How many people here have sleeping problems, be it from poker or just in general? I have somehow got myself into a really fucked up cycle and because of it by the time I am finished normal life shit it is already like midnight or later and I don't feel like pokering anymore. TBH I wish things were not open so late/24/7 cause it just supports my problem, like I normally buy groceries at 1am at the 24/7 grocery store a block away from me. Anyone who suffered for a awhile then figured out how to beat it? I need advice.

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time

lol i hear you man, a fucked up sleep cycle can really mess up your life. A typical week for me might go as such:

M: 8am-11pm
T: 10am-1am
W: 1pm-4am
TH: 4pm-7am
F:6pm-10am

So by the end of the week my biological clock is totally mind fucked and I'm missing classes and friends and stuff. It sucks pretty hard, but if I really need to fix it asap, I usually will stay up like 24 hours or whatever is necessary to get to a time where going to bed is acceptable (ex. I wake up at 11 pm, then the next day in order to fix my cycle and not fuck it up anymore I might stay up until 10 or 11 pm then go to bed, rather than going to bed at 2pm when I would get tired, so then I will wake up at 8 or 9 am like a normal person).

I rarely go to bed before 1am in the morning. This last week I've been up untill somewhere between 3 and 5.30 PM playing poker. I fucking hate mornings though, so it's ok.

I've got 3 classes 2 days of the week (entire day) and the rest I've got no other obligations (only personal ones). Its easy to slip into blob mode and watch hulu/starcraft if I don't keep myself in check

Typically I'll lie in bed at 12:30 and not sleep till an hour later. I've done some research one this but if you would like to fall asleep faster:

-repeat to yourself "I am getting sleepier. I am tired. I will rest up for a big day tomorrow."
-Don't eat 3 hours before bed, as your stomach uses energy to digest food overnight and you end up tired the morning after
-Boil and drink tea before bedtime while reading a book in bed
-masturbate obv

a combination of these for 1 week should put you right to bed no prob. The hardest part is self discipline which I am still trying to master.you're not alone <3

that second reply sounds like me for awhile i was just adding 2 hours every day cause i would wait until i was tired to sleep, and thats kewl and all, but its really hard to make appointments and stuff that way.

dunno, i've been able to get tired by midnight and im trying to wake up at 9am now, but for a long time my response was just to let it go whenever, because i didnt have any obligations (usually) and if i did, they would go horrendously

I can't even begin to explain how fucked my sleeping habits are. I always try fix them and then they're in shambles again within 2 days. I've missed countless classes and social gatherings because of this. It blows.
