Hi all

I am looking for my first own snowboard.

Last year i got the 03/2004 Nitro Storm lend by my cousin
Ofc this board was very old and had traces of use all over it.

Now i am searching for a nice but not too expensive snowboard + bindings
somehwere in the range of 250-450€
Main mission is to finde a board that is nice to handle , decent in cruising down the mountain and able to do some easy/simple tricks every now and then.

There are dozens of boards+binding in this range but hardly any review on the quality of them.
Most stuff i read in internet forums is like either :
everything lower than 500€ is bullshit quality

or

The 500€ boards are bullshit and not really notable better than the 300€ boards

Well I've been snowboarding since I was 9, and I'm 20 now. 2 years ago I bought my own board, the burton vapor and I'm telling you there's nothing you can compare it to.
Its just such a damn good board, but it's for experienced boarders actually*brag*.
It cost about 700€ but its sure worth it, trust me on this one.

Sounds like you're looking for a nice all mountain/freestyle board with decent/lots of flex (makes it easier to maneuver and control, better for beginners and for tricks).

Are conditions there often icy or are you looking to just go riding in powder?
Have you gone to a shop yet, or have you just been looking online? I suggest you go look around at a shop and talk to some of the salespeople there and tell them what you want/need out of the board.
I don't know how the pricing is in Europe but if it's anything like the Canadian/US pricing, you can get a very good beginner/intermediate setup for 450 Euros.

Just go to some of the good companies' websites such as K2, Burton, Rome, Atomic, GNU, Libtech, Ride, Never Summer etc and look at some of their base boards and try find reviews on those.

Also you can ask for opinions here if you don't find reviews: http://www.snowboardingforum.com/equipment-reviews/

And ya just find something you like, if you follow these steps I don't think you can really go wrong in choosing your first board I think choosing your 2nd, 3rd, etc boards are far more important in nit picking since you'll have a better idea of what you want out of a board. Also make sure you get the right size. Contrary to popular belief, the height of your board should be based much more so on your weight rather than just your height.

gl and post back here and I'll try to help you more if you need it.

board is not half as important as shoes. Try many shoes before you settle. I dont think you can go wrong with your first board. Just smthin cheep, right hight, and freestyle shape(not one sided) and you are good to go.

Dont chase the paper, chase the dream!

Agreed. Good boots are def. the most important. Everyone has different feet so the best boot for one person might be a shitty boot for someone else. Take your time trying on lots and go with the most comfortable for you.

Definitely. Boots are really important aswell. One time my boots were too long and wasn't curving up on the front so every time i was turning right (i'm regular not goofy) my feet would slide the ice at the same time which was kinda annoying.
Always try to get a soft snowboard that's good @ freestyle cauz it's always with those you're going to have a lot of fun. Nothing wrong with others board but depend if you're sliding on powder or ice. If mix then go more for the freestyle because park are everywhere now ~ Unless you have your own.
With your budget i'm pretty sure you'll find plenty of good ones.

Shin-il : Yeah it was very very very good for me too. Rekrul : YOU MOTHER FUCKING FUCKING SON OF A BITCH
