laptop + monitor? by k4ir0s, April 25

Do any of you play with a laptop + a larger monitor attached to it? I play on a 15'' laptop, dunno how i'd comfortably play with another monitor since I'd have to keep my head turned all the time

Also what do you guys think is more important, having a bigger monitor or being more comfortable while playing? I usually sit on a comfortable reclining chair or I lay on my bed when I play poker, If I get a bigger monitor i'd have to sit at a desk and I have a pretty bad back so it gets uncomfortable fast. What do you think I should do? lol

Teabaggers against Defense Spending? by k2o4, April 25

Bill Maher did a funny "new rule" where he made a very good point - Defense spending is the biggest source of our national debt and is completely out of control, but you'll be hard pressed to find a teabagger who actually wants to cut defense spending despite their constant cries to reduce the debt.

Click here to watch the video

"The problem with the tea party movement, besides their almost universal rejection of dentistry, is that they want money for nothing and chicks for free. They want a deregulated free market and their jobs to stay here in the US; they want guaranteed health coverage regardless of preexisting conditions without a big government mandate; they want to call themselves teabaggers and people to keep a straight face. And of course they want big tax cuts along with deficit reduction. I can't even think of a suitable analogy for that disconnect--it's like thinking getting a handjob will clean your garage."

...

Everything that goes into defense costs us about a trillion dollars a year, most of which goes into fighting the Russians in 1978. Fighter planes for all those dog fights we get into with the Taliban, submarines to foil their evil plot to blow up our ships with car bombs, and space lasers to shoot down their exploding underpants...scream about handouts, this is what they should be protesting.

Poker update + Life in general =] by Mariuslol, April 24

I did have a slump in Mars, but it was mostly to show my brother who I'm helping a lot, because he's so happy when he's productive, how sad it can get if you just sit on wow, when he got a job I quit wow, and I've been doing really good in April.

I put in a healty amount of hours on the table, I'm not sure how much though. I don't use a tracker or record, I just try and get several hours a day, sometimes 2 hours, sometimes 10. My mate Erik who pwnz, wanted to stake me, so he did, and I've been running hot, so this month I'm up 14.000e or so, shipped half of it to him as was our deal, and cashed out half of it for myself. And we restarted the stake. (Can do that whenever I want, cash out, and we go at it at 10k, or I can just stop the deal if I want, so pretty sweet deal <3).

I'm also up some on my own playing, I'm not sure how much, because I rarely play on my own cash, but It's around 4,5k e there or so.

I got around going to the gym again in April as well, I go around 3-5 times a week, and I eat siick good.

I try to eat 5-7 meals a day, get plenty of water in between. I do eat some take out, I feel a bit bad, but it's because we're lazy and it's fun.

I've not studied as much poker as I wanted, but I did study the Easy Game book, thoroughly. Notes, re-read, put up notes, and I've read quite a bit in Volume 2 as well, but I'm winning in poker a bit, so then I play more than study.

My dad's been a hero to me for some time, because I've had some rough patches, and he doesn't care, and seem to always be there for me, so I wanted to give him a present to show my appreciation, so I bought him a present.

Me and my sister's husband carrying it out of his car. We had to trick my dad to get him out of the house too lol, so I called his best mate and gave him a mission to get my dad out of the house. So he had called him over, and he showed him his laptop lol(A shitty 4 year old laptop). Then he took him out for some soda, my dad in the aftermath said it felt so weird, like he was in the twillight zone lol.

I heard a lot of good things about it, it's a LED Black Rose HD TV, 55, and we bought lots of accessories too, uhm, like usb adapter, so it works on the internet or something, and some hard disk which we plugged in it's back, loaded it with 500gb of good movies, like everything we could find like, The Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction, Snatch, blabla, anything good and cool, because my dad hasn't watched much of anything when it comes to movies, although he often talks about wanting to watch xD

I also started talking to an old friend, which was rly nice, cus she's a milf and she wants to marry me when she's 30. So I guess that's cool.

All in all, good times <3

Peace

ps, I also helped fix him a pc, u can see it in the background, and gave him my old screen (he just started using facebook and youtube so xD), lucky enough to have gotten a 30' and a 27' myself so. weee

pps, also spent a lot of time with the cat, cats just seem to get me <3

WEC & Strip Club by Stim_Abuser, April 24

So since my cable provider will not let me order WEC for some reason im going to go watch it at a local strip club. I was looking up locations and was dumbfounded that a strip club is showing WEC fights.

" That's a cool story candy, but can you move your ass aldo is about to fist fabers butt chin. "

This is gonna be awesome. The place is usually pretty dead too so it should be pretty quiet.

Just for the record the strip club is Fantasy Topless. It's pretty garbage but whatever. Trashy girls need love too!

frustrated by Night2o1, April 24

It seems like everything I do at the poker table is ass backwards. Every hand I post, its pointed out that I misplayed it horrendously (not complaining at the people pointing this out for me). Its like my internal logical thinking ability is completely .. trash. My assumptions are always wrong, what I expect people to do with each hand in their range is skewed, my hand values are all fucked. I don't understand. Whats wrong with me. It isn't as if I'm, in my mind at least, just clicking buttons, but that is what the result looks like after I see what other people think about what I'm doing.

I hope someone has an idea of what I'm talking about, and how I can change it.

That's why I'm frustrated right now.

Friday by blade55555, April 24

So Friday I got home from school and played some poker but I did cash rooms. I did .25/.50 first and lost 7$ immediantly. I decided to go lower and in 30 minutes I was up 30$ (starting today I was 16.90 then went to 42). I took a break, played again and got to 58$. I knew I should have stopped playing after taking a break but I kept playing and got myself back to 35$. Was fun and I did learn a bit as well and hope I do better tomorrow ^^.

Saturday/Sunday Stake by Gadget, April 24

I've done this in the past so you don't need to worry about getting scammed. No mark-up and great value here since I will be including tournaments that are below my ABI in this deal. If I don't get 50% shipped by 4pm EST on Saturday I will change this to a Sunday only stake and redo the math in a new post. I'm pretty sure this will be filled up by the start time on Saturday however. If I have 6 tables open I may cut a tournament and refund that money.

Saturday
**FTOPS Event #5 - $309
24K Guarantee - $75
10K Rush - $26
FTOPS Event #6 - $216
80K Guarantee - $109
32K Guarantee - $26
40K Guarantee - $75
15K Guarantee - $11
75K Guarantee - $163
35K Guarantee - $26
Total: $1036

Sunday
FTOPS Event #7 - $129
42K Guarantee - $26
22K Guarantee - $75
15K Guarantee - $11
150K Guarantee - $163
33K Guarantee - $26
24K Guarantee - $75
200K Guarantee - $22
10K Rush - $26
1.25M Guarantee - $322
32K Guarantee - $26
Total: $901

GRAND TOTAL: $1937

1% = $19.37
5% = $96.85
10% = $193.70
25% = $484.25

**(This is a $100 Rebuy)(If I rebuy more than the initial + an add on it will come out of my own pocket if I cash in 0 other tournaments. So under no circumstance would you have to send me additional money.) ex. I only cash in a $26 tourny for $75 profit throughout this whole stake and I made $200 in additional rebuys. I would not pay out any money and pay $125 extra on my own. I plan on winning a few of these so this shouldn't come into play.

http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/oo228/m3gaedke/opr-4.jpg

I would like to sell between 50% and 75%. I will be playing if anything over 50% is sold. I will send everyone that is a confirmed staker a pm by the start time of the first tournament, in most cases I will confirm as soon as I receive the payment. I will make an update post after the tournaments wrap up on saturday. Money will be sent back to everyone by midnight on monday.

All funds must be sent to TheRelapse on FTP. I can only accept via FTP.

Thanks.

Bright Eyes' death by Oly, April 23

My car just failed it's MOT, so I decided to take it to the scrapyard today. However, this morning I owned a car who's only value was scrap so I thought I'd fuck it up. So Bright Eyes (every now and then it falls apart) was introduced to a large axe. See vids. And some spray paint. During this episode someone called the police. I can understand this as there were 3 crazed men in the street wrecking a car. The policewoman was the hottest police I have ever seen. I flirted some, but I was drunk from the night before so who knows how good it was. There is a picture of her that I'll post as soon as I get it from my mate's phone.

I got £183.05 for it. Nice.

Tilt by pokermatt, April 23

A poker player's worst enemy is himself and his emotions, not as his opponent's as some may be lead to believe. When a poker player has let his emotions take over his game, he is known as being on tilt and the dreaded tilt as decimated and taken many a person's bankroll over the years.

Tilt comes in many shapes and forms, including No Limit holdem but they all point to a person playing poker sub-optimally. When a player goes on tilt, they may start to play far too loose and aggressive and begin to make plays and calls that have a negative equity. This in turn puts them deeper into tilt and the cycle continues.

Another form of tilt, that is much more difficult to spot, is passive tilt. This type of tilt usually sees the player tighten up and stop playing as aggressively as they usually do such as folding when they would usually call or not chasing draws even when they have the correct odds to do so.

Preventing yourself from going on tilt is a very difficult thing to do and can only really be done through months, if not years, of practice. One measure you can put in place straight away is to have an adequate bankroll for the stakes you play, this way if you lose a hand that costs you a full stack the financial implications are not as severe as if you were playing with your entire worth at the table.

You also need to train yourself not to become results orientated and instead focus on making decisions that have a positive expectation in the long run. Just because your opponent hit his flush this time, despite you pricing him out of calling, but in the long term playing like that will cost him money and therefore make you money.

If you find yourself slipping into the dark depths of tilt the best action to take is to simply sit out for a few hands until your emotions are back in control. Even if it means you chill out and watch some Poker Videosinstead.

This is easier at a cash game where you can sit out immediately but more difficult in a tournament scenario. If you are going on tilt in a tournament, either step away from the table for a few minutes and calm down or simply say you will only play kings or aces in the next orbit or two and then revert back to your usual game.

First week of poker by blade55555, April 23

So started poker this week and was recommended to keep a blog. Started with 20$, went down to 15 playing 1.10$ tourney's then played a .10C tourney and won it which put me to 24. I then did some more 1.10$ rebuy which I just lost all those and went to 21$.

Played a couple sit n go tournaments that didn't go to well and put me to 18. Played a 2.20 tourney and if I hadn't made a stupid call all I needed was 10 more spots before I would have at least won 4 dollars and I had a good pot size but blew it like an idiot. So I end my first official week down 3 dollars and 90 Cents. The good thing about this is I have learned a lot the past few days when I have watched some video's on youtube, read a ton of articles and I can see where a lot of my flaws are.

I have been told to put more then the current amount of money I have but I don't have it so that to spare as I am just a senior in high school with a minimum wage job and can't afford to put more then 20$ in for now may be able to put another 10-15 in another week .

Hoping to put my new found knowledge to the test tomorrow and actually win some tournaments always feels good to win one even if you only get like 10$ .
