thinking about becoming a 6max player

I think I'm going to try to become a 6max/SH player. Since I don't use a HUD, I find it difficult to keep track of the 64 other people I'm playing with on 8 full ring tables and I really feel like it affects my game. I don't want to play like a robot, and sometimes I think a guy is tight when he actually isn't or think he's a fish when he actually isn't. I feel like if I play 4 tables of 6max, I can get the same amount of hands in one session as 8 tables of full ring, and I can focus a lot better on my opponents without a HUD. Plus, I think it would be more enjoyable because I can focus more on my reads. I'm not really interested in the money aspect of poker right now. I'm just trying to get better. I'm probably going to start fresh again on 6max only and build up.

I think in the long run this won't be that bad of an idea, and could potentially be more profitable in less hands than full ring. Looking forward to the challenge

Unless there is a very specific reason as to why you refuse to use a HUD, use a HUD...

I went from a breakeven .05/.10 player for a few months playing on Cake without a HUD to moving up a limit with a HUD in the next 2 months on pokerstars

meh, i don't use a hud when i 24 table nl50 6max, but that's probably because my style is rounded to beat the fish and regulars at that level. Anyway, I Just memorize the portrait/name and remember stupid things that they have done.

But yeah, sounds like you should use a hud if you cant keep track of all that. Or play few enough tables so that you can remember everyone

When people say "don't use hud" I think it might be easy for people to missunderstand what they actually mean.

It is impossible to pay that much attention as you should if you're on that many tables. When I don't play with huds, 4 tables become too much, 3 is perfect, and I can easily 24 table on stars if I want, that's not the problem. But what you want to do when you're playing hudless is really "devour" the game and know everything, and you're constantly writing notes nonstop, mixing up ur betsize, and should have a note/read on every player at your table, and the table should be soft, because you can table select stupidly good.
