So this month has been crazy. I started the month stuck 10k. Playing a lot of 3/6-5/10. Lost like 5-6k from tilt, the rest legitimately. Regardless of the tilt, I was playing awesome all month. I was seriously reading souls. The game all of the sudden made sense to me. I went from -10k to +10k on the month in about 5 days. Yay

Not. Lately I have been getting extremely depressed again(no idea why really..). Been doing a ton of drugs(weed, lsd, x). Not going to class, etc etc. My life is kind of falling apart. I am also really sick... boo hoo. Anyways, my game is off now and I have been losing. I have been running below average, but have also not been playing that well. I am gonna drop down to 2/4 and 1/2 and start grinding again. Gonna slow down on the shot taking at 5/10. I need to get back on my game. No biggie

Aside from all that bs, I need some advice.

How much money should I keep online?

I really want to start investing this money so I can buy a house within the next year. My credit is horrible due to some ridiculous debacle with my old university. I am currently debt free, but dont have much else to show.

Say I keep putting money into my money market account. By the time I am ready to buy a house, say I have 150k in there. Will I be able to take out a mortgage for a house? I am not sure how soon I will be able to build up good credit again(if you have suggestions how, tell me...).

Another thing is, how much do I keep online? I would love to keep as much as I can online for tax purposes, but I need to grow my assets. If I am playing primarily 2/4-3/6 6m, and 5/10 FR, with some random shots at good 5/10 games, what kind of online liquid bankroll should I keep?

My plan was to take out anything over that set amount every 2 weeks.

All advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Pat

75-90k? is that serious? That seems like too much. I think I need to have bank statements showing my net worth growing at a steady rate so I can buy a house and such, no?

I personally feel like I need maybe 25-30k online to play 2/4-3/6 6m + 5/10 FR full time. I just dont want to get bent over as far as taxes go...but I guess I will be getting bent over sooner or later, no?

25-30 sounds fine 30 buyins for the max limit you will play is decent

agreed with all the ppls saying stop taking drugs
in terms of building credit, cant you just do all your spendings with your credit card? Might help a little if nothing else. Just be sure to pay all your spendings and not just the minimum

If ur looking to buy a house, wether u get credit or not depends on a lot of factors. Obv the bigger down payment u make the more likley it is u'll get a loan. Say ur buying a house that's worth 300k, if ur down payment is say 150k u should get a loan no problem IF u can prove that ur capable of paying it off (which might be hard seeing as u don't have an employer). The other way to get a loan with bad credit is to get someone with good credit to co-sign with you (like ur parents or something) that way the bank knows if u can't pay ur debt, someone can pay it for u.

In recent years banks have been giving out loans for houses like candy because the housing market was soaring and the banks knew that even if their creditors defaulted they'd still be able to make the money back because the house would have gone up in value. This is beginning to change however because the housing market is crashing.

As far as taxes go, u can be shady about em. Like someone said above when u make a deposit less than 10k to your bank account the bank doesn't have to report it to the IRS, but YOU are still supposed to report ur earnings at the end of the year or whatever. Basically, you can get away with it but if the IRS gets wind of your income after some time they'll come after u for back taxes plus all the penalties that go along with them. Like say, all of a sudden outa nowhere u buy a 300k house but haven't been paying taxes for the last few years.

If you wanna get technical Income tax is actually illegal. Go on google videos and search "America Freedom to Fascism" and watch the documentary by Aron Russou.

Let it roll.

If you want to get technical, that stuff is all total bullshit peddled by idiots and fraudsters. I have no idea what either the best way or the proper way is to handle taxes on poker, but please don't take any advice you get from random people on the internet too seriously.

well, i dont think 75k-90k is stupid at all
first of all, u avoid taxes for the most part of what u already have online (right?)
also u will have a fair amount of buffer to keep up with those mortgage payments.. not a lot though (wont u have to pay a deposit too??)
also u will feel more confident playing with more money online.. it should help a LOT with your decisions

30k is a joke if u plan to do this, what kind of house are u trying to get? some dogshit neighbourhood ?

i dont know about the whole credit thing

honestly i would just rent a place and work on building my br upto like 200k then buy a really house with large deposit / quick monthly payments

idk im assuming your BR is like 100k or so atm on account of that tourney

I mean keeping online. My online bankroll. Meaning anything over that set amount gets put into investments. The investments will continue to grow, but my bankroll will stay the same. As far as a house goes, I dont know how expensive it will be, well see when the time comes.

ah i see, in that case 30k isnt so bad then assuming u have fairly/very low risk investments

Have you ever wondered which hurts the most: saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing, and wishing you had?

Problem is you cant stop drugs anymore without help from others once youre really into it.
You really need to either make a therapy ( unfortunately most people i know who made a therapy got even worse after it) or get a girlfriend that helps u out.
I isolated myself from the real world for 3 month (no school , no work , no partying ) and just stayed with my ex GF almost 24h a day.We did lots of like hiking , swimming etc. And she did everything she could to prevent me from taking drugs .
basically it was like a real therapy for me and the only way to get out of this. What kept me from going insane was her love and her warmth and though it was a hard time i managed to get clean.

Thats how i managed to quit drugs.

And i have to say i would never ever touch this shit again. I hate drugs.
I ROFL when people talk about how cool weed and stuff is and how they smoke pot and do some speed ocasionally and that they think people who are against drugs are uptight ...
THis people have absolutely no clue since they "shortstack drugs" and no nothing about the real game

So yeha my frist advice is to quit drugs . ( if you are not too deep into them it should be no problem ... and if you are deep get some help) . regular consum of drugs leeds to depression.
Thats for sure

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)

Weed is not that bad especially if you're only using it socially. I think you guys are swinging way out into left field to simply assume that the source of his depression is the drugs. Theres a good chance that he's using the drugs because he's feeling depressed rather than the other way round. Anyways you might want to think about just talking to a counselor at school they might be able to give you some tips/advice about how to keep things on track. Thats about all I can think of. However genuinely admitting your feeling off-track and would like some help is a very good start so I would say your more or less ahead of the game in that respect.
