dragons existed in the realm before this series even takes place. How do you think the Aegon Targaryen initially conquered the seven kingdoms. Robert Baratheon was only king in this first book because the last of the Targaryen dragons was long gone so him and his boys (eddard, tywin etc) took out the mad king aerys cause it had to be done. Robert killed Rhaegar Targaryen on the Trident with his warhammer and was a beast so he became king (also why Viserys calls him the usurper; they did steal the throne) |

Book 1 >> season 1. Book two is bomb shit, but it starts off slow. Audiobooks = the shit for car rides, doing cardio at the gym, etc. |

Well im at book 4 now and i agree it starts declining, but i also read that at first he didnt even intend to write book 4 and it was supposed to be a five years gap in the story (before the action supposedly picks up again in book 5), but he changed his mind and made book 4 just to fill that gap? Could explain why its pretty slow |

i don't think book 4 is awesome, but i sort of appreciate what hes doing with it. its similar to book 1 in that its like a foundation for a ton of new shit. |
