Im a typical kimchee+sc lovin gook college student that thinks hes good at poker. Used to play nl100 but made a huge cashout so now im only rolled for nl25. But I feel like this is a new beginning and want to take advantage of the forum/blog here at lp and try to improve my game. Ill post graphs on a weekly basis and some hands where i think i played it good but really didnt. Later.
I am officially a college graduate from Western New England College, with a BA (not BS) in Mathematical Sciences.
My future plans include taking an actuary test route to becoming a certified actuary in case I ever need or want a job. The test is on May 28th and I plan to go to a few graduation parties, have one of my own and then I'm off to Vegas to spoon with AJ (Doomer) every night whether he likes it or not.
At the end of April I had a few expenses come up and spent most of my money. No problem, I'll just pick a piece of ripe fruit from the money tree that is my pokerstars bankroll. I've been using epassporte and had grown accustomed to having almost instant access to my BR. Reality soon slapped me in the face and I've been poor ever since.
Fortunately I have a large cache of food stored up for just such an emergency, but yesterday I found myself yearning for a meal that didn't come out of a can and remembered my piggy bank. I dumped it on my living room floor and to my delight discovered almost $10 in quarters! I hurriedly got in my car and drove to the nearest fast food joint (with the needle massaging the E of my gas gauge) with my new found riches. Proving that I run good I won a whopper jr. and an order of chicken fries from those peel off things on the cups for a future meal.
Today the check that I requested on 5/8 finally came, still waiting on my e-check cashout from April 30th though. An interesting thing about the check, it was from a different bank than the last one I got which was Wells Fargo. This one was from some bank in Chicago but it was mailed from Canada. Pretty strange.
So my friends wanted to hit the casino today so I checked out the website and found that they did have no limit tables. Excited to try poker live, I called them up and reserved some seats (2.5hr wait, yuck long weekend) and made our way there. Having read Myth's articles about live hold em, I didn't feel hopeless because I knew there must be some players worse than me.
The tables were 1/2, max 100$ buy in (???) and considering my Pokerstars BR is 100, it was just intimidating once I sat down. My table was populated with young college students and middle aged casino regulars. There was this guy that tried to start a conversation with me but I ignored him and focused on my cards. That instantly labeled me as an asshole at the table and I could tell from their looks they wanted to bust my ass.
I folded the first few hands to get a feeling of a live game at a casino. I immediately identified the table as loose as people were betting like crazy with low pair or even nothing; Almost like 1/2cents at Pokerstars. The best thing in my mind was to tighten up my range and play premium hands only until I had some fear in them. Five minutes in, I get dealt AKo in dealer position. I raise about 8 dollars and everyone quickly folded except for this one, big black guy. I heard him earlier talking about Harrington's book so I figured he must know some OK poker. Boy, was I wrong.
So the flop comes out, A 2 4 rainbow. In my head i'm screaming OH I HIT OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG WHAT DO I BET LOLZZZZZZ but on the outside, I maintained composure and waited for him to make his move. He minraises me and I raised a significant portion of my stack to him back. He then says, "That's it? Isn't it past your bedtime kid?" Everyone got a good laugh but I maintained silence and watched him call. Turn comes, a Jack. By now I was thinking, "oh god what if he hit two pair or a set or something disgusting, omg omg" He raises me all in (he was deepstacked so he covered me well) and i'm sitting there, screaming internally. Did he hit something on the turn? Or was I being dominated from the flop? I don't know if it was a dumb call or not (you guys can criticize me later) but after a couple moments of deliberation, I called. After the river, he flips A 6. I have the superior kicker and double up within 5-10 minutes of sitting down.
The feeling of winning a huge pot live was amazing. Especially since I knew they all disliked me made it so much sweeter. I think the black man I robbed was the most well liked guy and some fat lady sitting beside him looked especially pissed.
Long story short, I lost my winnings nut flush vs set and the board paired on the river giving the guy a full house. I walked out of there without a word but after deliberating, I felt that I played the hand well and it was just bad luck. My friend who blows at poker won 300 dollars but surprisingly, I wasn't jealous. I knew that in the long run, i'd be ahead. I'm going to keep grinding microstakes on Stars for now and build up my BR so that I can continually buy in comfortably at live games if I get hit by a bad beat or something.

I've been talking to my friends about poker recently and this game seems to have a huge negative connotation attached to it when it comes to profitability. They love to play casually but when I mentioned a steady, consistent overall profit, they scoffed and said it was mostly luck. I've made the decision to stop telling them about what i'm trying to achieve on Pokerstars because really, it's pointless if they're so close minded. I'll let my wallet speak for itself when I get to a decent level. You guys are the reason why I believe that with improving your game constantly, profit is just one of the many benefits from learning no limit holdem.
so ive started to put in a lot more hands today because that's my plan starting today - to really actually grind through a lot of hands as i can possibly play in a day. so far today i think ive done like 3k already and going to play again tonight about another 2 or 3k hands. im dividing it into shorter sessions with lots more tables and so far things have been decent enough, but lately a lot more midstakes players have been like fucking around at 100nl lately. i hope its just their version of my "25nL" adventures. i saw yugless, capaneo, studboy and some obv 200nl up players play at 100nl. now i really table select because of this, profitability in multitabling FR is a little harder coz of the increase in the number of regs and midstakes ppl moving down here. im not complaining though, its just something i will have to deal with if i want to continue to improve as a player. ive made a 5 to 6bi stoploss from now on, coz playing a ton of tables really fucks me in the head when i get like 3 coolers on separate tables at the same orbit. so i gotta increase my stoploss and my playing time as well and not be too concerned with a 2bi loss at say 200 hands - its really standard ive noticed lately.
so my sessions today were like i lost 4 and just kept on won back 3 then won 2bi giving me a bin win for the day so far. i hope i can add at least 3bi later tonight. thx. glhf ppl

Basically decided to blog it up again because thats what has helped kept me going when i grinded hard a couple months ago, taking a 600$ BR to about 4.5k at it's high point. Swung down about 1200$ playing 100nl FR and then cashed everything out after i got bored with poker. Kept 2kish for myself and moved 1k to stars. Went insane with stars software for some reason (doesnt click with me) and xferred 1k back over to FTP. Somehow was unable to beat 50nl FR (lol) even tho i was a 4-5bbish winner for a decent sample size and got knocked down to 600 bucks.
Time to regrind through SNG's and 25nl until 1k to hit up 50nl again. This time no cashing out simply because i lost my great summer job and school is soon -.- .......need ez monies

How do I tell if I have a 16: 9 or a 16:10 widescreen on my laptop? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I'm not sure exactly wtf they're asking (is it a ratio or just the inches?)
As far as size by inches goes my laptops screen is 14.5 horizontal and 9 vertical. Not sure where the 16: 9 or 16:10 comes into play. Diagonal (corner to corner) it is a little over 17 inches.
Halflife 2 keeps freaking out on me when I'm playing and I think maybe if I tell it the right screen setting it will fix the problem. My 3 options are:
really leaning more towards the lcd tvs since they cost less than 30 inch monitors with bigger size but less resolution. and they are actually on sale a lot unlike the dells

after i broke 100 i deposited 20 to recieve 80 bonus and tournament ticket.
im overall glad with my game, cause it looks like i know what im doing bm wise, but some of the moves during the game are just so stupid,that i am even ashamed to place hh.
im especially happy with the way i handled this huge downswing:
i played really bad and run bad but thanks to patience, discipline and strong will with a bit of skill i managed to brake even and start winning again. it was great experience and for the first time i started to analyse the reasons of this downswing with pt, i focused on my game, tried to find the things i do wrong and it worked. if i will deal with every other downswings the way i handled this one im fine with that.
but my graph still says much about my game. it so unconsistent. i have to work a bit on this. i saw lately bcm 11 graph and its just m.. fucking amazing. it looks like a starway except theres no horizontal lines, its only going up
i changed my plan a bit. according to it im now properly rolled to play 10's but i will wait untill i have at least 160 usd, or even maybe 210. will see. i know im crushing 5's but there are still some holes in my game i need to fix, like i make too many calls and dont give credit my opp for a hand. pplz here make some stupid plays but the level is much better than at 2's. anyway its still preety easy to win. i play two turbo table at the same time.
also played 2 tournaments recently, but i run so bad. guy broke my qq with qj in first and jj with 64 in second.
tommorow there is another big tournament in the city and i want to win it so badly. last time i played like a pussy (doesnt happen too often) and run bad as hell, my AK got called by TT and lost and then i run with AK into AK and its over. so wish me luck

over to my Mom's house in rural bumfuck, where she just moved. Since I know nobody in this backward redneck community I planned to just kick it and play some online poker in my ample free time, make like 100k, and cash it out right before I head to Vegas so I'd have some extra ballin money.
Well my foolproof idea has gone to shit because nobody will play me (except Genius28 et all) so basically I spend 6 hours doing nothing except occasionally interrupted by a gentleman shortstacker who will proceed to pull miracles straight out the ass and rally 20bb into 80, then leave. Now, lets remember that once infinite moneypool online has dried up ever since the whole -300k present to Present, cashouts (gotta pay the bills imo), a certain disasterpiece of a cash game stake, and me brilliantly moving a dece chunk of $$ onto the wasteland that is Cake Poker. So now I'm left with alot of money on a site that will take approx 3 months to cut me a check, and my money on FTP is being taken 3k at a time by gays. So I've basically racked up 11 straight losing days while playing approx 30hands/day.

I had the brilliant idea to cashout all my $$ online so I could spend my entire days from after WSOP on for the rest of summer not playing poker and doing something like travel and all that stuff. Might be a possibility if I keep this up. This is the first time I've felt poker wasn't fun anymore.

i have been struggling in poker recently. ive been running kinda bad and ive been making some bad plays here and there, as they usually go hand in hand often times. this is ok, because i understand its necessary and if i continue to play well and play through it i will get my feet under me again. my concern is that im at a crossroads. i play NL100 and am well rolled for NL200. i choose to play NL100 because its cheap for me to get my confidence back and get my feet under me again. my problem is this...i currently play anywhere from 9-12 tables on my laptop, which for some reason i consistently lose on, much like ket mentioned has happened in his blog. i was wondering if it is better for me to play 6 tables and concentrate more on those 6 tables and try to crush and improve my winrate, or should i continue playing 9-12? do i trade off a potentially higher winrate and faster improvement for logging more hands and playing more? i see people playing 40k+ hands and i havent had the time to be able to do that, and now that im out of school i can either play 9-12 tables logging 30-50k hands a month, or play 6 tables and get nowhere near there. does playing only 6 tables make it more likely ill have a better month? what do i do?
also anyone who can transfer some paypal money to me for stars money would be greatly appreciated.
