Hey guys, it's ClouD, many of you already know me from Starcraft. I'm making this blog because I decided I will earn 100k by the end of next year by any means necessary. And I'm going to do it.

For the guys who have read my previous post a year ago, I started playing SNG with an italian poker school. They turned out to be big scammers, I wasted lots of time and wasn't given resources to study properly and improve. I made some money but not as much as expected and it was overall a big delusion. They actually impaired my progress and kept me ignorant as much as they could so they could keep a hamster on a wheel farming rakeback without too many questions. In the end a month ago some friends of mine made me realize what was going on, made me switch to cash and the nightmare finally ended. Trust me, it was tough, but I was still alive and I really wanted to prove myself once again I'm capable of great things if I put my heart into it :D

Some of you heard already of BestPokerCoaching and HansTheGreat (the guy who started at NL2 with 50$ and made 100k in 9 months of hard, hard work). I just applied for their coaching for profit program and he will be my coach from now on. I believe in his ability and I will try to follow his steps in my new journey. I'm going to play and study poker with all my passion and might and I will run towards my goal at the cost of killing myself. I just don't care anymore about RL, games, stupid shit and free time, all I desire at the moment is achieving the success I deserve and prove everyone I'm capable of great things at poker aswell.

I love teamliquid so this is the first place where I wrote my blog. I'll keep you guys updated, and I might also make a thread on 2+2, who knows. Cheer for me or hate me, I'll show everyone how a man will put everything he has on the line to achieve his dream!

I will be happy to talk with you guys about my experience and I will also read every post on this thread. First thing I will do is play 100k hands in 2 weeks on Pokerstars.it at NL10 zoom (I am Supernova already). I am starting today and I am super excited for my next months. Let's see how far my dedication will take me!

GL, I believe it's definitely possible as long as you do it the right way.
Regarding game choice, you make way less money with SNG, and I dig cash way more. Also being able to pee at the toilet and not inside bottles while you are tabling 40x is definitely a big plus.

I see your point, and I had doubts of course at the beginning, especially after what happened. But I did my research, the poker school looked legit enough for me to trust them, and after I had a talk with Hans I felt like he had a very professional approach and great work ethics. I really believe it will work out this time, and I also really like Gordon and his no bullshit mindset. We are very much alike in that regard.

Hey cloud gl on the journey! I can see that you are a man with dedication! Haven't heard from you since the last post (the one you said you just started poker about 1 year ago), but you should start post hands here regularly, and I think you will also get some good help for free by people on LP And I would love to see your progress.

I have a question: How much do you think getting a coach is helping you compared to no coaching? With the volume you put in, do you think you would be able to get to the same level you are currently at just as fast, so you can maybe start getting coaching only after you start plateau'ing?

PS: you should stop by HomeStory Cup X and just crush SC2 pros on the poker table for funzies

Hey mate thank you! Since I got into self improvement I figured getting coached is the fastest catalyst for improvement. You can learn so much from other people, especially if they are qualified, and I really don't mind giving a % of the money I earn to somebody that will speed up my whole learning process by a ton. It just seems a great investment to me, but of course many people also think differently on this matter, so it's highly subjective. One thing I really missed when I was a Starcraft 2 progamer was a coach, and I believe americans and europeans could easily beat korean players if they only had good guidance. It's just that important.
I will definitely start posting hands here (even though having a replayer and not just text would definitely be nice), I usually watch the ones with most comments and the feedback is definitely very useful.

Actually Take invited me to HSCX and I already booked the tickets a month ago and HSC is always a ton of fun. Though I am not sure I will go since I am really into poker atm, but perhaps I can take a last week off before I begin the coaching program (it's from 12 to 17 nov anyway as far as I remember). Getting money out of MoMaN would be perfect though. The guy is a hardcore gambler, he plays maniac at the table and would even bet 50€ on coinflips for 20 times in a row.

Don't set stupid goals (money, number of hands etc), try to learn something new everyday, analyze your play and your opponents, have proper sleep hygiene and sit to play only if you have desire for it (and desire for improving), not because you have to (coz of your goals). The coach is very important (it's sad your first one was a jerk) and will definitely help you a lot.

The coaching program he's in expects you play like 48 hours a week so that's not gonna be possible. Good luck Cloud!

I know it's not for everyone, but if I take this as everybody else did I will be expected to have everybody's else results. Since I'm trying to do something out of the ordinary my commitment to poker has to follow in direct proportion. That's also the reason I got really good at Starcraft, I was obsessed and played a lot with less care for other things. It's just natural that if you want to get something you need to give something back.

yes i disagree also about "don't set stupid goals"

of course you want to learn something new every day. but even if you just learn one new thing every day for the rest of your life you will never run out of new things to learn anyway. it's also important to succeed to work hard as shit. i mean in any other field this is obvious, if you ask ma long how he learned ping pong he doesn't say well i practiced a little bit but mainly i woke up every day learned one move and then if i didn't feel 100% i watched tv... if you ask jaedong how he got good he won't say yeah i watched julyzerg play and my coach and i figured out some stuff he can do better i just practiced when i felt like it

pedagogically you can't just learn your skill up to like negreanu level in a vacuum and then start learning how to put the effort in. i mean yes you make mistakes but along the way it's more important to train yourself in the discipline of the specific thing you're doing.

i do believe in like the organic creativity of when you have a specific issue that you can just sit on it or work on something else or take a day off go to sleep wake up come back and your brain will have figured something out independent of you, but when you work hard it's just better

what i am saying is it's not just about learning the skill it's about learning how to learn the skill. and so you need to practice the skill but also you need to practice practicing so you get better at that so the productivity density of your time increases

tl;dr i mean even if you fail at a random goal you will have accomplished hopefully more than you would without the goal. anyway gl and gj getting out of your earlier bad arrangement

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

I 100% agree with what you wrote. I remember watching this video a couple years ago and getting really inspired. Rule 5 is truly the most important of all http://www.riemurasia.net/video/6-Rules-of-success/101882
