He's not broke. People for whatever reason heard his original problems with online gambling and for whatever reason can't let it go. Apparently people don't change and grow. If they did, how could we judge them so we'd feel better about ourself?

he lost that 1 million with 2 days of winning it - there is no question the guy is broke - anyone that thinks differently obviously has no fucking clue. The guy has said himself he is broke, lost that 1 million within a day, and has heaps of people he owes money too - and is too lazy to pay the electricity until he is told it will be disconnected...

Yeah because the poker news is riddled with Matusows recent good fortune, and how hes pulling in huge wins all over the shop.

He will always be broke because hes addicted to gambling. Hes said it in interviews, hes placed bets for $100k+ that he knows he cant win, he just cant help himself.

Few people have any reliable information on his financial status.

If you knew anything about why Mike got arrested, you wouldn't make the comment that you did.

Point to a Matusow interview where he says that he is broke. He will talk about his past internet gambling issues. He will talk about his past sports betting issues. He has also said that he has come a long way with these issues. Did you not hear that one? Or did you and just decide not to listen?

Did you just decide to ignore the past few months where he's said on multiple occasions that he has started to get over his gambling issues?

Have you met him? Have you talked to his friends? Do you actually KNOW? Or are you just speculating based on what you've heard in the past.

i highly doubt mike has any sort of substantial bankroll
i also highly doubt mike is a winner in any game on full tilt
im speaking in uncertanties cause there is no way for me to know, but judging his performances in everything we see, he does poorly.
hes a fine tournament player but he lacks the concentration, dedication and most of all the discipline to put himself in a class of players where he should be.

I'm not saying he has a substantial bankroll. He is a winner in Omaha(he's one of the best in the world, source Huck Seed on 2+2) and recently has started winning at NLHE now that he has plugged some pretty big online holes.

Mike is no multi million dollar poker machine. You can check the datamining information that is out on the internet. He's a pretty big winner in omaha and has now started winning at NLHE. He isn't as good at NL as he thinks he is, but he's a very strong player.



His biggest leak now is that when he makes a big score he tends to blow it on sports better. It isn't nearly as bad as it once was and he keeps himself from making himself go broke. He's working on it but isn't by any means over his gambling issues. He also has invested money elsewhere. He's come a long way.


I dunno, knowing these things and having people rag on him as if he's some disgrace of a human being just bothers me. It's why I feel the need to post in this thread. He knows he has problems and he's working on them and improving as a human being. Why treat a man that is actively pursuing bettering himself as if he's a poor excuse for a human being? Can you all say that you are trying to better yourselves as people?

I don't know many people who can make that claim. Most have this "this is the way I am and if you don't like it, deal with it" attitude. It's pretty unattractive.

im in no position to attest that hes actually broke, the only thing iv seen is him getting totally dismantled on ftp. That link some1 provided which gathered high stakes winnings, had him at -250k+ in a week. Thats pretty bad for any1, no matter how rich u are. Now if thats loaned money, the man has a problem.

Consider the stakes he plays.

20buyin downswings/upswings are standard to anybody that plays high stakes short handed hold em.
