Work Killin Poker Time |

Damn work is killing my poker time.
Last week my car dies and I get stuck at my dads place for a bit. Get back to work on friday. Saturday we have a conference which has me up 6am and not home from work till 11pm.
Sunday off.
Monday work all day prepping for a trip.
Tuesday @ 6am wakeup and off to the airport. Sleep on the plane. Fly to DC. film an event. get to bed by midnight.
Wednesday up @ 5am eastern (3am my time zone, mountain) and drive to the airport to fly back to Colorado. Sleep on the plane. Get home and spend time with the GF, then go to the office and work for a bit. Go out to movie with GF (30 days of night wasn't that scary, too bad). Go home, play a bit of poker, sleep.
Thursday @ 6am mountain I get up and head to the airport. Sleep on the plane, again. Land in st louis and shuttle for 1.5 hours to kingdom city. Sleep in that damn shuttle too. Spend 1 hour "settling in" then rent a car and drive 3 hours to kansas city to pick up someone flying in. Spend the night in a hotel, sleeping at midnight.
Friday @ 10am (THANK GOD) wakeup, eat, drive 3 hours back to kingdom city, run around all day doing meetings and a public talk, get home 10pm. Browse net for a bit and then post this long complaint.

Despite all that, here's my first 8 days of playing NL25 6max. Man, I have made soooooo many stupid mistakes. Feel like a complete noob again. But my last 2 sessions I started feeling it... just hope I don't lose touch by missing poker due to the real job kicking my ass, hehe.

I work for a nonprofit organization that does educational programs and conferences that bring youth together with nobel peace prize laureates. It is fun, but sometimes it's extremely hectic. I'm hoping to eventually make enough poker money that I can keep doing this work as a volunteer thing so that I'm doing interesting shit other than just sitting in front of a computer screen, but at the same time not broke ass poor like I am now, hehe. It doesn't pay very well, hence "nonprofit organization"
but the travel is paid, so that's nice =) |
