Epic Trip Report

Friday was the first show of Guns n Roses - Chinese Democracy tour

14 years since they had last been to NZ. Although its just Axel this time around.

I initially thought the show started at 7, so planned to get the 5:20 bus arriving at 6. The show wasnt till 8 so i decided to get the bus anyway and roll over the casino whilst i waited. When i got to the casino i bought a beer which was 6x more expensive than if you buy it at a shop (beat). So i set about high rolling at the 2c slots. I have no idea how a slot works but i did quite well and ended up like $28 on my initial investment (brag). Woman who sat next to me got dominated by her machine (variance).

It took me at least half an hour before i located the "collect" button, and decided this machine had run its course. Took my fist fulls o' dollars and went back to the bar to purchase further beers with my new found wealth.

Went on to another slot machine (beat) (same as before in different location) this time a smelly man sat next to me (variance). His machine again dominated him, but i was running hot for another $15 scoop - purchased more beer (brag).

Then i decided that the Dragon Lord slot machines could take no more of my ill skillz, and i went to one of the newly opened low stakes blackjack tables. $5 a hand i sit down at the empty table. He asks if i know how to play im like "OBV IM SICK WIDDIT" and he waits for me to cut the cards (didnt know u had to do that) anyway, he was a friendly guy and explained the etiquette that is skipped over on Party Blackjack.

About 2 hands in an old woman sits at my table and puts $5 on my hands (I did not know you could do this) anyway she obviously pegged me as a sick card counting gambler shark (that i am) - and i obliged by dominating my hands playing like a legend.

I won every hand to begin with, then i lost a hand and was like "urgh..." then i lost another. So being cool - i hit and run and escaped with $105 in chips (WHUT! BALLIN!) I cant remember how much i bought in for maybe like $80 or something i didnt wanna look like a cheapo with a tiny stack. So i was up huge amounts lifetime at these so called "unbeatable" games - with a massive sample to proove it. Maths is wrong. In hindsight i should have martingaled to ensure victory.

I take a taxi down to the venue because its raining. It costs like $10 or something but its cool coz im ballin so hard from my casino run.

I purchase like 6 beers or something pre-gig to get myself buzzed up. I also bought some hot chips and ate them on the toilet because i needed a piss, thought i was gonna spew my guts out - those chips were hard to get down. ROCK N ROLL!

The smell of the beer in a plastic cup bought back fond memories of emptying my stomache at Iron Maiden.

The warm up acts were pretty cool. Didnt know any of their songs so i didnt really care that much and i missed quite a bit because i was in the line for beers. I battled my way to about 12 deep to get ready for the Guns.

During the warm-up act i was stood behind these 2 really cute japanese chicks (I had some yellow fever) i pretty much sexually assaulted them - but asian chicks are into that stuff right? ive seen some vieos on the net so i figured id go with it. Theyd probably also have liked it if i spewed on them then took a dump in their mouth. The first chick was bopping to the music and i stood behind her so her ass kept bumping into my crotch - and i popped a semi-boner, i also let my hand touch the ass of the other chick. Its rock n roll - what can you do? neither of them noticed.

I wanted to stay behind them for the whole concert but when Axel came out the crowd went crazy and there was a massive push forward. Welcome to the Jungle blazed out and i moshed around in a sea of other peoples sweat. You could see it rising from the heat in the crowd it looked like fog.

Axel has not lost it. He is a brilliant entertainer. I was like 12ft away from a rock legend. I forced myself forward till about 5 deep. These 2 guys start fighting just to my right. One of them gets pointed out to the bouncer and he drags this guy forward - despite his best efforts to resist, everyone (including me) pushed him forward and he got yanked over the fence (then everyone cheered)

I was now about as far forward as i could go. My lovely shirt was in the way so i took that off and threw it into the crowd ( -$8) and at one point my trousers nearly fell down lol

Pretty sure Axel made eye-contact with me at one point (brrrrag)

Show was good and i was now wearing 3 t-shirts and sweating like a mother-fucker. My old GnR one, my new tour shirt and a tour shirt i bought for girl #1 from the other threads.

Show ended at about 2:30am and i decided i could probably make it back to the casino and just hang out there till the buses started running again (like 5 hours)

Its hard to find a tall building from the ground and i was pretty sure my chances of getting beaten up, robbed and raped were at an all time high as less and less people from the concert were ahead of me. I ended up down all these side streets going past the entrances to hip hop clubs with all the G'd up niggaz outside them. Not where you want to be when youre in full on bogan mode.

Also went past a strip club and a massage parlor ($120 half hour special) I considered that a fair price but wasnt nearly drunk enough to act upon my instincts plus is was like 3am so theyd all be covered in drunk man spooj. Next time i might go and bet $120 on blackjack and have that as my prize.

Eventually made it back to the casino. Head to the bar to get some water and a coke - they were both free BOOYA! so i drink them then get a fanta and a water to make sure that i roll this bitch for all its worth. I get $20 in coins and head for Dragon Lord - this time he totally crushes me. So did OutBack Jack and i was so sure i was gonna win the jackpot. I also spent $8 trying to win a BMW but for some reason i didnt win (must be rigged only against me)

I walk up to the poker place and feel that 3am on a friday is probably a good time to play. I ask what games and he says $60/$100NL and $100/$200NL. Not wanting to sound like a noob and ask if they were the blinds i just say "oh ok" and walk off. Id have only got rolled by the rake anyway and the games were only going to be running for another 45 minutes which is like half an orbit live. The blackjack table from before is cashing up so i re-evaluate the situation.

I walk downstairs and sit at the roulette table. Get $50 in chips and start betting red/black. Obviously ive got sick prediction skills and started to roll this table with $10 bets martingaling when i lost one (martingale system works in real life - its rigged online though)

So i double my money when the table closes and decide to go to the casier. I get my winnings in a fat $100 bill.

I realise that if im gonna catch a taxi with this its gonna be full-fare if i pay with a $100 bill (last time ride was like $60) so i withdraw $40 and get a cab home (i told him thats all i had) he asked how much i lost tonight and i said "about $100" small enough to be realistic but big enough that he will take pity and knock a few $$$ off my ride. Turns out the ride was only like $45 so next time ill start at around $30.

Hi,

Yesterday was a bit working day for me. I got up early about 11am, ate brunch, reposed for while, and then I was training for about 3 hours (just ACT - because I havent been training for a year, and A6W - geeez this is sooo hot Its only a 6 day but I see results.)

The day passed really quickly and at 4pm I started playing some tournaments. Firstly I played $30 5kg and went busto AQ < QQ (guy was thinking about laying down queens on the board T554 - I had a tight ass image ), then I qualified to Big Deal and also went busto with KJ on the board JJT63 (guy had TT obviously). During BD I was playing also 18kg 20+R and was about 25th when 120 left but I lost big pot QQ < KK, I fell to 5k at chips, made two chancy but succesful resteals and was up to 9k but then I picked up AK and some guy busted me with his 99 allin preflop.
To sum up, my tournament bankroll is down to $1340 and I made a decision that until I get $2.5k I will be playing only $10-$20 FO, rarely $30.

Thats not an end, because at 11pm I started playing some cash tables. At the beggining I was down 2 buyins after 50 hands !!! (wtf), then after 1k hands I was down 5 buyins (geeez I was playing TAG sth like 24/19/2.5, but donks were donking me out). I saw that this way I cant win so I stared playing LAG, and after another 800 hands I managed a profit (just $39 but still its a profit).

The last one, I think that I have some problems with my pride =] because 3 months ago I was playing NL400 and now I have to grind low limits and its kinda funny because there are some hands where I have nothing but I figured out an idea to bluff opponents and I play the bluff correctly (funny thought =] ) but they still calling with 3rd or bottom pair geeez and Im losing buyins. I will have to even slave away at my discipline because by this moves Im losing to much.

Ohh, I would forget. I made small withdrawal from my cash games account because I wanna join to PXF.com. I feel that I have some shortages which I wanna repair.

Basically, I think 400 nl is a lot harder. I feel like I am getting outplayed a lot more. I did take a few bad beats though... freaking bethere.com called an all in with 44 against my 99 for stacks preflop and 2 outted me... oh well, at least i didnt lose money, i was down $1800 after 5.5k hands and said fuck that and made it all back the last 2k hands.

I also really want to take lessons from someone successful at midstakes games, I think it would help my game a lot... still looking though.

I haven't played too many hands this week, screw this, i gatta start putting more time in, i was really busy this week with the satellite dish we got, and it took a good 3 days to setup and i didn't play those days =( No more of that, must play more poker this week, no and's, if's or but's. This weeks been ok for me, make an ok amount plus a tourney win, so i can't complain :D Lets see what next week brings. Stats are below.

I'm sure i must be missing something

If i play my A game it doesn't seem to matter, if i run bad i lose money, if i run good i win money. It seems PURE luck.

I really dont know what to do, i just played 800 hands, and it goes like this:

Play well, win small pots, make like $15 over first 200 hands having had no real big interesting hands.

Then boom. Set under set, down $30. So im now $-15 which isnt that much. Then, flopped fullhouse vs my kings on 744 board. Boom, now im down 2 buyins, great.

Then nothing happens for like 300 hands again and i regain a bit of my winnings, so im down like $35 only. Then doomswitched again, KK vs AA, aipf, BOOM dead. Then AK vs AA on K high 4 bet preflop. Boom. And then finally to finish off AQ vs 44 on A4Q flop. Greaaaat.

Down 4 buyins and dont think i can avoid any of it.

BR: $475

I really dont know what to do. Poker is really fucking annoying, every session i do seems to go like that.

Play loads of small pots, win small pots, win a couple of nicely played half stack pots, then i just get setup for a fullstack. Am i stacking off too light? im not sure.

If i avoid tonnes of suckout/coolers i will have a winning session and make quite a lot, but it seems sick to have this many coolers am i running bad or is this normal.

Am i supposed to be able to take on average 2-3 fullbuyin coolers per 1000 hands and still make profit by my play on the other hands? If i am then i need to work on my play becuase the only way i seem to be playing for stacks is either vs a complete donk, or if i set them up or out kick them.

Got my bankroll up to 430 from 40 dollars in a week and a half. I have some questions though, regarding stats and stuff. Where do you guys get your stats on other players? They usually look like 30/20/10 something like that. I was at 500, moved up to 10/25 cent games but lost a good chunk. Should I move back down?

In a few weeks....

I'm going on a two week road trip with 5 of my friends (renting a van). We'll be driving from Calgary (hometown) to Vancouver, BC, down along the coast stopping at mostly insignificant places along the way and then arriving in Vegas to have approximately a 4 day stay. None of us is big poker players, I'm the only online player and I play NL10 woo baller. We do like playing live home games but we aren't ballers, just $5 donkaments to pass the time.
We aren't sure yet where we're staying, probably some bunk ass hotel since we aren't rich, but it should be fun anyways.
I think we plan to play some low stake donkaments while we're there, like $50-$100 buyin, along with the regular degenerate gambling, roulette, blackjack etc.
6 dudes in a van. Should be good times!

I know 2nd blog in one day like wtf eh. So I finished June very nicely up over 5k for the second time in my short poker career. Anyways I continued to ride a heater today as well and this is just the start to July I needed.

Great news, I feel like im playing the best I can, I could obv play better but I think Im getting max value from my hands and squeezing and repoping and RE-repoping good PF. My strenght is PF no doubt, after the flop I still have some issues but Im doing good there too.

Bad news is Im still running like shit, but I dont care anymore, its just variance and when it comes my way I know I can win from 500$+ in a day. I just have to be patient.

LIVE TOURNY

Well today i played my first live tournament down in Central London at the Empire Casino. Max players it can hold is 81 but only 44 showed up since its not as busy on sundays.

Buyin = $20 + $2 and it was unlimited rebuy until first break. With a buyable add-on at the break. The prize pool came to $2560. I final tabled and come 9th being the shortstack, starting with around 5600 chips with blinds being 600-1200. So i won $60, not bad i guess for my first tourny and not rebuying or using an add-on, for 1k chip extra, didnt think it was worth it...

I thought the tourny structure was bad... blinds started off at 25/50 and we only had 1000 chips... 20BB.

My very first hand i raised with 78dd and hit my flush on turn, got paid because i bet on flop too. Then 2 hands after i bluffed with 24cc and showed it, they all looked pissed off.

I knocked a guy out with QQ vs AK holding up, and later on QQ vs QJ, and another guy managed a split pot sharing a A-to-10 straight.

When blinds were around 400-800, guy pushed his remainder 200 chips in pot and i obv called with 88 with no one else behind me. He showed 9-10 and spiked a 10, ohwell...

Soon after went to FT, and barely got any playable hands and was forced to push all-in with only 2 people behind me, as it was folded to me, i lost as BB called remainder 2500 chips with KJ .

ONLINE

Tonight has been a great session, up just over 5 buyins in 900+ hands. Overall i think i played great, barely no mistakes, and no pots lost over $4. There was only 1 play by me that was a spew, which was gambling with a flush draw, and actually winning with a pair of 7s

NICE way to start july, my birthday month. Guess PS gave me an early birthday present since i suckout twice to win the tourney . Once cuz i just lost a 20$ 180(pretty close to the money) SNG where i got suckout and im like fuk this all in with j7 vs aq. The other time was the final hand where i commited myself with a6 on my raise so i had to call his allin. A6 vs AT. Yes baby.

Ok so I finally made it up to Utica NY which is roughly 20 mins from Turningstone. I'm up here playing pro baseball in an independant league. Everything is taken care of and I get $500 a month to do something I love, not a bad deal.

Well the housing situation is beyond fucked, instead of host families we have these ghetto ass places, currently we have no shower and roughly 16 guys staying in a 6 bedroom place. We also have no mattress, they are supposed to be here by Tuesday. Food is not paid for like they claimed until games start. Oh and my wallet got stolen so I'm pretty much screwed for awhile.

I have been reduced to going to Panera Bread for free internet because we have none at the so called house. God pro ball is a dream come true LOL.

So today I got home from my fishing trip and despite being tired as an ass I played like 2 hours of poker. Ended up 1.2k playing NL400 so that's really nice. I have far too few hands to say anything about the skill level but so far it's been really easy. Anyway, I made some goals for the next month:

At least 5k profit
30k hands
Move up to 2/4

A new long term goals is to have a BR of 30k online before the end of 2007. I've got a little less then half of that right now (I've withdrawn like 1/2 of my profits and put into the stock market), I'll probably have to withdraw a decent chunk of money and I can't play that much this fall unless I decide to take a break from law school so I think that's a resonable goal. I'm so fucking happy that I started playing poker and I really want to thank you all again for all advice, flames and comments. I pretty much can't make a list over all the people that have helped me right now, because it'd be far to long, but I might try later. Anyway, you probably know who you are and I'd like to ad that I pretty much like most people on this forum so and if you ever need something in the Uppsala/Gävle-region of Sweden just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

for MMA

I'm withdrawing a large % of my roll from Pokerstars and FTP to put towards MMA training.

Poker, however fun it may be on occassion still has nothing on sparring and training MMA.

I've been out training for a little over a year. So I think it won't take TOO long to get back into it

Starting my program today.

I'll keep you all updated with progress and hopefully (many months down the road) I'll get a fight

I'd like to cut down to 170 and put on muscle from there. I'd expect this to take a few months.

Havent updated in a while, my stupid computer wont connect to webpages, only poker sites and aim. its really awful, i cant even connect to FTP anymore because there is an update and i cant get to the webpage to dl it. sick beat. so right now im posting this on clint's (beatifulman) computer

oh well, here is a quick list of what has happened so far this summer.


-I've done pretty shitty during the series. so far ive played 15 events and have only cashed in 2 for small cashes. ive bubbled 2 and busted out in the money with aces in another. basically running really bad in them cause ive played very well in 13 of the 15 events (played bad in the plo rebuy and the stud8). but thats ok because...

-the guys im backing are doing really well. from the last post, everyone knows mig won a bracelet, and i bought a percentage of online mtt player brett favre for the series, and he just got 2nd in a 2k limit event. kind of funny, i havent met him yet, but im really happy for him and me of course

-the first house i moved into was across the street from a bunch of degenerate white trash meth dealers. not joking. nancy martin (martine23's mom) is my hero though, she found us this awesome new house. its called a mini castle. heres a link to it:

-this guy named thenut21 got 2nd in the 1k sunday for 158k, but lost hu with KK v AA and first place got 310k. i guess he went on lifetilt after that, cause he lost his mind and started playing 4 5k hus at a time. i managed to sneak a game in vs him and won. check out our sharkscopes, mine looks pretty baller with the straight line up now and his looks so hilariously sad:

-i am doing the online broadcast of the 2k nl final table today. ill be doing the poker commentary and there is a guy who will chime in with jokes and ads and other commentary type things while im babbling. you can watch the feed on www.worldseriesofpoker.com it costs 50 bucks to sign up for all the broadcasts for the series, but there are a few really good ones to watch, like dirksens final table with zeejustin commentating and the one brian and taylor did.

As the topic allready indicates June had a major impact on my life.

In the middle of the month out of nowhere i got Tinnitus on both my ears.
The high-pitched whistle that just will never stop
The cause is not totally clear since there are some factors that could be the reason.
There are over 800 causes that could lead to Tinnitus

In my case the 3 likley reasons were
1) High Intensity SPort training combined with lack of sleep.
2.) I got punched on the ear quite alot while fighting
3.) 2 of my computer fans got quite loud and anyoing over the years and i spend almost 10+h in front of the PC on saturday and sunday. This could have been stressfull for my ears combined with the lack of sleep and the preassure to work concentrated on University stuff in front of a noise machine. ( My PC)

I first noticed the Tinnitus on a Sunday evening.

I have to admit this stuff is nasty and i was seriously thinking about killing myself just to get some silence after the Tinnitus managed to stay for the 4th day.
It drives you mad to heare a high-pitched whistle 24h a day.

I visited a Doktor and i got some medicine and isolated myself from any noise.

No TV ,No Computer, no radio,no pohne calls
I didnt go to university ( but participated in the tests)

I tryed to sleep all day ( which was hella diffcult) and besindes that i did nothing than read some University scripts and wait for the Tinnitus to end.

Id say i have taken a look inside what hell could be.
Endless torture. A Pain the just goes on 24h a day and will never stop not even a single minute.

ON a side not i managed to pass all Tests with exscellent results ! LOL, Yeha , reading university scripts was the only thing i was able to do all day besides of trying to sleep ...
SO i rocked my tests pretty hardcore and even managed to score 1,0 in one while i did pretty good 2,X in the others. ( scala is 1,0 best 6,0 worst)

This has brought me to the conclusion that University is actually not that difficult if i d only concentrate enough.

I Also bought new silencers cause every high frequent noise drives me mad since my Tinnitus experience.

Zalman-CU for the Geforce7600GT <--- excellent !!!!
and a Papst 12dba for my Case.
Arctic cooling silencer for my CPU
And a Silent max noise reducing kit.

Now my Pc is really enjoyable silent.

Besides that i bought a new 20" Belinea WD Monitor
wow that Monitor rocks so hard !
And gives me endless pleasure to look at that incredible big screen.

My Tinnitus ended last Sunday !
And i am glad but somehow still schocked.
I experienced it 13days 24h/day nonstop and it was pure Horror.

So now i feel somehow changed and i take a lot of things more seriously.
Its not entierly the same but i feel somehow like people who experienced a schocking thing ( like a friend of them got murdered in front of them or sth.) that changes them forever.

I realized that life is acutally something that is probably more unstable than we are aware and that it is important to take things serious even when we dont see the actual sense in life.

I read Fira's Blog entry about everything seeming so worthless and his interesting point of view concering the determination of everything.
I felt the same before i got my Tinnitus.
I though that i dondt really care about being alive or dead cause its all senseless anyway.
But when your down for real and seriously think about killing yourself you will realize that deep inside you there is an incredible strong will to stay alive(survive).

if life was so senseless why do we have such a strong demand to stay alive ?

Okay i am almost 100% healed now
and Yeha i am glad about it.

Pokerwise :
I didnt play much this month (played only ~12days due to above reasons)
here is the sharckscope graph which is not entirely correct T_T but gives a good overall impression.

I think i will return to cashgame soon cause there is no big money to make with SNGs.

1.75 $ SNGS are good for making some easy extra cash , but you wont make more than
500$ a month at best even if you play 5h a day and have the skill of Rainkhan

the 3,40 $ are not too attractive giving you about the same profit but having the disadvantage of a higher buyin . besides that it doesnt really matter if you play 1or 2 table at micro stakes cause you reach the final table anyaways with the villian Lagtards.

the 6,50 $ 2 table SNGs might be attractive but i am not properly rolled for them yet and besides that i think most people at this stage could play some poker and its more about variance and luck then skill there.
I ll give them a try when my bankroll hits 200$ ( 30 buy ins) but i dont have too much expectations .

cashgame seems overall alot more attractive .
