like seriously how did vera not armbar jones? if i was his size i coulda fucking armbarred jones jfc. so much for being a sick grappler.

i honestly think he was scared to get his guard passed. what a bish ass ninja.

was waiting for it, even calling it out a few times as he would just get his leg a little higher, but it just never came, the arm was there for it he just didn't take it.

overall kinda dissapointing imo

Bluentello vs Kongo -> Looker like minor league or something both of them are nowehere near the top level of guys like Lesnar,Mir,Valasquez,Carwin,JDS etc.
Kongos Takedowns were so bad and Bluentello didnt look good at any point in the fight.

Gonzaga - JDS Gonzaga looked just too slow

Vera-Jones Vera just didnt have the balls to try anything from the guard ... he even had wrist control and hip control at one point but didnt even attempt a submission
First viscious elbow of jones ends the fight

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)

JDS is s stone cold killer.. that slash motion or whatever it is he does during the intros is pretty funny lol, would be laughable if he wasnt so fucking good. heavyweight division is kindof exciting for the first time in awhile. I think JDS and cain are the most impressive/deserving of a shot, too bad the winner of mir/carwin has first dibs. I almost don't want JDS and cain to fight each other before they get a crack at the title. Maybe one of them gets the loser of mir/carwin first (probably cain) but then I'm not sure who JDS fights that would be at all interesting. a freakshow vs bobby lashey or marius?? lol

Jon Jones' wrestling seems pretty fucking sick since vera's td defense seems pretty solid (gave randy trouble anyway). You guys think that was an easy armbar situation? Like to the point where its ridiculous that he didnt pull it off?? (I don't know I'm asking those of you that train bjj) Regardless I can't wait to see jones vs some top flight talent. Seems to me like he matches up well against most of the division.. who even has good submissions at lhw? i never see fights end by submission at light heavy. Jones vs anderson silva would be pretty sick, but theres no way dana white would let that fight happen.. is there?

why is bunetello in the ufc? just a can or what? it looks like he hasnt trained anythign but boxing, and is in terrible shape.

Bunetello's contract with Affliction got carried over to the UFC when they were brought back in AFAIK. They kept him around cause he usually makes for exciting fights as he just goes out and bangs with anyone willing.

The armbar was there way too many times not to take it, at points Jones was willing putting his arm passed Vera's shoulder, almost looking like he was thinking of using it to post or something, many times Vera had wrist control and a high guard that could have been finished rather easy even by lower tier grapplers, if anything I would say Vera fought scared on the ground, like he was waiting for the last 30seconds or so to try it so even if he does miss it he doesn't lose position for too long.

JDS > Carwin > Cain > Mir

if you have money on it

I mean seriously if I didn't bet on anything thats aired or hyped, then I'd be bored out of my mind

JDS > Carwin > Cain > Mir

Thing is, carwin's only had 1 fight vs decent opposition, and he got fucking rocked pretty quickly, even if he won soon after. Hes got a great wrestling base obviously and its huge and insanely strong with hands that hit like sledgehammers, but he seems slow to me, maybe easy to hit, and definitely very unproven. Cain and JDS both have more impressive resumes, even if they occasionally let fights go past the 2:00 mark.

Anyone wanna speculate on upcoming HW and LHW matchups?

Fraser   Canada. Mar 22 2010 02:15. Posts 4605

wow actually JDS's ufc resume is super impressive. everyone he's fought have been solid fighters except stephan, the circus act, strauve, all other 4 are super solid wins.

strauve > yvel

sick record but he looks super shitty technically, really unathletic, but maybe his size makes up for it. yvel seems like a much more dynamic fighter at least, which would give him a better chance vs quality opposition. 2 wins vs overeem and a win vs kongo. i don't see anyone well known on struve's win list.

Stim_Abuser   United States. Mar 22 2010 03:42. Posts 7499

yea now that i think about it knocking out yvel on the feet is far more impressive than knocking out struve on the feet.

though i think jds will have a lot of trouble once he fights someone with good takedowns. hes only a purple belt in bjj and a semi recent one at that.

rofl yes cosmo sick call. did the elbow go right into the eye socket? is vera ok?

and yea i cannot believe vera didnt try an armbar. i mean im not saying id have finished it but my god i would have went for one immediately. we havent really seen jones work much from the closed guard, but he has beaten a few bjj black belts already so i dont think his sub defense is really his weakness (still think its his striking which is awkward and has lots of openings for him to get hit by straight punches), but he cant be leaving his arms hanging around when 3/4 of the top 10 205 pounders are bjj black belts
