Hello!

Last blog I talked about starting PLO and so far it's been going really well in terms of results. I've quickly moved up from $0.10/$0.25 to $1/$2 so far, winning at a nice winrate, although I've been running super hot at $1/$2 obviously. The game is really complex though and I'm still not very confident in my play despite the results thus far. One reason that I know my game is still very weak is because MiPwnYa keeps owning me and instantly sits in to play me HU whenever I join a new table and he's online, I feel like he may have added me to some buddy list as I've already spewed like $1k to him which is like 5 buyins at $0.50/$1 and 2.5 at $1/$2 despite winning a $1k pot at $1/$2 vs him. ! I'm getting better though and am sure I will continue to do so, hopefully I'm already good enough to beat $1/$2 and can continue learning and building my bankroll back up from there.

Here are stats so far:

Sidenote: One thing I love about PLO is how many VPPs you make, I'm not even close to Supernova and we're halfway through the year but it's definitely possible for me to get there if I'm playing $1/$2 PLO or above, even if I don't play that many hands a month.

On another note, I'm leaving Korea on August 17th. I'm going to be staying in New Jersey for a month, during my stay I'll be hanging out with the gf and her friends, many of whom I've already met when they visited Korea. I'm also going to be taking a trip out to Toronto to meet some nerds that we both know from World of Warcraft. Naturally I'm looking forward to sampling many "bad" (good) American foods, I', expect to put on a lot of weight and potentially have a heart attack, so let's hope I run good and don't die. Just before I leave, on September 8th, I'm gonna celebrate my birthday, so far I don't have any plans on what I'm going to be on that day, but I'm not planning on getting too hungover as I'm going to see Katatonia and Swallow the Sun in New York the following day. A few days after that I'm going to be returning to England "for good", where I'll go back to live with my family. I'm looking to buy a house with my parents and go 50/50 on it, so they've been looking around at houses and they like this one:

Whether we move into this house or some other house I'm planning on making the garage a home gym so I can work out without the need to go to a gym because I'm simply to lazy to travel there each day, particularly since the gym is like 4 miles away and I don't drive. I've tried to get into working out several times in the past but it never really stuck, I've gained a decent bit of weight during my stay in Korea and will obviously gain even more during my stay in the States so I'm remotivated and I feel like with a home gym I'll be way more likely to stick to some kind of schedule since it's no effort at all to just go into the garage and work out. On that note, if anyone has any recommendations as to what I should get, and potentially where I should get it from, I'd appreciate it!

That's all for now, thanks for reading.

in my experience home gym almost never work, just because there's no real motivation and it gets really really boring doing exercise on your own, i guess it could work if you have a home gym and train everyday with 1 or 2 friends, but if they gg you would too probably

btw you buying 50/50 a house with your parents... so i guess that means you expect to live with them for 10+ more years? otherwise it's a pretty fucked up deal for you if you decide you wanna move out sooner, no, they won't give you your money back, at least not instantly and you may be regretting not having that money for your own place?

other than that really good work with PLO, tried it myself and tables seem super juicy, fun game but i don't like the part where you can lose soo many flips in a row

gl Jamie.

Get a driving license, buy a car and go to gym by car. Home gym won't work, you will be even more lazy than going to gym.

lol youre not even close to being buddy listed, the field is so soft that youre reaaaaally not the type of opponent I would consider chasing. Me playing you heads up was just an attempt to run more tables

If it was me by myself I could easily see myself getting complacent and not working out just because it's so convenient and I could end up telling myself "Can't be bothered right now, I can easily go do it later" or whatever. However, my brother is interested in working out too so as long as we're both interested in working out I think we can motivate each other and it'll get far more use than a commercial gym would by us.

A year or 2 ago I was thinking about getting a place with some friends of mine and my parents told me it's a bad idea because of the issues that would arise when one of us wants to move on, I've thought that through and I see what they're saying and I see what you're saying for sure, but it's a good long term investment, I do plan on staying at home for at least a couple of years, probably until I find someone I wanna settle down with so that could be a while. By that time I'm pretty sure I will have rebuilt enough money to move on even without getting my money back from this place and even if I don't, I'll still be able to pay something towards a new place considering there will be someone else contributing to the costs also.

Haha, all the same I feel like I've played worse vs you than anyone else, so many fuckups in 3bet pots I guess. I may be wrong, but I feel like when I first started playing PLO and it became HU between me and you you left the table a couple of times, but right now you wouldn't dream of leaving the tables It's ok though, obviously you have a ton more experience in PLO than I do, and I don't mind playing some games where I'm -EV just to improve at the game

I have a weight room in my house and a boxing setup in my shed outside. It's very nice to not have to waste time traveling to and from the gym. Don't have to worry about if it's hot/cold/raining, what to wear etc. Very convenient if you have the motivation. The easiest and cheapest setup imo is just a skipping rope and running shoes to go for a jog for weight loss/cardio.

You'll get lazy. Just believe me, especially if you'll live in the us.
If you're too lazy to go to gym then it'll get even worse if you do it on your own house.

The thing about the gym is that once you actually forced yourself to get there you will work out, when its at your house... not so much. I mean you can do push ups and sit ups at home without anything, but you dont.

Nice blog post Jamie hoping things work out. I failed at being organised/motivated enough to come out to korea to visit u, let's meet up asap when you're back in England. Obv as always I have some unsolicited advice for u that i'll now try to ram down your throat:

- book up tons of driving lessons the minute ur back in england and get learning, fast. owning and driving a car anywhere in uk outside central london or manchester is +++life ev, shouldnt take more than 2-3 months to get it done if you're proactive. theory test is a piece of piss get that booked for the earliest date u can when u only just start taking lessons, get it out the way asap it requires 1 day of study

- gtfo off stars this minute, the games are worse than eurosites and youre losing out a TON not getting proper rakeback (supernova+ is good rb but anything below and ur getting stiffed, it's expensive just getting to supernova in terms of lost rb along the way and it's a pain to maintain it). rakeback is very significant at 1/2

Most people I know who have a home gym setup work out considerably less than people who can go to a gym. First of all you can never own all the new quality stuff that gyms will provide. Second of all it takes up a lot of space. Third if you travel to the gym once you get their you'll work out seriously. If you're sitting at home it's so much easier to quit "10 mins early today" or "30" or whatever. Either way you'll probably work out considerably less often if you have a home gym. It'll sit there and collect dust.

+1

On another note - Can i make blogs and be a featured blog poster? I have life stories to tell and poker results to display too. What exactly qualifies someone to be a featured blog poster? I have plenty of random stories and poker to tell the world about too.

(seriously - i dont actually care :d )
