Well I'm in gold right now and the top 3-4 people in the division keep getting moved to platinum consistently and pretty fast too, so if you're tearing it up in silver it shouldn't take you more than a couple of days to move up.

Things like this arent unheard of. An age of empires player was flown to saudi arabia to coach some rich guy. Achieved 2 things with my blog post: relieved my boredom and set a realistic price point for anyone who wanted to accept to accept.

I'm mainly a little surprised that they'd close a mostly benign blog post. If I posted porn or warez I'd understand but they'd close a post of someone offering coaching? I see people offering ridiculous coaching on blogs on LP all the time but it's never closed. People criticize the value or whether its worth it but its never closed. I saw TL close rekrul blogs before. Mods used to edit my posts to say things like "I'm gay." I used to think the liquid community was 100% childish fools but I guess comin here made me forget how absolutely bad teamliquid is.

Was thinking about it the other day, would it be unrealistic that like, several highstakes poker players who really wanted to get good at sc, payed a progamer for coaching, surely that'd be worth them while ?

paying for coaching during a beta is completely retarded in my opinion. Because so many things in the beta are going through changes, and build orders and units will completely change. Wait until the actual game is released before paying for coaching imo

prob should charge a little less then im sure at least a few ppl would be interested

It was over 10 years ago. The only contact I have from back then doesn't remember. He didn't charge I don't think. The guy just flew him and his wife over (i think it was saudi arabia might have been some other arab country). I remember he wrote a big trip report and included tons of pictures. I remember how he looks like but don't remember his online handle. About 30 yo, blonde, a bit tubby, teeth that needed whitening.

If you know anyone who played AOE back in the day they might know who.

The game is at beta and your knowledge of the game is .. well understandably, like everyones, nothing compared to what it will be in a year or so.
Then there's the fact that a lot of as good or better players are currently coaching at rates like $10/hr or $20/hr. How can you expect to be able to go 15x higher?

TL moderation is stricter because the forums are so much bigger, a lot of retards trolling and even if you're an oldschool legend your posts will be considered the same as a random forum troll if what you're offering makes absolutely no sense.

I think you - generally not your fault as most mods / vets on TL seem to think - are a bit detached for what's realistic to everyday people. 'Cause you clearly aren't one (again, I am saying this as a compliment, I'm not trolling you!) due to your very successful education / poker career.

There are better players than you who aren't as financially succesful as you, and thus would do this (and I imagine a few are doing this) for a fraction of what you'd be charging. If you thought that through before posting your blog, I'm pretty sure you would've realized that it comes off as a trolling attempt, even if you don't intend it to.

So yeah. I wouldn't just bitch "omg TL.net is run by MORANZ lately, but back in my time duhhh!" before thinking a little

P.s.: lol at anyone who pays for coaching at this stage of the game, just play it damnit. Every patch alters what's the best for you to do, you can't just get taught how to do it (or you could, but then it becomes useless). If you figure shit out on your own, you adapt faster to patches as well, and stay on top.

Edit: Also, you got on most people's nerves with your attitude in that flaming topic, whichever it was (Idra vs Smuft? fuck knows) (I believe it's a combination of what I've already adressed, I don't think your posts were really elitist "I am better than everyone else" but from a certain point of view it really came off like that. And TL mods are people too, staying objective is hard for everyone - hence I'm sure their feelings were involved when they closed your blog, apart from the aforementioned reasons).

That's not true. (unless it's a 4 player map and the T guessed your starting position wrong / doesn't do 8 or 9 rax reaper properly)

If your build / micro is right you can force the T to micro a lot harder than you have to and only suffer minimal casualties (remember: reaper movespeed w/o upgrade equals that of a worker, despite being faster than a zealot!). You have to buy time for your stalker to come out and then (esp. if he built a 2nd reaper) it's ez game.

I hear you can get beta keys now by preordering on amazon and then canceling your order (if you don't want it) after they email you the key.

Not if it's a 7rax proxy reaper tho. Nevertheless, it's possible to not die to the harass, you get that stalker out soon enough. It's notable that the terran is sacrificing some serious eco too to go this route. Often the only reasonable continuation is an all-in marauder+scv rush.

Either way, microing probes and zlots can buy enuf time to build that one stalker it takes to counter the harass
