Not going well so far. Lots of tilt and horrible sessions, if things don't improve next week I am quitting and getting a job.

and the entire year, was in school for the first 5 months

The running below ev has led to horrible tilt which just leads to really bad spews, this also isn't even mentioning the insane amount of coolers that I have had going on. Oh well.

I've talked to u before about tilt, you really need to get that under control before you can call yourself a true professional imo. But you'll get it back, the question is just how long will it take you, and a lot of that is under your control as well. I'm gonna be out of the country for a week but after I come back we can do sweat sessions etc. if u want

hmm so if you ran at perfect EV you'd be just barley over break-even...
Tilt is a horrible thing, I remember way back in the day (many years ago) when I would lose a week's worth of profit because of a really bad session or two, I made it a #1 priority to get that under control and never let myself tilt, you gotta fix that or you'll never be much of a winner, there's really no logical reason to not always play minimum your A- game

Think I'll take tomorrow off and start new on Saturday with a 2.5bi stop loss on my sessions

stop loss is not the cure (although it's not a bad idea).. you have to change your psychology towards losing hands, otherwise you are almost garunteed to repeat your mistakes. Whenever you lose 3-4 hands in a row how do you feel, remember those feelings - ask yourself why do I feel like this, what does this mean, what can I do to change or improve my mood.

I ask myself tons of questions during sessions about myself and my opponents (stuff like what are they thinking, what do they think of be based of what they have seen so far, what can I do to best exploit them based of recent observations etc...), I find the better quality of questions I ask the better answers I come up with

making a change stop loss starting tomorrow @ 2.5bi isn't gonna change your long term results all of a sudden, that's amost like looking for an excuse to continue playing without actaully improving anything

Thx for the advice TT feel like usually after coolers and suckouts my usual thought that starts is "here we go again" then I just kinda sink into a robotic semi upset mode of poker which loses me tons. Didn't use to feel like that but ever since my horrible ds in febuary I havnt been able to shake it. Lots come from the fact that I have been gettin coolered so often or sucked out on that instead of being happy when I get it in good my thought is "how am I gonna lose this one" also I never ever expect to win pre when if I go all in which is discouraging...plus my tilt leads to me doing a bunch of call flop and turn then fold river or call down thinking "there's no way I'm beat again" when I am so I lose more. I'll spend the next few days working on my mental mindset or at least tryin to get it to change. Hopefully will get it back tithe mindset I had in November before to long.

A few days off to do fun things non-poker related are always the best cure for a run-bad.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.Last edit: 16/07/2010 02:26

Also dont be so hard on yourself. Saying shit like if Y doesnt happen im gonna do X. Just sets you up for failure.

personally one of the psychological things that gets me messed up is feeling like i'm entitled to win a big pot when i get AA KK etc preflop, and it tilts me when i dont get "what i deserve"

well that's a simplified version of my mindset but it gets the point across

poker and stuff
