May, June etc by DustySwedeDude, June 01

As for poker it was my laziest month in forever. Played less then 30k hands which most be the first time in like 3 years or something. Ridiculous. Made like 10k€ or so which is nice but I'll need to get my grind on after Bulgaria otherwise I'll look pretty stupid for a supposed poker "pro". Only good thing is that I've been working out A LOT. My conditioning has gone from utter crap when I started working out a lot after Christmas but now it's somewhere close to "not embarrassing". I've probably been stronger in my arms/shoulders sometimes back when I followed a more disco oriented workout plan but my legs and "core" is at all time high.

Goals for June

- Have some fun in Golden Sands (Unibet Open) - send me a PM or something if you're going and want to hang out.

- Start grinding hardcore during the 2nd half of the month and play at least 60k hands in total.

- Keep doing BJJ 4+ times a week and get my ass to the gym or go out running at least 2 times a week when not travelling.

This, together with a good diet, should ensure that I'll be in great shape and a little bit richer when it all is said and done

May Results...-20k+ on Stars lol by Joeingram1, June 01

Whats up all, just got back from a visit back home in Chicago and am glad to be back out here in SD..... Life is going well right now even though I have been barely playing any poker the last few weeks. I started playing only nl100-200 for a little bit to get out of the 5k+ swings I was going thru every day, it was starting to stress me out far to much... combine that with the gloomy May weather out here and I wasn't very happy. But the month did turn around for me life was but stayed pretty shitty poker wise. I did get the privilege of seeing 50 cent/Soulja boy in concert in Chicago and we also went to another concert out here in SD full of all of your favorite artists. (Kesha, Justin Bieber, Akon, Usher) lol

No idea what my plans for June are except for a trip to Vegas to see all the PS pros that I have come to love, I want to start playing more poker but I think I am in love now so idk how much actual poker I will be putting in. Without further ado here are my graphs for the last month on PS and FTP

Live Poker Conversation by Carthac, June 01

I bet A-9 suited in CO, BB calls

Board comes 2-4-7 rainbow, Villain checks I check behind

Turn brings another 7. Villain basically throws his chips and bets pot, I call

River brings a blank. Villain stares at me for a while, then bets about 1/2 pot, I call. I show him A-high pretty confident that I'm good, and he just about has a shit fit and mucks.

A few hands later, he asks me "Were you on a draw?" and I respond "nope." He grabs his drink, says somewhat under his breath "the donkeys around here are ridiculous," and walks out wearing his shirt that says "CARD SHARK" with a pic of a royal flush on it and his gay fuck phil hellmuth imitation glasses.

Just about made my life complete with that :D

Should i give up? by longple, June 01

i cant win

$ graph:+ Show Spoiler +

bb graph:+ Show Spoiler +

so basically its almost all nl100, maybe 50k hands of nl200 and 50k hands of nl50

ive been living off rakeback only the last 8 months

stars obviously hate me and really want me to stop raking for them, or they have some kind of evil plan of me playing MORE since i have given up actually winning at this game, so since im not winning i should add more hours/tables to gain more FPP's

maybe thats their plan..

but seriously, i cant win, should i just end the pain? I still "like" poker, in some fucked up way, i like learning and i see myself as a decent thinker/smart guy, and i really think i could beat higher limits if i just could win some of the 80%+ pots

http://www.liquidpoker.net/userpoll/draw.php?poll_id=1034
Poll: Should longple give up?
(Vote): yes obviously its not working out
(Vote): no, hang in there bro
(Vote): leave stars forever
(Vote): fuck being a winner, go for SNE

ive been whining alot the last months, ppl probably dont care and im probably just anoying but w/e, even fake sympathy feels good

Specific Ranges by Silver_nz, June 01

Thoughts
What is the most used concept in the thought of a winning poker playing? Ranges – this concept gets used whenever a good player thinks about a hand. But trouble is, thinking in ranges is not intuitive to the human mind: When sitting at the tables, around the button clicking and metagame and goofy avatars, its easy to just make blanket statements “he bet the river, I guess he has a good hand”
or worse to put the enemy on a single hand “re-raised and cbet the 338 flop.. I put him on AK, call. He bet the turn... I think he has AK, call. He shoved the river, well I guess he has AK, I call"

I 'knew' he was bluffing
What about an approach of actively thinking about specific hands that they could have.
Doesn't have to be complete, just keeping a decent number of possible card combinations in mind at the same time: train the mind to deal with uncertainty, and not to fixate on one thing. Specific Uncertainty!
Even better is to know “how big” each combo of hands is: getting even more specific, and looking at the colour of the suits! This tells you how many cards there are for that hand.

http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/8761/combs.png

Opposites day
Another thing that is very enlightening is to take the negative view: to look at some combos he can't have. Such as, a TAG player who flats the turn on a draw heavy board can't have the 2pair or set combos. The narrower his range can be made the more money your decisions will make.

Hard Wok Cafe
Practice away from the table: a high level of combo counting isn't usually possible in the heat of playing. By going through a few hands per day, physically writing out the combos to make it solid, we get used to thinking in this way, and can think in terms of a wider range of combos while at the table.

Blinds are now $1/$2
Button is at seat 2
Seat 1: AR - $297.38
Seat 2: mattspelman - $160.32___not playing fullstacked is a leading indicator of fishiness!
Moving Button to seat 1
AR posts small blind ($1)
mattspelman posts big blind ($2)
Shuffling Deck
Dealing Cards
Dealing Qd 9c to AR
AR raises to $6
mattspelman calls $6___________being a fish, he will have a wide calling range: and it can even include big pairs
Dealing Flop 3d 9s 5d
mattspelman bets $8___________his leading range will be fairly specific to him as a player. Leaving it wide for now:
AR raises to $32______________ [3A, 34, 3Qs,, 56,57s,95, A5,53s,, 98, 9T, 9J, 9K, 96s,, JJ, 88, 33,, 46, 47s, 68, K7d]
mattspelman calls $32__________that he called takes out some hands, like the -[95, 33, JJ] leave in 53 to leand some weight to the fishy slowplay possiblity
Dealing Turn 3d 9s 5d 2d
mattspelman checks
AR bets $64
mattspelman calls $64______________[3A, 34,, 56,57s, A5,53s,, 98, 9T, 9J, 9K, 96s,, 88,, 46, 47s, 68, K7d] very little folds to this bet
Dealing River 3d 9s 5d 2d Ah
mattspelman checks_______________decidiing to valuebet or not, so try spliting is range into 2:
AR bets $195.38 (all-in)___________that which calls which is better, that which calls that is worse. that which folds just let drop away.
mattspelman calls $58.32 (all-in)____[ 56,57s,, 98, 9T, 9J, 96s,, 88,,]worse vs [3A, 34,, A5,53s,, 9K,, 46, 47s]better
Returning $137.06 to AR uncalled
AR shows Qd 9c
mattspelman shows 7c 3c

Gangster flow
We still need to keep our thoughts efficient. Too many combos and we will waste our timebank and block other possible EV+ thoughts. An extreme example is PLO: there are far too many combos to ever get specific here: we have to make groupings of combos. Yet some grouping systems are better than others: those that have specifically looked at the combinations that make up a range are more realistic, and hence lead to better decisions. As in Hold Them, we are going to have to group hands together somewhat at the table, but every bit of specificity can help us work out situations. E.g. if we have the Ace of the flush on the board, we can reduce a lot of combos out of their range. These situations don't come up every hand, but they are a legitimate way to improve edge. Doing combo counting drills can help shape your groupings to be more useful than just: nuts, bluff, medium.

sick EV @ 10nl by atateconst, June 01

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/4cac292e9a6310f6dab82e3acb21c207.jpg

It has tightened up a bit lately (tho still sick), but here I'm hovering at 789,xxx hands EV line. My EV at that point was $4197.xx

Now..........

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/40bbbc93c7fafe310e4b473e792eb933.jpg

Here we have my actual winnings at 789,xxx hands. You can see its @ $3366.xx.
This is strictly 10nl, so its roughly 80 BI's below EV.

Looks like its tightening up a bit, so hopefully I have some heaters coming!!

Sick Heater by Carthac, June 01

After my recent bout with running bad, while also playing pretty terribly in certain situations, I played NL25 rush to get my rakeback above 500 for the free deucescracked account from LP rakeback (lol liquidpoker plug), and everything just clicked.

Ended up going on an 10BI heater(started the day losing a few BI at NL10) after being just absoloutely crushed by the limit a week ago. Lolfishluck or me playing well? Really dont care, guess I will find out later. Just happy to be on the +side for the first time in a good amount of hands
