lol at that bet on the end.

just check behind if youre going to bet that much. 5 bb at this level wont give you enough more chips in upcoming levels to justify the risk of him check raising on the end. |

yeah i'd just check the river

because usually, when they have you beat they'll raise, and when they don't, they'll fold. |

bigballs i think 4k in chips is plenty worth the risk of the checkraise, which would only be another 10k. i SERIOUSLY doubted he would check to me if he hit the straight. I put him on an 8, and i thought hed call 4k with an 8, and not a push. |

ya. if i was in this situation again, id push. if he thinks im bluffing, he thinks im bluffing, and hes calling with his A6 or A8 or whatever pair hes got

but im pushing instead of 4k for value, and DEFINITELY not because im scared of a checkraise or anything. thats just ridiculous to be scared of a c/r here.

wish i could think these through well enough in the time given... these little mistakes are gonna cost me |

4k is such a horrible bet. it's damaging to your image, incurs extra risk, and is not worth it. the blinds will surely rise soon after this, so you are risking your tournament life for an extra 2.5 big blinds in 5 minutes? Not worth it at all. |

he's not 'risking' his tournament. he is saying he's 100% confident in his read that he's ahead and he wants to bet the amount that he thinks will be called. |

the value for a set of 7's at that point should be the remainder of his or his opponent's stack... not that pussy ass 4k bet. have some balls and push. |

yep shoulda pushed. but seriously, bigballs, you are 100% correct that 4k was a shitty bet. but you have the worst possible reasoning behind thinking that. it incurs ZERO extra risk, it IS worth it, etc etc. the main reason my play was wrong, is that its more profitable to push since he will call that almost as often as the 4k bet. also, good point about it hurting my image. but the rest of your reasoning...

just wondering... from all your posts ive read, you seem to analyze every poker hand as if it was played in a cash game. Do you play many tournaments, or are you like 95-100% cash game player? in a cash game, your advice is surely the best way to play it, either pushing or folding, even if i didnt believe he would call the push, and i did believe he would call 4k, simply for the image factor to get paid in other hands |
