hahay. this month is terrible. so terrible that i was just forced to move down and play microstakes for a while just till i get that winning mindset again. the funny thing is, when your on a downswing, it really doesnt matter what limit you play, it'll just come to haunt you. and it did,for me, couldnt tear 25nl tables like before last two weeks, and my thoughts just got even worse than ever. today was a little different though, partly coz, some of my life tilt issues outside of poker were kind of fixed already and i felt ready today to take on online poker once again. went up 10bi on 25nl and it felt pretty good. so my deposit on ps which is around 750 is now almost 1120, im planning to get it up to around 3k this month if i can. then jump right back to 100nl or 200nl by redepositing my roll, if ever i do get to that point.i got 2k more to go, gotta go peace.
ugh. Running over 10bb/100 so far but obv small sample size because I can't motivate myself to play even though I could use the money. Spring break chopped 9 days out of the month for me, but still I have trouble playing 1k hands/day.
lagging up my style as of late, and has been working out pretty well. Trying to go from a 17/14 to a 24/21.
I know I'm playing well but arghhhh
in any case, taking shots @ 100nl and those are going solid. Hope to be 100nl full time by end of March.
the fluffier the better. generally stuff i can grab off of netflix so i don't have to hunt them down on torrent sites.
oh and just so this isn't a completely empty post, some poker thoughts.
this month has been going pretty good. im running slightly above expectation (a few buyins, although i think this is countered by the amount of coolers i've taken) and have made a little over $5k on the month for a 6.5ptbb/100 winrate. one thing i've really been working hard on this month is working with various forms of pot control and scaling bet sizes to induce certain things. i've found this works unbelievably well vs fish, stacking a 60bb fish with an overpair vs his 4th pair after minraising multiple times in the hand is so great.
i think i need to start mixing it up with regs a lot more often, im getting back up to the point where i can start taking NL400 and NL600 on again but i really need to get more consistent vs multiple types of opponents.
well I took about two months off from poker. school got pretty hectic and I on a downswing in the hu sngs. I think I'm going to play it pretty safe now and stick to cash games where the variance isn't quite so high. after about a week of grinding nl2 I tried nl5(both 6 max), here are the results from my very short session tonight.
I don't know if my VPIP or anything is really nitty for 6 max, but maybe you guys can give me some pointers since I don't know too much about cash. it's my spring break, so I'll probably have a lot more time to grind. hope to see you all in the hand forums, I'm liking cash games a lot
nope, not downswinging or anything, just feel like changing sites since i play ALOT more casual now.......was wondering how people have xferred larger sums like 3k+ to PS from FTP and such; would really really really hope i can do an $$ xfer with someone reputable. Some friends went with me to the mall to hang out and buy things. I bought a bunch of stuff because of my bday and we had fun. Then we had pizza while watching a soccer game.
During the night we head up to this club named "Studio" that I like a lot. I had tremendous fun joking and talking with my buddys. It ended a little early though (at around 2am) and I told a friend to drive my car cause I wasn't in the best conditions :D
I'm the new guy here. Came to this site by being a frequent visitor of teamliquid since i quit starcraft some years ago to stay informed.
I play Poker 2 Times a month with some friends i also started a pokerstars account about a year ago. All in knew about poker was the hand rankings and the rules thats about it. So i lost most of the time.
Since theres spring break atm and most of my buddies went home to their parents place i thought that i might try to get some basic knowledge. Remembered that there was a pokerforum attached to teamliquid so here i am.
I got that $50 on Titanpoker about a week ago and played some hours at the $0.01/$0.02NL tables as suggested in the beginner articles here. Also followed the advice about the hands i should play and the junk i shouldnt even care to see a flop.
Got about $85 on my account now from those games. Could probably be a lot more if the people would buy-in with the $5 max and not with just $1 =/.
Some hands after i started i was ready to let poker go, because i was majorly pissed at some guy calling my big raises while my hand was AA, his was 24 offsuit, and the flop was A 5 10 all different suits and he hit his 3 on the river still calling every raise oO. But well, i sticked to the "rules" of the beginner article and the money started streaming into my account.
Is there btw any "pokerslang"-dictionary? I feel kinda lost in most of the articles

From now i'll stick to cash games only, i've wasted like 1k in bis already and can't score big for shit, 4h-5h of solid play and your stack is all gone in one crucial hand and get paid what i can make within 100 hands of cash games.
1- it slows my br growth

So I've been playing 6max cash for a few days, I started at NL2 to get a feel for things even though I'm well rolled for NL10, I just wanted to get a sense of things, obviously crushed that for a few days, I've now moved up to NL5 I am up but things seem swingy. I think I may be trying to make some plays that just aren't +EV at these levels because of the level of thinking that these players employ.
This is my graph for NL5 so far (short sample size I know) but mannnn I ran bad last night and tilted a little due to a few hands, so I quit. I played really solid tonight and worked it back up though.
When I make a $100 profit at NL5 I'll move up to NL10. I'm trying to set goals so I can improve my discipline which will need to improve if I want to be a winner at cashgames.

I'm so sorry, I fooled you all into thinking I'm a winning 200NL player. I'm a failure. I can't grind online. I'm going to cashout my roll and become a live pro because apparently thats what all the failed online players do.
For the next little while, I'm going to just grind 100NL. For a fucking month. God. So tilted. I won't make any excuses.
