title says it all. Since the turn of the new year, I've played 10/20 almost exclusively. So far it's paid off. I ran quite hot at the beginning of the year, and got into some very good spots against big whales. This boost in bankroll provided a boost in confidence that translated well to my poker game. Not confidence like bluff every hand like a hero, but allowing myself to play my "A" game sitting deepstacked against all opponents.

My average hours played has suffered a bit, but that's due in part to us pulling our daughter out of school and me spending more time with her and the baby at home. She was picking up some bad habits, and it just wasn't worth the cost because I had to stay home with the baby either way, so driving her up to school and coming back home is a waste of time and money. And I still take her to the park and other events for socialization and learning so I'm happy with the exchange.

In other exciting news, my wife will be taking next year off of work to stay home with the girls. She'll be doing the preschooling for our oldest. We are also going to make a big decision with regard to schooling of our oldest after this year. I am heavily leaning toward "unschooling." If you haven't heard of it, it's the act of raising your kids without public education, and simply teaching them whatever they want to learn about at any time. It's a legal form of homeschooling in the United States, and has shown some promising results in kids that are going through it or have gone through it. lol your kids look so much like you. I applaud the unschooling technique. Anyone who was ever good at anything only did so because they were interested in it. Finding your kid's passions and then letting that evolve into a career makes sense to me. Although I would still want to teach them the basics of history and what not, just so they have an understanding of how the world got to where it is today, and what to expect from others.

the "unschooling" method seems really insane but intriguing honestly

very interested in hearing how exactly you'll be going about using this method with your children (if you're ok with posting about it here!)

That's a bad idea bro let your kids go to school the social aspect is more important than the education

well it's not hard to find social outlets like team sports outside of the cesspool that is the US public education.

interesting that despite a huge increase in income your savings rate is lower than usual

what did you buy yourself?

I think you're misreading the picture. This is poker results only no living expenses. So in all winning sessions combined I've won 200k and in all losing sessions combined I've lost 100k for a net gain of 100k. I'll be doing an expense report for Q1 soon I think if I can muster the energy. Spoiler alert: savings rate is around 75% so far this year (and much higher if you don't include debt payments)

I'm not sure if you'll be able to properly teach them education, but the schools can't be that bad for kids, do they ? I don't mean this highschool > college crap, but before that. And like someone else pointed out, there will be way less social activities and that's not good at all tbh. Just think about it : what if your girl went out on a park, and socializing with the others kids, and they ask which school she comes from. She'll first be surprised because most of the kids will be in school and she'll think she's the exception, asking herself questions and whatnot.
I can perfectly relate this experience because I'm deaf and chose to go to a normal's school instead of the deaf one.

At least, try to ask a LOTS of questions before going for homeschooling. You really need a clear plan for what you'll be teaching and that's not an easy task.

Nice to read thst you are doing great. Your kids are adorable lol and the baby is like a mini version of you!

I suppose taking your kids out of school demands a lot of commitment from both parents. I still like the social aspect of school and personally i wouldnt have the patience to do so :x

I'm sure he's done research, saw some tedtalk about homeschooling, and it looked pretty amazing, i also think once a week, they went out in the wilderness, with other kids, and just did stuff out in the wild, and had a blast.

Looked pretty awesome to me.

First 6 years of school I had to go through as a kid, was pretty shit, most courses, useless, think 5-6 hours of christianity, wtf? how much of a waste is that, it's doing x10 more damage than good lol.

5 hours a week of uhm, you sew small little shit things, and stuff like that, 90% of kids wont ever want to do that lol. I'm sure there was a few other useless, sick amount of time a year, wasted.

Keep pwning, awesome to read ur blog

if I think of my time in the Finnish educational system (which supposedly is of ok level), excluding the university, I pretty much just learned to be lazy and disinterested in learning. So that unschooling thing sounds like a really good idea.
