Blizzard usually doesn't post a release date unless they intend to meet it, but odds are this one gets pushed back till summer. However I wouldn't be surprised if D3 came out like 6 months or so later.

sc2 will probably be awesome just like any blizz games, and release dates are some kind of incentive for ppl to buy their shit on these stores NOW... nothing serious or official, they arent more informed than anyone else really.

The 2nd and 3rd campaigns could be years apart.
Note : You can still play Battle.net and the other races with just any one of these games.
"The second and third games] will be like expansion packs, but we really want them to feel like standalone products," said Blizzard's Rob Pardo.
Each campaign will be very different, with Pardo announcing the Zerg campaign will contain RPG elements. The Protoss campaign will likewise be differentiated by elements of diplomacy. In addition, the Terran campaign will feature a Protoss mini-campaign.
The campaigns are planned as concentrated, epic storylines, with enough content to justify a full release. As a result, the games will now feature more in-game cinematics and story content.
Blizzard added that the plans for the multiplayer component are unchanged by the splitting of the campaigns. However, some units will now be unique to the campaigns and will not be playable in multiplayer.
Pardo noted that the decision was necessary to maintain the quality of the product, the alternatives either being a long delay of the game, or a scaling back of the campaigns.
More details may become available during BlizzCon, which continues through this weekend.
SCII I'm not that excited about. The engine and models like way too Warcraft IIIish for my liking. Besides, it's near to impossible to replace Brood War in my heart.

weird not sure why they focus so hard on single player, when like 98%+ of the game is about how deep the multiplayer is

The reason they are deciding to release it as a trilogy (which I think is smart) is because we would have to wait much, much longer for a single release with all campaigns. As of now they are pretty much done with the multiplayer with the exception of beta testing, and a good way in on the terran single player campaign. This way it gets released when the terran campaign is finished and multiplayer is polished, instead of waiting another year for zerg and toss campaigns or rushed campaigns.
Personally I'll be buying the first pack, fuck the expansions I just want B-Net play anyways!
enhanced hi res 2d graphics and new units/expansion should've been enough for starcraft. i think broodwar has a very cult-like following that has created purists who would hate any drastic changes. srsly, its like announcing: "hey chess addicts, the inventors of chess changed the look of the pieces and reworked all its functions, please go out in droves and buy it!"
imo that's why diablo 3's release is so much better for sc/blizzard fans

i think the company are focusin more on earnings than to please their hardcore followers.
thats why they focus so much on storyline/single player
and obv 3d graphics since its standard these days
i have faith that they'll make a good game.. its blizzard every single one of their games are like the best
stalkers with micro look rigged indeed... but the blizz guy mentioned a couple of times that the game aws in alpha stage... what does that mean if anything. plz dont say it comes before beta im aware of that ty

Stalkers die really easily as you can see from that video, and that Zerg player really sucked. And alpha comes before beta =].
SC2 beta is scheduled to start after Nov.13 according to the beta sign-up page on WoW' website thingy.
