damn - i can't disagree with you guys right?

it might be a feel thing - but the way he called my bets so quickly made me think he was slow playing a hand that can beat a single pair of Aces.

I don't like to put money in when i think i am behind... but i'm sure u guys are prolly right. When it came to river - i was ready and fully expecting him to make a reasonable bet - which he did.. i felt iffy on the flop when he called so quickly.. then the board just got plain ugly on the turn and he called just as fast...

u need to raise pre flop to like 1 or 1.25
pot flop strongly, draw heavy board
turn either u bet or u dont bet, dont pussy bet. Nothing wrong with checking if u are very confident ur beat.
River i wouldnt fold to a pussy bet but you got the reads.

ok thanks floofy - i agree 100%.. i get it right next time! just i get AA about once every 1K hands and i hate to bet 1.25 pf and see everyone fold lol but i guess then i can't lose right... ahaha thanks for your help guys

Floofy   Canada. Aug 01 2006 08:11. Posts 8708

you got it 1 of 250. If your table fold a lot to pre flop raises, then raise more often with marginal hands. But letting them draw cheaply is not the answer.

if everyone folds when you raise AA then you probably dont raise enough or have a bad tables selection

you said he was calling quickly. but quick calls can also mean they're drawing... or maybe a queen in your example. in your hand you gave the guy super uber great odds to outdraw you. you gotta bet more on the turn to know if your aces are good. if he still calls then you should probably check/call or check/fold the river

also, with a weak bet like this you showed him your scared.. many players would try to steal the pot after such a weak bet. imo you can be pretty sure he doesnt have a 9 here.

I sometimes fold AA preflop to balance my range

you can't be sure he doesn't have the 9 on these stakes because people could play 99 89 T9 just like that
and QJ QT are both very possible too

so is KQ and tons of other hands tho

then you only need to win the hand like 25% of the time to justify calling the river
