After yesterday's hellacious sessions I woke up ready to WIN. I've been finding the tables pretty soft when I play between 7am-9am my time, so when I saw it was 8am I decided it was worth a shot. It went very well as I finally ran like god:
Since getting back from my boat trip I've been on a bit of a poker kick. I've got a seriously insane travel schedule this month (as detailed in an earlier blog post) so I'm not going to get much poker time. This was kinda my 1 week of the month where I could really focus on playing cause the rest of the time I'll be traveling and hanging out with family.
My brother, fiance and I came out to my dads house on Monday to hang here for the week. He's outta town and my mom is on this crazy work kick with a deadline for a book they're writing. If we'd chilled there life woulda been hectic. I had Mon-Thurs to focus on poker and today I have to leave my cave and re-enter the real world. I'm taking my fiance out on a shopping spree for her birthday and a haircut / hair coloring at a fancy salon. Then we head to my mom's place for a belated thanksgiving dinner since the family was spread out traveling around the world on thanksgiving day.
I'm happy with my littl intensive poker week though. Started off horribly cause my 10 day trip was enough to get me to forget soooo many basics. Most importantly I lost my patience... I got back eager to win money and that lead to losing lots of money. Then I got my shit back together but variance decided to make me its bitch. But I learned a LOT and have opened up my game even more, and I feel like I'm at a peak right now. It's a great feeling. I also know I have a lot to learn, but I feel like my brain is soaking it in.
So let me just throw down my PT stats and some graphs for this last week since returning from the boat:
I hope to keep playing and keep updating this blog, but who knows if that will happen or not during the next few weeks. Thanks to everyone who's been reading, commenting and especially giving advice on hands. Happy Holidays!
Anime Review Anyone? Here's My WORD Bitches!by JonnyCosMo, December 14
Going to be in Vegas in 14 hours. Yea I know I'm a little late with the main event going onto the 2nd day, but whatever I'm coming. For those who don't know, Mig (46k), Daut (35k) and Rain (40k) all survived to Day 2 of the $15,000 Main Event. Hopefully they can get something happening on the 2nd day. But right now, they are a distraction... because I'm studying for my last final exam. Fuck everyone that is in Vegas right now! I hate you all (until tomorrow)!
On another note, this week I decided to spew some money into some more useful than a sweatshirt. Got a set of Bose speakers for my computer, a new cordless mouse & keyboard, and a baller ass gaming mouse pad. Yes I'm preparing to be a monster at DOTA. I also got a few anime DVDs, that I will quickly review here:
Kurau: Phantom Memory Summary (from Wikipedia because I'm lazy like that): Dr. Amami is a tireless scientist working in the field of alternative energy who at the beginning of the series is on the verge of a major breakthrough in the area of Rynax energy. On her 12th birthday, his daughter Kurau accompanies her father to the lab where an experiment goes horribly wrong and she is struck by a bolt of this energy and falls unconscious. When she wakes up again, it is found that her body has been taken over by the Rynaxes who are actually living organisms and not just a form of energy. One of them is too weak to awaken for ten years, which it eventually does by spawning an identical twin of Kurau, only having the body of a 12 year old. These two people look and interact very much like two sisters. Kurau grows up to be employed as an "Agent": a freelance operative who takes any job that's potentially too dangerous or illegal to involve normal private eyes or the Global Police Organization (GPO). Although barely in her twenties, Kurau is already one of the best in the business, and the rumor is that there's no job she won't take, or anything she can't do. Very few know much more than that, however, because there's no one who really knows her and her past is a complete mystery. In truth, the Kurau the world sees is actually the result of a freak accident in which her younger self's body became fused with an energy-being called a Rynax. This is not a case of two beings sharing one body, however, as the two personalities have merged into a new composite creature that shares two different pasts. As a result, Kurau is the ultimate loner, not quite comfortable with human society and forced to shun close relationships with other humans lest they discover her secret. At the same time, she longs to be reunited with her Rynax "Pair," whose essence sleeps inside her.

CosMo's Word: This series is such an epic fail. I'm sorry to say, but I am truly disappointed. Pretty much the only DVD from the series worth watching is the first one, since thats the one she does all her Agent ninja style ass kicking missions. After the first DVD, the story takes a disastrous turn for the worst as it becomes all about her twin counterpart "Christmas" and how she loves her so much, and then there is some crying when Christmas is captured, and more crying when they reunited, and then more crying when she rescues her father, followed by more crying when she starts talking to him. OMFG!!! Such a good story line turned to total shit. So disappointing!!! This series would be half decent if they just edited out all this emotional crying bullshit. It puts me on the sickest life tilt. The art is A+, the music is A+ as well, the storyline started at a strong B then quickly fell to a solid F (and yes I'm using a letter grading system rather than the 1-10 scale because I'm educated unlike some of you unschooled fucks). So overall: I'm giving this series a D+ because the first DVD is actually pretty awesome.
Ergo Proxy Summary (again from Wikipedia): The story begins in a futuristic domed city called Romdo,[1] built to protect its citizens after a global ecological disaster. In this utopia, humans and androids (AutoReivs[1]) coexist with each other peacefully under a total management system. A series of murders committed by berserk robots (infected with the Cogito virus) starts to jeopardize the delicate balance of the social order. Behind the scenes, the government is conducting secret experiments on a mysterious humanoid lifeform called Proxy, which is believed to hold the key to the survival of mankind. Re-l Mayer is assigned to investigate some of the murders with her AutoReiv partner Iggy. She encounters a Cogito-infected AutoReiv and a fast and flexible monster. She later learns that the monster was a Proxy, the same sort of creature as another main character who normally assumes the guise of a citizen named Vincent Law. After being hunted down, Vincent leaves Romdo, and Re-l tags along to discover the truth behind the Proxies and the domes.

CosMo's Word: This shit is pretty fucking awesome. No doubt one of the best DVD's (of any genre) I've seen all year. Let's start off with the art, the opening sequence is just done so well (youtube that shit if you don't believe me). The entire series is very clean, and all of the action sequences are are very fluid, unique, and unrepeated (watch Dragon Ball Z if you don't know what I mean about action sequences being repeated constantly). The music is just okay, kind of on the dark / goth side (except for the opening, which is again so awesome and you should probably be youtubing that shit as you read this) but it's very fitting with the story line. The story is just awesome, with a ton of historical references subliminally woven into the series. The plot becomes a little hard to follow towards the end, but I think the series ended in such a way that it left you wondering but at the same time completed the story well. The only criticism I have for this series is that I wish there were more action sequences since the few that were actually put together were done so well. This DVD series receives a solid A.
I got a few other DVD that I haven't watched yet, but once I do I'll put up a review for them. If anyone has seen any good anime DVD's recently, definitly leave a comment, I'm interested in watching new things.
Main reason is, I promised Naz, I'd write several articles for the site and it'd be cool to see if I can get any good suggestions. So if you have something good in mind, plz let me know.
Another reason is that it'd be nice for motivation and tilt control I guess.
For the first article, I'm thinking about writing about the fundamental stuff and see what misconceptions people have about the most basic things in poker. Coming up in 3-4 days.
I saw this over at TL.net and I must say, this is a pretty bad way to get shot down by a chick IMO

I always found it hard to attack people who commited suicide for being selfish because one couldn't really fathom what was going through their head at that time. I know a girl from High school, her name was Melissa. She was into gay rights and such. She was a lesbian herself. I sat by her in mythology class and we got to know each other a little, but then I got to know her better when we started to talk on AIM rougly 5-6 months after high school. She was sexually interested in me although I was a male. I came back to town and after about 4 months of chatting with her online I had planned to meet her in person at the coffee shop with her girlfriend. Well she never showed up because she jumped off a bridge into the willematte river downtown and killed herself. Her body was found like 4 days later.
Been using the Auto hand posting tool that was in the news a few days back. Seems to work fine but sometimes it sends the wrong hands in. I finish my session and go look at LP and there's a bunch of random hands posted... So what's the trick? Do I need to tell it to post once the next hand has started? Do I need to do it while the hand is in progress?
Also it might be that as I'm multi-tabling another table pops up right when I tell it to post a hand, and then it takes the last hand from another table...
Anyway, the only thing I'd like to add to it is the ability to pick different hands for it to auto-post. Maybe I just didn't read the directions well enough, but being able to look at your hand history and autopost from there would be great... actually that might work... shit, I'll go re-read it now.
EDIT: Wait, I'm an idiot. THAT IS HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE USED. HAH! So that probably explains the random hands - I probably had the hand history open on the wrong hands.
Ah well, live and learn.
As long as I'm editing, I might as well mention that I took a break and ate dinner while watching the Bronco's play... they started off ok but reverted to being the Denver Donkeys by the end, losing the game and their shot at the playoffs. Then I got back on the comp and 5 tabled NL50 for about 2 hours and played awesome. I definitely play well when I'm on 5 tables and am going to stick to it. I keep reverting to this 8-10 table shit when there's lots of laggy tables to choose from, thinking that if I just play tight I'll win. It kinda works sometimes cause when I rush I rush big, but I think that I leak a hell of a lot more too.
So here's the final graph for today. Goodnight all!
I played about 3hours today and am up around $10 at nl2 FR. I was fourtabling (because I have a low br and can't afford to play more tables <.<) so however many hands 4 tables of FR over 3 hours is is what I got in today.
Sennpu is my hero. I added him on msn yesterday and he has helped me sooooooooo much <3
Anyway it was a pretty solid session. Some funny hands and a couple extremely gay hands. I actually ran pretty bad. I had a couple good hands but never really got the nuts to be called down to the river the few times I had them. I'm not saying I ran terribly but there were enough bad beats to say I didn't run good <.<
I had around 30 pp's and hit two of them for trips, Kings and 6's. I swear I had 7's at least 12 times, never hit.
EDIT: Nevermind, here's the graph. I actually recovered from my horrible start to the day. Then I donked it off over the next 1,000 hands or so... FUCK
i've been having moderate success at 6max since switching from fr halfway through nov. i started at 100nl, varianced a bunch, moved down to 50. i learned 50nl kinda sucks and ended jumping to 9 tables (from 4) and playing a fairly robotic 17/14 game. after running at 2.65bb/100 over 27k this month (lol tilt+spew), i decided to take some shots at 100nl since i wanted to play real poker. seems to be working out so far.
Ok so I usually don't write too much about my real life but this was so fucking wierd and I'm pretty sure it qualifies under the category real life.
Ok,so this is how it starts...7pm sick of grinding DLing some torrents laying in my bed and just chilling...
So naturally I fall asleep,I have a dream about F4zi and midian discussing poker and carrying out dead bodies of two chicks while they're doing it,for some reason I'm on a absolutely other place but im talking to em,not about poker but on how to dispose dead bodies, now it gets even wierder...
I'm on my usual busstop waiting for a bus,a bus passes and all the people waiting get in beside me,so in rage I slash the buses tyres with a rock, which I pick up from the ground...
And the dream ends with Gabe Kaplan chasing me with a knife for not paying my bus tickets that, and yelling don't chase that you don't have enough equity.
Fucking nightmares, this shit is disturbing and for some reason during the entire dreams (3 of em or wtf?) a song kept playing Korn - I will protect you.
Ain't sleeping no more tonight, fuck that, gonna go drink a gallon of coffee...And naturally I have no fucking idea what this all means, well except that Midian and F4zi are actually murderers.
Updated APPT Sydney fiascoby KeanuReaver, December 13
So after a nice couple weeks of profiling and me still passportless and pokerstars unwilling to grant me credit for the APPT Sydney ticket I won, I sent them another email to try and convince them to salvage something from the trip. For your reading pleasure:
"Thank you for your email,
I have been in constant contact with the agency I'm
going through to get my passport expedited and
processing of my passport is continuously being
suspended. I sincerely wanted to attend this event as
I've wanted to visit Australia for a long time but
after talking with the agency this morning it does not
seem like that is possible. After submitting every
possible piece of identification I could the US
passport agency is now requesting I submit a scan of
the cover of my high school year book and a scan of
the page in the year book where my picture is. This
simply is not something I can get within the next day
or two. I will have to wait until next week at the
earliest to get a copy of the yearbook which will be
too late.
I am extremely disappointed in your decision to not
compensate me with w$. I won the package less than 3
weeks ago, yet the processing of a passport without
expedited service takes 4-6 weeks. Infact, to cash out
of pokerstars using a check so that I could get the
money to get my passport as well as my plane ticket
takes 3 weeks. Epassporte, which I normally use to
process cashouts -- and is my only other option --
froze my account because it had over $5,000 in it and
they are taking an unbearably long time to unfreeze
it. I am telling you this because I want to make it
clear just how difficult it is to attain everything
that is needed, especially when multiple problems
occurs.
I have been a long time contributor to PokerStars and
have even managed to attain the second highest VIP
level you offer, Supernova. Poker is a very big part
of my life and PokerStars has always been a good
client for me but I simply cannot have $7,000 in value
lost like this, especially when I'm being perfectly
reasonable and requesting w$ in it's place -- money
that can only be used in big PokerStars events anyway.
I would greatly appreciate it if you would reconsider
your decision from my point of view. I am not being
unreasonable nor am I insincere, it has been a very
frustrating month for me in trying to prepare for this
trip and unfortunately everything that could go wrong
has gone wrong.
Thank you,
Mehdi Martin
aka KeanuReaver"
And today I just got their reply.
"Hello Mehdi,
We have reviewed your situation again and determined that we will allow
you to defer your package to next year. A note will be added to your
account that you have a W$7,000 credit that can be used only for future
APPT events.
We will announce the dates for Season Two of the APPT in March. When you
have determined what events you wish to participate in, please e-mail
registrations@pokerstars.com and they will help you with registration. If
the event you choose costs more than $7,000 you will be expected to pay
the difference.
We are sorry you could not join us in Sydney, but look forward to seeing
you at our events next year.
So I played a 2nd session last night hoping to get my BR up to 2k which proved to be disasterous. The deck pretty much slapped me in the face and I lost virtually every all in where I was ahead. Here's some of the hands:
Today I was about to start my homework when I realized that I could be looking at PokerEV instead! I really haven't paid too much attention to this program since I downloaded it awhile back as a lot of people had been saying it was inaccurate.
When I went into the stats tab I noticed that I was a really big loser w/o showdown. http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c35e2cab92bb5afe97dbe6291fb6fdb7.png
So with all that info, what am I likely doing wrong to be losing so much money on hands that I'm not even showing down? Am I being too nitty and folding too many hands that could be taken to showdown? Or is it my post flop aggression? I think I might be getting to aggressive post flop and trying to win too many hands.
Any help will be appreciated, I'm going to spend some time now going through some hands and post them a little later. Perhaps I can find a trend throughout them that is leaking some money.
I sat down to a painful 15 minutes today. Started off nicely, making a few nice plays, getting dealt a bunch of hands so I was playing pretty aggr and had a LAG image. Then everything went to hell and I got stacked 3 times in quick succession, then had to fold a few big pots after I'd put in a decent amount of money. I probably just went down 4 buyins in 15 minutes of playing. To top it all off I folded AA in a huge pot and the guy showed a bluff... my wrists are now asking "oh where art thy knife?"
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/335772 - The next hand at the same table, slightly tilted now and thinking about how he called with such crap on the flop. wrists wrists wrists
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/335754 - hit this hand on my other table right after getting stacked the 3rd time and 3bet a bit light and have to fold to a 4bet
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/335767 - Then my aces get bluffed and I'm ready to push all in on all my tables with air in frustration, anger and desperate hope of having something go my way.
Instead, I close pokerstars and come make this post.
So here's the sessions stats - lasted no more than 15 minutes, probably like 10.
