So I just sold a used 2020 corolla for a profit to CARMAX. I bought it brand new for 20k out the door at the start of the pandemic. There's a cool aftermarket addon that converts the car into autopilot using all the drivers assist features. Sold it for 25k because I live 1.5 miles from the office and realized I dont need a car with autopilot since I dont make cross country trips anymore.

I'm thinking of changing to a rav4 hybrid cause I need to carry a bunch of random shit and I need the space lol.

The new plug in hybrid rav4 prime seems pretty cool. I actually got the idea for my current car Acura ILX 2.4 manual from this youtuber redline reviews and he recently switched to it.

Looked up prices in Mexico, alot more affordable than I thought. I always imagined even driving an STI you'd become a target for robberies and shit in alot of LA countries.

They are more expensive than in the US since they don't devaluate as fast, what kind of robbery do you mean? Its a niche car its wheels and mirrors aren't as good to steal as most random SUVs, if you mean to personally target for robbery well people who can afford an STI don't live in ghettos most of the time so its not an issue.

You do become a target for kidnapping when you have stuff like a Ferrari or a Lambo tho, the majority of ppl who have those have also have an SUV behind full of body guards.

Idk my logic was:
STI isn't a common car in Mexico probably.
Its somewhat flashy
Its worth more than most people's net worth there even used

I'm not sure what kind of robbery. Mostly just petty theft not kidnapping...Maybe ppl follow you and wait for you to come back into your car and force you to give them your watch and wallet or force you to go to your atm or something.

Here's how the theft market in Europe goes:

1. Cars that are giga expensive (obviously)
2. Cars that are mass-driven - easy to disassemble and sell in parts as the market is big

Cars that are not that expensive but flashy are usually not worth the risk since there is no market for them at all, so unless someone's being a dumbass and goes for a joyride nobody'd touch it.

Don't see a reason why it would be different in Mexico

Not having a car is a good start.

I sold my car 5 years ago and for the most part love public transit. I like to chill and read a book, think, listen to music. Or just look at the people around me. Been cycling to work every day and it has added to my cardio. Technically I don't own a car right now but I share two; whenever I need one I have one. I've saved a lot of money over the years. I'm not a car guy at all but my brother just got a new Toyota Camry and it's really nice to drive. I'm not sure what I'd buy if I needed one.

If you get the rav4 check out a company called comma.ai. Thats the autopilot mod. It takes over the radar cruise control and lane-keep-assist tech to drive the car by itself, it's amazing. Tons of youtube videos demonstrating it, probably even in your car. The mod is literally nothing more than a plug n' play dashcam that hooks into the cars computer port to intercept all the sensor data and tell the steering wheel/gas pedal how to move. I havent even sold mine yet, if you get it let me know and I'll give you a good deal.

Yea I haven't looked at it much but probably not for me.

I don't do alot of highway driving and even when I do I never use cruise control. I don't think I'd be comfortable using that city driving in NJ.. Id be open to something like this if it were fully level 5 autonomous but otherwise not really interested.

Also what you doing now that you sold your corolla?
