I wish one of your guys had children if I could kick them in the fucking head or stomp on their testicles so you can feel my pain because thats the pain I have waking up everyday -- Mike Tyson
It was pretty much what I expected. Its easily better than episodes 1-2 but doesn't compare to episodes 4-6 in terms of feeling. It involves too many young 20 somethings goofing around and whining and generally plays off nostalgia too much. There's just not a lot of new that it brings to the table and much of the plot just seems rehashed or even ripped off from episode IV.
Don't get me wrong, its a not a terrible film by any means, I was entertained and will watch all the rest that will come out, but "not being terrible" is all it really aspired to do and that's not setting the bar very high at all.

I have a question.
why did Yoda and Obi-wan tell Luke he had to face Vader (two times) to become a Jedi when Palpatine said he had to kill Vader to become Palpatine's apprentice?

Luke had to "face" Vader, as in face his fears and reject them. Palpatine wanted Luke to "strike down" Vader by letting his fear consume him and channeling that fear via aggression.

It was a really great Action Movie 8/10 despite for some reasons not feeling like a real Star Wars
Never got me this "Star Wars Feeling" of the really first Star Wars or Empire Strikes back
The Film itself was entertaining , fully packed with action and humor.
Story is basically non existend
Music Soundtrack is below what i expected
Some stuff was rally unnecessarily bad
Overall:
+ Fast pace , lots of action , lots of stuff exploding some tryhard nostalgia jokes

I have a question
after Obi-wan died, Luke was just walking around with force powers and a lightsaber with no training for 3 years until Obi-wan visited him as a hallucination when he was on the verge of freezing to death to tell him to find Yoda and get training?

Those kind of posts make me not want to go see it. I was expecting the movie to be a money milker from the start. I m not really impressed by the whole series, probably because i'm a bit younger than most fans. If its really remake- like i ll feel disgusted.
Overall I've had mixed feelings about JJ Abrams's work considering both Fringe and Lost were really good and then turned into money milking shit. Star Trek was good, but i had not seen any star trek movies prior to his so

I think they took the safe route by re-enacting a lot of classic themes & scenes just to make sure the movie wouldnt bomb. Hopefully the next one will have a chance to be truly unique now that it is proven somebody else can direct star wars.

George Lucas only directed A New Hope and the prequel trilogy so if anything he's the one who would need to prove he can direct SW

Feminists have seemingly conquered Starwars and failed miserably. Not a fan of the female lead at all. Throw Milla Jovovich in there and she can probably pull it off but this girl's accent and look didn't do the movie any favours imo. She just isn't tough enough. The movie needed more Jedi and lightsabers!!! That's primarily what everyone's loins rattle for, whether they know it or not. The old Jedi characters could have had a more active role rather than a side adventure to seek them out. From the start I'd like to have seen Luke picking up a new apprentice, covering some other Jedi he's trained or train the female lead directly and spur the story on from there. Seemed that they tried to do WAY too much as well. I mean, wtf was that super weapon? Did anyone really care about the people that got wiped out? Entertainment 101, make people care about the people that die then kill them. I didn't care one bit about who died there, is that my fault?
The reference to the old death star were so bad I was face palming. Come up with something new ffs, yeah it's on a new world but it's weak and the sun-draining thing sucked.. they aren't solar panels, they're EVIL, they'll use some environmentally destructive power source, yes they're draining a sun but then what? sun dies and they're left immobile on a planet? Maybe I misunderstood but in any case, solar power just ain't evil enough brah. Didn't like the defecting stormtrooper idea, I think they should have kept them as unrelentingly disciplined and loyal fighters, it just left them looking weak. HATED Kylo Ren's lightsaber, his voice, his weakness, pretty much everything about him was weak.. Sure, you can make an argument for why it's logical for a bad guy to do that and they've done similar before with multiple lightsabers or extended staff-like lightsabers but those were somehow way more tasteful and respectful towards the weapon itself. Arguably they got away with it and most people won't care but I think rebooting with a standard (non-flamelike with no crossguard) lightsaber in some form (staff, other) would have been perfection. Also, rebel action, totally overplayed imo. I'd have liked to have seen new ship models too. Disjointed having that rebel fighter pilot disappear then randomly show up again. Just too many ridic elements coming together at once and it just felt like a way to cash in on the series. On positive points, I loved the little robot's attitude but it could have been any bot really. There's now likely going to be the problem of sharing screen time for that robot as a recurring character. I almost feel like they designed him that way just so they could sell more of those ball toys.
