June 200nl Results by Jamie217, July 01

Hey guys

So June is now over and I had a pretty good one. I was only able to get like 15k hands of 200nl in this month which was very very weak. Still managed to make some decent pocket change though so thats alright. Im almost up to 30BI for 400nl so I will be taking some shots soon most likely. All in all a pretty good month as I finished school now as well. As for July Id like to get at least 40k hands in and become a 400nl reg. Anyways heres Junes graph for 200nl. Hope everyone else is running good as well.

First blog/June update by Siro, July 01

Ok so I figure I'll start a blog to keep a nice history of how I do, and hopefully provide me with a bit of motivation to play more and improve.

Bit about how I started;

-Got $50 PP deal (with $100 bonus to be cleared)
-Cleared bonus at NL5 and finished with ~$300 BR.
-Moved to NL10 mid June.

Here's my June graph (from 11th onwards, when I got PT).

http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/6884/junejr0.jpg

Ok so I hit some huge coolers and combined with some sucky play thrown I'm losing at NL10(rake) which is a bit disturbing. I'm confident in my play to turn it way around though.

Goals for July;
-Play min 40k hands
-Build BR up to $450
-Finally buy full version of PAHUD

Time for coolers... by kiNGoFraGE, July 01

After a very good session, I played two more (each for about 1k hands) and in the first session I played badly but still I managed some profit. The second one was a cooler one. Ive been playing good but get three coolers and made one poor bluff and in a result i was down almost four buyins...

http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/2458/day2dh0.jpg

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221821 how he could have called that raise...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221824 he was running hot, hitting all of his 2, 3-outers
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221826 obvv

Probably if not these funky coolers I would be up, but thats ok. I feel that my all play was good but one (or two) poor bluffs.
I start thinking if the bluffing at this stake is correct, cause there is a lot of donks who call with bottom pair or sth like that...

Thanks June! by sTrAtO, July 01

What a great month for me this was. My bankroll was at $101 when June started. Played NL10 for a while and eventually moved up to NL20 when I reached $400. Now, my bankroll is at $943.17. So as for June, my total winnings were $842.17 . (Without counting the $65 I withdrew today from my account).

http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/9098/titanpoker30junelv2.jpg

July is going to be Gold
My Gold status will be finally activated this month. As a Gold member, I'm able to play in the Weekly $1,000 VIP Freeroll and the Monthly $2,500 VIP Freeroll. I will receive a $10 monthy loyalty bonus too. In addition to getting titan points a little bit faster than Silver members.

I'm sure I can update it to Platinum status by the end of the month

My biggest pot ever
I sucked out a huge $60.82 pot yesterday and it became the biggest one in my short poker history.

http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/8242/biggestpot2by9.jpg

Goals and things to work on at the end of the month
*Become a Platinum member.
*Win a huge donkament.
*Work on my patience when being at the Final Tables.
*More things will come to my mind later...

GL Everyone.

Why do I play poker? by T8Suited, July 01

I really wonder at times why I play poker at all.

I am a graduate student, and I don't make a whole lot of money, just ~$1.4k Canadian per month. But I hardly spend anything, either. Therefore I have yet to find an excuse to cash out a single dime out of my poker winnings (other than deposit bonuses).

I have got a promising academic career in front of me. In the next half a year or so I need to write a good thesis and produce a couple more world-class chemistry papers to wrap up my degree. So why am I staying up late, at times until 4 in the morning, just to play a card game?

And why do I get so much pleasure for beating my lab-mates in our 3 or 4 times per week, $2 buy-in tournaments?

Therefore, and unfortunately, I must conclude that winning at poker satisfies my ego more than my financial need.

I guess poker for me would be a productive leisure activity, better than going to a movie, playing pool or pitch & putt golf, because it makes rather than costs me money. Otherwise I shouldn't really be playing that much.

But poker is such a fun game. I am a fun-loving person. I don't know.

---------------------------------------------------------

The latter part of the week was mildly productive. I pushed my bankroll over 4k for the 1st time ever. I had a brief, slightly losing Thursdays session, but my long Friday night session was satisfactory. That night my bankroll started at 3900, peaked at 4190, but I then lost a whole bunch with loose calls, AA vs set, and an unsuccessful 12-out flop semibluff. Obviously it was time to quit. I ended the night with $4030+ (+$130 over 1.8k hands for 7PTBB/100).

Hands from my sizzling Wednesday session:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/220026
KK, AI on a Q76 board. On a bad day my opponent would show up with 66/77. But here he had TPTK instead, and he didn't improve.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/220027
QTs vs AA, turn A gave opponent top set and me the broadway straight. He went broke.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/220028
Again, on a bad day opponent will show up with something else. But here he shows up with the only reasonable hand that I beat.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/220029
2 pairs with a suited gapper in a raised pot.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/220030
Funny push by my opponent with a busted gutshot, into my turned full house.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/220031
Value push was called by a donkey opponent with the underhouse.

Nothing spectacular on Thursday. Here are some Friady hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221774
AA, doomed when opponent setted with his 99. I pushed this river because it counterfeited many 2-pair hands. Of course that was just wishful thinking on my part.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221775
Monstrous pot with a turned ass-end straight that held up. Assassin7 was a multi-tabling regular, and he took forever to call that turn push.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221776
AJ, outkicking trips. Pwnage.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221777
AK, limp-reraise, flopped trips turned full house. Skeptical opponent called my value push.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221778
I had 113 pocket pairs and flopped only 2 sets the entire night. This was one of them. Another value push was called.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221779
Another AQ vs KQ outkicking TP. I called down only because opponent was a donkey. Again I was lucky opponent had the only reasonable hand that I beat.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221780
A fun AA hand.

Thoughts on Aggression & June Update by gawdawaful, June 30

After checking out ggplz's blog, and extensively comparing his stats with my own given that we play at the same stakes, I made an interesting discovery:

Back tracking to when I first started using PT, I had no idea that the aggression factor did not automatically include preflop aggression. So for the longest time (after having worked on being more aggressive,) my AF hovered around the mid 2s or the low 3s. I felt fine about that. Until of course I realized that it wasnt including PF AF. That checkbox changed my perception towards my own aggression for good. Long story short, I went from being happy with my "3 AF" to, WTF I'm a mid~high 1AF donkey.

Today, while comparing my stats with ggplz's, I unchecked the box again to get a general idea of how my AF compares postflop to his. To my surprise, my total AF went DOWN, meaning that my preflop AF > postflop AF (so the 3 streets combined)
This discovery was a bit surprising of course. How should I interpret this? I'm not sure yet. But I'm going to work on a few potential explanations and swirl it around in my head. Meanwhile, feel free to jump in and provide your ideas and insights + improvements.

Fast forward to my June. After exploding out of the gates in the first 9 days, I was up at one point, $3.7k (after about 13k hands) playing 100NL. One massive heater. It felt great while I was riding it, stacking people left and right and simply could do no wrong. Of course, variance is variance and it wont be complete without a cold front. The two weeks following that heater, I dropped a solid 2k on coolers, spews and suckouts. I also spent a fair bit of money playing tournies and WSOP ME satellites, so my winnings this month is a bit all over the place.

Moving on to next month's goals, I'm aiming to bring more structure & discipline in my life. I'll only have classes on Mondays from now on and since I bought a laptop, I dont trust leaving that in my bag while I workout at the school gym. So, I'll take out a membership. I'm lucky enough to live within 10minute walk to a gym/pool rec center place so the goal is to go everyday in the morning and workout or swim, go home & shower, then hit the tables. Hopefully I can keep this up + play lots of poker.

FTP update:
I forgot to mention that I swapped some cash on to FTP ($200) and started playing there. The plan was to grind 10NL until $250 and hit up 25nl. After getting to $215, I was tired of 10nl and went ahead to 25. Long story short, they suck at 25nl very badly and the $215 roll became 400 something. Today was a tourney day for me. Played in $3r, $20 1R 1Addon, $10+1 180man, $20+2 180man, $10+1 15k guaranteed on stars, supernova free roll, silverstar free roll, and monthly 100k free roll on star & a 14k guaranteed on FTP. I pretty much bombed it up on stars, but I finished at a moderate mid 20s in the FTP tourney and pulled down a clean 50 or 60 profit or something. So my FTP roll is just over 500. Plan: move up to 50NL at 700.

Life:
After hating life/school(gay) because of this one gayass course, I received some sick good news. Background: I have not gotten anything below a B- in any course since um, Fall of 2005 (English 100something, intro to prose genres). This semester, I was just getting raped up the ass in my 6 week psych course. Managed to pull two 62s on my midterms and a 65 on my paper. I figured for sure that my B- or better streak is over. Decided it was better to play poker the nights before the exam and just cram on the day of exam (started at 3:30). I somehow managed to luckbox a 78% on the final. Furthermore, since the psych department at my school scales everything, I managed to luckbox a B final grade. Kickass. Ship it. Suck it bitches.

Um, yah. Anyways, anyone have suggestions on dealing with motivation problems? I've been slacking way too much this week. Since the 25th, I've only logged 7.5k hands, which pales in comparison to the 61k total hands logged this month.

Supernova 1st Win! by mrpav.com, June 30

Hi everyone, what an odd day. I went to a driving class because i don't have a G2 yet so i had to wake up at 8am today wich is really early considering i usually wake up around 10-11am. Since the morning i'm so sleepy the whole day so i said no cash games today because thats too much for my brain to process at 1 time, so i just played 1 table of the supernova tournament and jesus christ i won. It doesn't matter how good of a player you are you need a little luck somewere in the tournament were it changed things around and it happened here =) Anywho, going to go play some basketball with some friends of mine in an hour, here were the stats for the tournament =)

Green is good by Critterer, June 30

Lol typed out a huge blogpost and then hit back and GG its gone.

Today started bad but i played well, didnt make any spews and despite massive coolers/suckouts over the first 1.5k hands i basically broke even, which was pretty good. It was like win small small small small then suckout for full buyin back down to evens.

Ah well, hit a heater towards the end and won my biggest pot ever:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221584

And lost a set under set for 1.5 buyins and called it a day.

Still, nice day overall. Ended up +4 buyins which is great and means over the last 3 days im now up jsut over 2 buyins.

BR on $520

Heres stats+graph:

So happy times

Running HOT by kiNGoFraGE, June 30

Hmmm hot or really hot

My stats form last session:
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/8500/day1lv3.jpg

Ive been playing good but had some two troublesome hands:
I don't know if this kinda play is good in a long run, but this guy was bluffing a lot and overbetting almost every pot

This was a difficult one. Firstly I put him on a set, but he raised so qucikly + his AF = 4 I change a decision and put him on a draw (87) or some fancy top pair. How do You think guys?

Cheers

A session in the green! by Peligroso, June 30

Well, I'm a bit amazed myself, but it's true. I plussed today!

613 hands and plussed an incredible $27 . The session went pretty much up and down as demonstrated below:

http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/8125/graphye0.jpg

Reason that I stopped playing after 613 hands was basically that I needed a day of green stats for my self-confidence.

Stats:

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/6323/statsln1.jpg
Yes, my W$SD still sucks ass, but apart from that I'm getting a good feeling of the game that I'm playing right now.

Hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221347 (ouch, TT, flopped trips vs flopped straight)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221371 (QQ vs AA, badly played I guess, should I have folded this pf?)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221378 (Terrible play by me, no excuses, should have folded on turn or maybe even pf)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221356 (won a nice one with 33 vs QQ)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221360 (won one with aces!)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221361 (Really sweet hand with QT tbh)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/221402 (Played this hand really bad but opponent played it even worse)

June summary by anon, June 30

I don't even know how to call this month, i was pritty busy at the beggining with the exams, but since the 15th i was completly free and put quite a lot of effort in poker. It went decently i guess. I would say like 25 days of the month were decent and the rest were awful. But anyway i am fine with the results, i losened up to 18/15, which i think is fine for 8 tabling. but still want to run 20/16, this is to be fullfiled in the feature. So anyway here are the results, they are from differente db, so they will be quite a lot of SSs.
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/1018/sosoggplzoldbp8.jpg
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/350/idanonoldnd5.jpg
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4879/sosoggplznewqo0.jpg
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/2513/idanonnewhd9.jpg
Everything would be totally fine if there was no this last graph of 400nl:
http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/1624/nl400kf4.jpg
Well anyway i guess i should be happy with the results of the month and i hope i will be able to give a try to 400nl in the middle of the next month.

Break Even by GogoKodo, June 30

Well this isn't very many hands since I've been in spring semester (which just ended), most of these hands were played in the last 2 days. NL10 has been giving me a headache, I seem to swing up and down a lot in my sessions, getting paid off only by medium/short stacks and then when I happen to take a cooler it's against a big stack, such is poker. I'm definitely planning to play a lot of hands during the summer since I don't have classes or a job.

End of June by ConquistadoR, June 30

My final results.

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/6270/junexn6.jpg

As you can see, at the middle of the month my new approach to the game started. You can see at the graph what kind of tilt monkey i was before, its really sad. But at the same time its good because i hopefully have learned something from it. I am really optimistic with poker again, and i think that July will be (hopefully) a great month again!

Here a closeup only from the newstart of NL25.

Hi by kiNGoFraGE, June 30

Hi,

Im David and I come from Poland. Ive been playing poker for 1 year I think, but seriously since February. In April I played NL400 and I tried to move at NL600 but I got some badbeats and hit a downswing and my roll decreased from sth like $12k to about $2k. I think I was playing good but have no luck.
Now my roll is about $6k but Ive made some withdrawals and have only $3k at pokerrooms (as I am a tournament player I have 1,5k at tournnaments and 1,5k at cash games)

Wish me luck
