I've got really high hopes for this

perfect role for Colin Farrell, the lead female role (don't know her name) looks like she's going to be really good and I'm actually somewhat cautiously optimistic for Vince Vaughn's role

Honestly Mcconaughey was absolutely crushing before he went into that role. Killer Joe, Dallas Buyers Club, Wolf of Wall Street. At some point he turned a corner in his career and became one of the best actors in the business.

Not a fan of having a comedy guy trying to play a serious role, but I like Vince so I'll try to go in with an open mind.

One of the chief (and valid) criticisms of season one was that its female characters were at best underdeveloped and at worst treated as mere objects. Pizzolatto appears to be addressing that head-on in the form of McAdams' character, a flinty Ventura County detective who packs multiple knives and is eager to prove how tough she is. As Vaughn's wife, Kelly Reilly is also much more of a presence than any woman on the show last year.

He was doing bumps of chowder at the bar, then when he got the call he obviously hit some solid lines to wake the fuck up. Agreed his eyes n shit we're a little too clear but hard to fully portray that state when dead sober acting.

Season 1 was phenomenal. Fk the critics. They say valid as if women are being oppressed in some way or like the audience can't distinguish entertainment from reality, lol. Totally brutal acts can happen, be good TV and it doesn't hurt women or men by encouraging similar behaviour because it's fictional. What a load of BS.

First ep was really good. Funnily enough, felt that the "tough" female lead sucked. She served what seemed to be a baseless warrant based on a vague rumor showing her volatile, self-serving and emotional nature. She pleaded with her father to deal with one of his daughters, fragile, emotional again and daddy issues. Locked up in a casino laden with booze cursing at the staff... boy she can really stand on her own two feet. She carrys a Kerambit in her boot, wow.. so tough. No doubt they will all turn out to be great characters but I just wish people left the oppression/equality cards for times when they're actually warranted.

all of the characters had some light shined on their sexuality, colin is asexual, vince vaughn is into matrimony, bike cop is impotent, and McAdams is into scary stuff i wish

Season 2 has nothing to do with Season 1 though r0mx0 be aware of that

Gotta say they did a fine job with the first ep. I don't expect anyone to even come remotely close to Matthew Mccaunaghey s role last season ever, but that being said I think they made the series somewhat more realistic, probably a cognitive bias for me cause of the more urban place of action

I thought the first episode of Season 2 was weak as shit. Don't find myself caring about any of the characters, all seems recycled (that whole thing where he beats the bully's dad's ass is so cheesy and stupid), not a terrible show though and there's certainly room for it to all turn around but I had fairly low expectations and was still thoroughly unimpressed.

All in all, the actual plot is gonna need to be something special as it unfolds in order to turn it around because none of the actors are fantastic like last season and the directing is a full tier worse than last season (they lost the awesome Asian guy who directed the first season).

we went from complicated, twisted and dark plot to a joke. Rachel hiding knifes Commando style, cop on edge kicking some guy cause someone is laughing at his fat son. I guess we should be shocked when he called his son fat pussy in front of the school, probably the most shocking moment of ep 1. Vince Vaughn ... cmon, suits this role same way as fkin Owen Wilson would... . And the guy eating viagra to get a blowjob with post war syndrome, "we served the country" haha not sure what was the intention, looks like fkin director wanted to throw every known modern stereotype into this ep. And finally last but not least - commercial of Pornhub during raid on this house full of porn webcams, LOL i guess they paid shit loads of money for that :D I will not mention stupid ass fkin names of both daughters cause I like this greek shit a lot.
