over hands, my results etc. and hopefully along the way get some advice.
Im gonna start this of setting some goals for myself:
40k Hands on the month
1k in tournament winnings
$500+ Cashgame winnings
Goal: 250k hands in 49 daysby beethreekay, April 13
So it's been a while since I blogged here. Basically, I've gone busto due to tilt and awful bankroll management and need to get back to winning ways soon. I have converted my FPPs into 330T$ and from there into $320.10, and plan to grind from NL10 back to NL100 ASAP. To do this, I have set myself a goal of playing 250k hands by the end of May (49 days). I'm re-starting this blog so I can keep track of progress and force myself to do this. Given I've never played more than 60k hands in one month before, this will be quite tough, but I've few commitments time-wise between now and then, so it's at least possible. Hopefully, in the process, I'll turn a nice profit and get back to stakes where I'm making some decent cash.
sigh... my EV is about breakeven, up 1-2 buy-ins, but I'm down 7 buy-ins, the graph didn't get my last hand AA vs KJ all-in on rainbow flop K105 hits J on turn.

Who the hell is getting all the good luck? Share it yo!
Even though the day has ended bittersweet, I think I can say it's been a good one. I've discovered my new love... FTP deep 6max tables! I swear I love those things, it really allows me to open up my game and make certain plays/reads I'm just unable to make at the 100bb PS tables. I think I'm going to spend a lot of time playing those deep tables from here on out.
It's bittersweet because I was up 1200 after about 2k hands, then went to play one final session and went all the way down to -5.40 : [
Sick life
I ended up getting overset, then running kings into aces twice, and some dude 5b bluff shoved 56s into my AK and made trip 5's. Then obv I tilted at least 1-1.5 buy ins after all that happened one right after another.
Either way, playing these deep tables is the closest I've been to returning to my old form back when I was crushing a little over a year ago. My reads were super sharp and my ability to induce bluffs and light call downs/stack offs was impressive IMO.
Anyways, my month has been going very well so far, but I still have a lot of work to do. I think I posted that my goal was to make 50 buy ins at 1/2 and 40 at 2/4 or something like that. Let's see how close I am ....
Looks like I've made 58 buy ins at 1/2, that's definitely eclipsed that goal, though I haven't seemed to be fairing very well in the 2/4 games unfortunately. It seems to me that since I need to make another 15k by the end of the month that I should just stick w/ these 1/2 games, probably just the deep tables, and try to earn the extra 2/4 buy ins I need that way. This would mean I'd need to make an additional 75 buy ins at 1/2. I think it would take a minor miracle to put up those kinds of numbers since I'm just about half way through April, it's been pretty epic already and I'm just not sure I can do much better than I'm doing now. I think if I could make another 50 buy ins at 1/2 through the rest of April I could call that a success. It's very important I reach this goal of ~15k as quickly as possible though as I will be starting a new program come May 1st and would like to have all of my debts paid off before it starts.
I'm pretty excited about this new program, basically the way it works is I will be getting staked, plus be given unlimited coaching by two very successful 10/20 players in return for somewhere between 50-60% of my earnings over the course of the stake. The money isn't really important to me at all, but what is important is the possibility of being able to learn from great players, and being able to play higher stakes against better competition without risk of ruin. Obviously the better the players are that I play against, the quicker I will become better myself, I always dreamed of being one of the toughest to play in any game at any stakes, so I expect to definitely get closer to this goal by way of this program.
I want to get money onto FTP but my visa isn't accepted to FullTiltPoker so I'm looking for someone who I can transfer money with. Anywhere between $300 - $500 from paypal. or $150 - $200 from stars. I can send first, but you have to reputable.
I have transfered successfully with K4ir0s and srojitas, so you can be sure I am not attempting to scam.
had 2 bucks on cake and thought that if i really focus i could have a lil run on there. As of now i took that 2 bucks and have 235 right now. Grinded it out in some low limit cash games and really am starting to feel good about my game for the first time in a while. Its been a tough year for me online but i think with some strict bankroll management i can make 2009 a positive year to remember in the poker world.
