Neteller screwed me boo hoo

So this morning i get a call from my bank (Commonwealth for the Aussies) and they tell me that the neteller cheque for (US)2048 that i handed in for processing 6 weeks ago has been DISHONOURED.
The full consequences of which are explained to me:

I obviously dont get the money.
I have to go in and pay them a DISHONOUR FEE of AUD 254.39
The cheque will take weeks upon months for neteller to refund me because they're useless bastards.

Okay so by now i'm walking around in my room pissed off as hell and calling neteller and abusing the customer service representatvie. Needless to say she has no idea, i have to email them because she's a spastic with downsyndrome.
After abusing her for 30 minutes i finally get "oh it might be because we've closed the US account". This i reward her with a few more minutes of verbal assault before i decide to email them.
Three emails later, one of which was less than polite and the other 2 were quite eloquent for the raging state i was in.

So i then go into the bank, since i have to pay them the damn fees.
I talk to the Manager and he shows me this letter saying that basically, the bill for collection for USD 2048 drawn on NATIONAL BANK OF CANADA is being returned unpaid with answer: ACCOUNT CLOSED
The Commonwealth Bank dishonour fee of AUD 35.00 applies to this item.
Additionally a fee of CAD 196.62 has been charged by our corresponding bank (FX) rate 0.8962.
So result, i owe bank $254.39.
The dishonoured item will be returned if/when it is recieved from our corresondent bank.

All this basically meant that i was getting charged 254 dollars which is more than 10 percent of what the cheque is even worth, not getting my money until whenever the hell they send it back and i'm pissed off as hell. Oh and i had to pay an initial 45 dollar fee to get the cheque processed which isn't refunded...so about 300 dollars for a bounced cheque....

Just wanted to get advice from the LP community as well as rant, i apologise if this bored anyone but i feel robbed and want to know what i can do?

Man this is so fucking goddamn fucked up.

Fuck neteller, I just tried to cash out a cheque for $1800 today from them. After reading this, I'm canceling that ASAP.

Dont get cheques from neteller!!!!! Direct deposit into account is fastest and safest way! i learnt that from experience.

bank transfers are pretty cheap, its like $2 to withdraw directly to your bank in 3-4 days...=o

not sure how the economy in australia is but you could easily get a 15 hour a week job here and earn 2k in 3 months. it may not be what you had planned but, as a university student with a ton of extra shit otherwise, you can definitely fit that into your schedule if you absolutely need to, and you may find you enjoy it because it'll give you a stable source of income instead of having to rely on poker.

i really really hope all tl.net members learn their lesson and avoid neteller like the plague. they just had 54 million dollars confiscated and lost the majority of their customers as well. now they're bouncing checks to what few customers they have left. the company is dying, i doubt they'll make it to august.

the 400 i cashed from an atm, the only atm that works for it in Melbourne is BankWest and no money came out of the atm although the funds were deducted.
So they're running a funds trace and have been for 3 months.

So I emailed them back that EUR would do, they replied ok and the money came in 3 days after that.

I'm guessing Neteller has all their accounts frozen due to the US trying to shut them down. Now they are just going to waste taxpayers money keeping them in court until they just decide to give up.

Since we have a neteller thread going, anyone know if my latest deposit to stars (I think 500 or so) will be automatically reversed back to neteller still when I cash out? It was everything I had online except for the $100 that I kept in FTP. I got that up to $400 at least (haven't been playing at all since it happened). Even though I still have several grand to my name it is pretty deflating when someone steals that much money from you.

i couldn't cash from the poker site because i deposited using neteller and it the only option i had was to use neteller.
TedHastings, they dont work like that in Australia, i'm under the impression at the moment that it is in fact the Canadian Bank that works like this as my bank only charged me when they were charged the fee for the dishonoured check from the overseas bank.
I'm not sure about being able to withdraw from stars via another methods after depositing with neteller but maybe you can send an email and ask them what you need to provide in order for them to send cheques or to use another method of withdrawel.

After a nights sleep, i'm less likely to murder the next person who says neteller but still extremely pissed off.

Gawdawful, if you deposit any money to Pokerstars using Neteller, you MUST match that amount BACK to Neteller when you choose to cash out BEFORE you can start choosing alternate options.

I had $1800 on stars which was deposited via Neteller, and even after emailing stars begging that they give me an alternate option to cashout without using Neteller, they said "no, this is part of our security messures" blah blah blah.

So 3 days ago, I cashed it all out to Neteller (I had no choice), and then requested them to send me a cheque...then kantoiki made this thread, and I cancelled that shit ASAP. Now I'm siphoning all my cash out of Neteller to multiple poker sites as fast as I can...I suggest every one else does the same.

I'm probably going to change my base currency from USD to CDN asap as well to hopefully avoid any forms of this problem. I usually use from Neteller to my bank account, has Canadians or non-US people had any problems with this? Does Neteller have some of the assets in Canadian banks and is that why the cheque was dishonoured?

I always cashed with the card in my local currency and never had problems. One time I tried to probe in USD and I lost 3 or 4usd for "declined transaction" -_-

The Australian banks use other international banks to do their currency exchanges as well as to cash cheques which are from oversea banks from oversea currencies. I've always thought this is standard.

As for moving to Canada, yeah thats going to a feasible solution for people to just pick up and move lol

full tilt i emailed them, they said i have to provide some more identification and then i can require a check every 24 hours minimum 300 dollars.

bonus is that amounts above 2.5k or something are delivered overnight without being charged the 25 dollar fee.
Not sure what delivered overnight would mean for us in Australia but maybe a few days then.

Anyone ideas with cashing out? Maybe transfering money to party isnt' a bad idea since they've proven they can survive this onslaught from the US govt.

im sorry to hear. but just a piece of advice, keep emailing netteller and keep a log with date stamp and everything.
the second thing to do is to email pokerstars and detail them exactly what happend, and also tell them they are responsible for your losses because netteller is one of their cash out methods and they should be responsible for that.

i mean ps forced you to use that method and its also one of their biggest business partners, i think getting ps to chase it up might be good.

LP could run a system where people transfer the money they want to cash out to an account owned by LP on whichever site they play, then LP posts a cheque minus commission. Even just a rich trustworthy player here could do that.

theres no real need for that.

Wire transfer is all you need. 19$ comission and thats that for me at least. Depends on the bank. 1k cash out = 981$.

what cash out options have other people used in australia? my cheques from commision junction used to take up to a month to arrive

I emailed stars last night about certain options for cashing out for Australian people.

For a wire transfer they say the minimum is $50k. For cheques: "Any cheques over $1,000.00 will be sent via courier at no extra cost.
Cheques under $1,000.00 are sent via regular mail, but can be sent via courier at a cost of $25.00 if a player emails us and requests it."
The cheques can be drawn in Australian dollars and they process them 4 days a week Mon-Thurs.

Plus the usual ePassporte and Neteller options. I wanted to go directly from PS so was not really interested in those options although I have Neteller.

I think I'll be trying out a cheque that will be sent courier automatically. Any aussies have any experience with how long it takes for us?

checks over 1000 take like 2-3 days, not over 1000 i think its like a week. Also you can get AUD checks from poekrstars which shortened the processing time at the bank so email stars and they'll do it for you
