Man, this is the best show ever. I always forget about it then randomly see it on late night TV or something and end up stuck to the tele watching it.
I have no idea why I find it so entertaining but it really is good stuff.
Anyways, I've always had one question that maybe LP can answer. What is up with people from asian countries always trying to bring in food? I swear like every other episode is an asian family trying to bring all kinds of meat and food into NZ/Aus.

1. In china there are all kinds of laws but the government doesnt choose to enforce it until they want to..so Chinese people dont see law as such black and white.. they'll think its ok to bring meat in even though its very to the rest of us that they shouldnt...
examples are.. the chinese tax system, alomony, traffic rules etcetc.
in short a lack of respect for the law

Everytime I have come back home there is always some weird shit being pulled out of some asian persons suitcase. I always try to walk so slow through the customs area, usually in a half daze because of the bewilderment.

I really don't know shit about it, but what I gather from the show is that they are pretty particular about bringing in food (specifically meat) into Australia from other countries. They always say there is concern about introducing disease etc via food product.
As far as how accurate those possibilities are I really have no idea. I do know that in my travel to some South American countries they were also particularly concerned about people bringing in meat products as well.
As it is on the show, just about every other episode has a segment where some family from whichever Asian country seems to be attempting to bring in an absolute feast and not listing it on their immigration card. It's not really any specific asian country either, it's as if the whole continent wants to bring a gigantic feast with them as they travel. I'm sure they're just hand picking some of the more outrageous cases to display on the show of course, but it happens so frequently it does seem a bit bizarre.
I always figured if you were to go on holiday trying some of the host nations food would be part of the appeal!

You have to declare every food item you bring in. If you don't declare and get caught you will be fined and I think no matter what the item is it will be thrown out. If you declare their are plenty of things that can pass customs. Mostly it's products such as animal based, fruit, veg, nut and seed that come under the harshest scrutiny. It's strict but plenty of food items will get through.
So yeah if you bring in a whole dead bush in your suitcase (I've seen this) or a suit case full of tuppaware containers filled with home made food (it looked like curry) then it's going to be chucked.

We have very good food here and quality produce but to be fair we have no dish unique to us (as far as I know). I doubt you will ever hear, "If you go to Australia you must try <insert dish>".

The next scene was the border patrol finding out the two Asian guys were there for work visa related purposes, and they totally just brushed off the original drug machine test.
