Na man. Poker is a negative thing to do. We gotta at least be able to admit this. Some women don't want to associate themselves with someone who does something negative for a living. It is not really a failing of her. She just demands more of her life.

Oh please, poker is a negative thing?

Ya man. Rips your soul out. You become cold and numb. All you care about money vs. time worked. And that is if you're successful.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.

I wouldn't want anyone to force such a decision on me and I would think they were way out of line

Quit her so hard imo, never let a girl tell you what to do. I'm serious.

i can't believe you're even asking this question. if you actually 'love' her, you would do anything in the world for her. that includes quitting some retarded game involving cards and odds.

Thing is, if you do as she asked, she would loose attraction for you and be more likely to leave you anyway.

The real question is why are you playing poker in the kitchen???

No but seriously it depends on if there is a valid reason for her to want you to quit and not just some senseless hysteria, in the extreme case she is right you are probably an asshole of such epic proportions that she will leave you eventually no matter what.

This strongly depends on quite a few things

#1 How much does Poker improve your general life ( buying stuff , going out every weekend, feeling nice about the extra cash etc.)
#2 Could u feel fine (okayish) waking up in the morning knowing u wont play a hand of online poker ever again ?
#3 Why does she want u to quit in the first place ?
#4 Is it just a random girl u like or do u feel its the love of your life ?

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)

90% of people might come up with bad reasons (bad?) but 90% of poker players are fucking degenerates. if youre winning at 3bb100 at 50nl then keep playing but you need some serious life adjustments like sleep , work out and social schedual. if someone like your fucking GF feels so strongly that ur detracting from a relationship by playing poker then listen to them.

normal people make 5.88/hour in england and that is a respectable wage to live on and earn a GF. if you're making more tha that ad havig problems then revise your life goals

If she love you - she will accept you as you are. When you do your own things and don't follow the masses of people, you are unique and interesting and etc. So... don't loose your identity.

If better is possible, good is not enough!

Ditch this ho. If she won't allow you to play poker atleast as a hobby then she's obviously narrow-minded or just plain ignorant. A WOMAN who you have been engaged to for a year or so or a woman to you are married to is worth making these kind of sacrifices for (maybe) but not some dumb ho you just met and already wants to change you.

To be fair the guy probably goes on massive emo-rage benders when he has a bad day.

ask her to quit shopping and get a full time job

srsly, dont, not only because poker is ur source of income and prolly better than most jobs you can get now, but because you'll be whipped for life or ditched soon.

However if a gf is bitching about poker, it is a good reminder to take care of others aspects of your life. Play poker, dont let poker play you

Dude, wtf, a poker forum which 99% members are men isn't the best place for, let's say, impartial advices.

I play poker since 2008. I also have a GF. We´ve been together for 5 years.
In the begining, my gf thought that poker = roulette and also was worried about me.
I told her to trust me and started showing her the real thing, taught her basic rules, odds, etc.

Today, once in a while, we play some HU at home and she owns me, lol.

Don't quit poker, bro. Be patient. Teach her how to play, she'll like it.
Then, invite her to play some strip poker sessions.

do you think poker takes a lot from your life?
Shit man I quit poker for a couple of months and what do I do in my spare time-play dota or watch football :D

is/was it worth all the effort to become the poker player you are?
Fuck yeah. I am a sucky poker player but the hard core grinding days when I had 0 income and grinding $1c/$2c in 6-12 hr sessions 7 days a week are one of the best memories. It was fun, it was challenging and also quite surreal when I look back and I can't wait to go broke and feel something similar again.

you think poker stole a big part of your youth by sitting in front of a computer all day or at a poker table?
<- nerd, and my dayjob is sitting in front of a computer so...no.

Furthermore, anyone who really wants to get to the top of poker food chain and relies on poker as only income through marathon sessions absolutely has to keep in shape, have a good sleeping regime and eat healthily.
Thats the difference between a normal job and poker - I can play dota until 3am, go to work, space out for a couple hours during the day or have some unproductive days and nothing happens. Little discipline is required. You fuck up like that and under perform for one day in poker and BOOM - you can wipe out your whole month's hard work.

So when I was playing poker seriously I tried harder and was challenged much more than when I have a secure job in Insurance. Now I am a fat pig who doesn't care much and is way too relaxed about life.

you wish you could do all that money outside the poker world?

I can, and it will be extremely hard for anyone with decent career prospects in developed world not to make more money at a regular job than playing poker.
If i will go pro in poker, it will be because of my choice and love for the game.

Poll
Hard to imagine, my GF is begging me to go back to poker and stop playing the fucking dota:D

93% Sure!
