EPT Copenhagen
   SakiSaki, January 31

Yaye! I just won a seat to the EPT Copenhagen. Spent probably like 2-3k on sattelites so I would have been pissed if I didnt win it. I think its going to be awesome, Copenhagen is a sick city and this will be my first major live donkament ever so Im really exited! I also hear alot of legendary lpers are coming like mezmerizeplz and nolan.

Everyone should go, it will be a blast!

See you guys there!

Not enough love
   SakiSaki, January 30

Dont want to spam my own blog but this just didnt get enough love last time i posted cause my post got bumped in like 5 min.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/19/high-stakes-pl-nl/batman-street-poker-394442/

Seriously if you dont find this hysterical you have never been in an epic street poker match. This is not only a pretty solid analysis of certain game dynamics but its a perfect analogy and its hilarious in so many ways.

Supernova Elite prop bet....
   Joeingram1, January 27

Forgot about my blog on here after I got done with the 600k prop bet but will start updating this more as I enjoyed the comments from people and met some new people thru my blogging, plus it feels good to write sometimes about poker things. I'll write an update of what I've been blowing my 27k from November in a month within the next few days.

I'm going for Supernova Elite on Stars this year, as many many others are for now, but have really had 0 motivation so far. I always grinded alot before because I was usually broke and needed to make money to pay the bills. Now that I have a good sized bankroll and my monthly bills are around 1kish and I dont really spend money on anything to often which means I dont really need to grind that much poker.

But I will send an open challenge to people that are going for SNE that play similar stakes to me, I play Full-Ring 100nl and some 200nl at the moment, on who can get there first and will bet any amount within reason to me on it. I currently am only at 41k VPP for the year. So if you or someone you know is interested in this PM me on here and we can book it. Idk how many people going for it at 100nl-400nl are trying to achieve it quickly as most I know are trying to stretch it out over the year but I'm sure some people would be interested in this as some extra motivation for themselves as well.

Also will prop bet with anyone on ps (even the asian bots) on any sorta most hands in a certain time (week, month, 2 month, 3 weeks, 5 days). Don't let my month of november fool you, I cant grind like that anymore . If you know anyone interested in this also let them know or let me know. Would probably only be open to Full Ringers at the moment since that is my main game but I have started dabbling in 6 max in preparation for something epic later on in the year.

Tours?
   longple, January 25

Maybe I'll try to stick to tours for a while..

Made more money in 3 days playing HU SnG's then I've made playing micro cashgames for like the last 3-4 weeks of not to much winnings..

Also I play the SUPER TURBO wich is really sick, but I have such an edge over my opponent and I've noticed that there is really 0 regs playing super turbo's and every1 is just terrible so I'll stick to them for a while cuz its just suuuuuch fast money

Been doing pretty good, def wininng 66% or more the last like 150 tours Ive played, also made a decent cash in a MTT lastnight.. Though I kinda was unhappy cuz I went out with AA vs QJs when me and the chipleader clashed into each other on the final table on AJT flop. He rivered the K so I was a little unhappy cuz if I've won that pot I woulda been dominating chipleader and prolly won or atleast made top 3 and won a couple of 1000$.. Cuz every1 really sucked at the final table

Hu sng's doing really good anyways, will stick to them for a while.

But I def feel im back on track, 4 doubled my roll in 1 month give or take a couple of days

Anyways, whats a good BR for Mtt's generally? Like 100-150 buy ins? Or more? Any good advice?

Thx and GL

The funniest thing
   longple, January 24

Ok, so I played some hu sngs today for fun, and I won 7 in a row vs this same guy who was just terrible.

So i got a little curious and checked him out. This is his graph:

And he has been playing only smallstakes tours between 1-10$ sngs..

I cant figure out how the fuck you cant even get a little better after 6000 smallstakes tours??

Maybe time to give up the pokerdream mate? ^^

50k guaranteed
   longple, January 23

Played a 50k guarantee today, 2000 players entered.

Went out in around 400th place, top300 in the money..

And ye, btw, I went out on runner runner flushes when flopped trips and TOPSET the 2 last hands i played (right after one and another)..

First hand BB defended with A4o from my BTN raise with KJ, flops obv comes JJA, and he goes runner runner clubs in a ~70BB pot.

So im down to like 12BB, and with 2 limpers before me I push QQ all in in CO. Gets called by both limpers, 1 of them covers me.
They have 44 and A9o from the bigstack (rofl????)

Flop comes Q5T, and some nice runner runner diamonds seals the deal for A9o wich picks up a nice ~30BB pot.

So ill prolly curse poker forever. Won the first pot woulda made me 4th in chips btw. This tour coulda been a nice boost for my BR, but its never easy right?

cu gn gg..

Long sessions today
   longple, January 16

Yo ppl!

Today I wont write like an whole book, cuz tonights its party me and a friend is joining up with 3 nice girls tonight for lots of drinking and just having a great time. Then its off the the pub/nighclub. Will be nice, have been lying pretty much home sick sinse christmas, so feels great to be out in the field again :D

The last days have gone pretty bad, I've played tones of hands but there has been lots of badbeats and coolers. For example I checked out my biggest losers the today.

The list was not very nice:

1: AKo -57$
2: KK -34$ AND only 59% winrate, gone all in preflop 10 of 20 times (tells pretty much huh? SICK) most of flops where just perfect with flopping overpair on dry and nice board. Though the runners hasnt been nice to me.
3: QQ -21$
4: 88 -19$ (flopped 2 sets with 88 today, once i got sucked out on by a nice river straight, money went in turn. 2nd one i ran into AA who hit his set on turn, gratz to him.. not ^^)

But what do you do? I got the money in mostly when my hand was best so w/e.

AA is the only one that has been nice to me today =)only been dealt 5 times over 4.5k hands though wich is PRETTY sick right? but they where like the only big winners, stacked of 4 times i think of those 5 wich was nice.

been playing 14 tables today aswell and you guys maybe know the feeling when u just dont get cut some slack on like any table, puke! =D

Allthough im pretty happy with the end of my session, hope i will get to cooler someone later this weekend, tonight is beernight!

Picked up an decent comeback the last session.

Feels great to still be sticking in NL10 cuz the old me would not have the diciplin to play for so many hours with such shitty $/h. Now its all about building it slow!

Gl guys! <3

Going to whistler?
   SakiSaki, January 16

Just got back from a snowboarding trip in Åre, Sweden. As I was there I came to the realization that I really dont want to move back to my appartment and just grind poker after this. Im just tired of living in a small town in sweden when I could be living anywhere in the world as long as I have a solid internet connection. Also, if all goes well I will go back to school in the fall and this months up to that might be the only opportunity to do a long trip I will have in a long time.

A long dream of mine has been to go boarding in Canada where the best powder snow in the world is to be found. I have the money, I have the time. Why the fuck wouldnt I? Gogo imo! Just gotta sort a bunch of stuff out before I go, like, find a place to live and stuff. Im pretty pshyced about the whole idea of it though and I cant believe I didnt think of this earlier.

This blogpost didnt really have a purpose more than to ramble I guess but If anyone has been to whistler feel free to share any useful information you can think of.

BOING!

Herro my riddle friends!
   longple, January 14

Ok, so this is my story.

I've for a long time been visiting lp.net but never really made any noice. Some of you ppl might know me or maybe atleast seen me around earlyer if you still are connected to SC:BW. Im from sweden, and i started playing SC:BW like many others in like 98-99 and fell inlove very fast. I've played under the nickname "RataN" (played in clans like, iG/uT/puLs/NaW-/ if that is familiar for some of you?) for the last like 4-5 years maybe and been a part of the swedish nationalteam for a couple of years now aswell =D. Though i havent played much for like 6 months now. :/ Atleast nothing serious, only some 1v3, 1v4 vs my roommates who also loves sc:bw. Though they kinda sux

Other then sc:bw im obviously aswell into poker. Ive been playing back and forth and been busting my roll, hm, i dont really wanna count how many times ive busted it on stupidity.

I started off like 2 years ago playing some microstakes like every1 else. But after a while i started gambling..

One day I remember i turned 90$ to 1300$ just moving up as fast as i doubled up.. I ended up playing 6max 5/10$ at partypoker and i remember busting out with QT vs AQ on a QQ2 board in a big pot...

Ah good times.. (not) At that time I was pretty bad aswell.. but mostly crazy.. I really snap asfast as i play higher stakes, I somehow in a strange way lose the fear of losing the money, instead I see the chanse of winning a huge amount. But as fast as i stop play, I kinda undersood what the fuck I was doing and my knees started to shake and i almost fainted i remember..

After that ive tried "grinding" out pretty much both low stake sng's and HU sng's + cashgames both hu/6max/fullring. But ive always ended up playing HU 3/6$ for my whole roll like a retard as fast as I reached a decent bankroll.... (idiot? yes)

I've kinda have/had no diciplin... I read alot about players grinding out from 0.01/0.02 for months of months of playing and i really envy you guys. I've tryed alot to be one of those guys who has that diciplin to play for so small amount of money hour after hour.

Though, ive gotten a little better and i really want to make it in poker. Cause i love this game.

But i think I kind of started at the wrong end of my poker "career". Ive started off feeling the thrill of winning a pot of 2000$ when i was 18 years old and made like 200$ / month. And kinda got addicted to that thrill because it happened again, and again, and again.

But ive never had good bankroll management. For example once i won 3100$ in a 100$ MTT and played maybe around 8000 hands of 1/2$ and made a roll of about 5000$ and a couple of days later lost it all at the 3/6 and 5/10 HU tables...

I never think ive really grinded a level, in a smart, and kind of "risk free" way. Never.

Ive never used programs like pokertracker och holdemmanager before either and I've always in a way "been on my own" playing alot about my gut feelings and maybe in a little "own" way, if I can put it like that... I've never until the last couple of months been using sites like cardrunners or really getting into these types of "regular grinder" forums or sites. Ive read a couple of books, started of reading Barry Greensteins Ace on the River like 1.5 years ago, and ive also looked through Super System aswell and from that I pretty much built my own picture of how I should play. And I have been winning lots of lots but before when i had like 1 bad session i just went CRAZY on tilt. Or not on tilt, but i just got tired of not winning more then like 2$ after 4 hours of play on microstakes tables when i could win 1000's of $ in the higher stakes.. Im a young, stupid man... And the harsh truth is that ive prolly just wasted like 10 000$ maybe, just because of PURE lack of bankroll management and grinding diciplin. Just went off gambling, flipping with JJ vs AK with my whole bankroll :S

Im prolly a losing player, if we look at my statistics. Im probably - like 2-3000$. Cuz sometimes when ive lost those pots ive deposited alot of my money coming from my work. Remember 1 time when i busted like 2000$ (MY WHOLE month of payment) in like 4 hands of sick coolers..

But there has also been times when ive deposited when ive had a break for a while about 400$ and quitted the night with over 2000$ of profits wich ive used to my a car, and a whole new computer for example. Though overall i think im back alot of money... Its scary for some1 who should be playing NL10.. Very scary.

But this my friend. Is my turning point.
After i lost my whole roll the last time ive kinda took a break for about 5 months now but now im back. And i really whant to give this a fair shot.

Though ive used holdemmanager now for a while and it really has helped me alot of cooling down. All the statistics makes it more easy for me to look at it as a long run profit and i really hope i can make it this time. Also ive been studiyng alot, really making myself mentally prepered for this shot of playing again. Ive prolly watched like every video on cardrunners, read alot of articles. Watch alot of my friend who is a 3/6$ regular on partypoker playing, discussing with him and so on a ton of poker. And now I hope im ready. And it has gone pretty good this far and I feel like I really have thought this through

So. For disciplin. Ive set a goal of playing a minimum of 60 000 hands of NL10 (0.05/0.1) with a starting roll of 500$. Even if i have a roll for 20NL before ive reached those 60k hands (20NL as the stakes are at iPoker network instead of 25NL) I wanna make this goal. Only for training. Just grinding grinding grinding, I play mostly 6 max, but I mix it up with some Heads up aswell now when my roll has grown to about 75 buy ins. (760$ roll) And it has gone pretty well

Im up about 25 buy ins now over 11 000 hands played over about 1 week and it feels really REALLY good. :D

I feel like I can do this, I wish I started off at this end of the road for about 2 years ago, starting to grind out micro stakes.. But what do you do? I've learned alot and I try to look at the positiv side of it. I think Im fit for the microstakes, I think I can beat it the old fashion way and im excited to do so. Ive been mentally prepering for this for almost half a year and it feels really good that it starts off so well.

Today i played 4 tables of HU, for about 1000 hands and it ended up pretty ok i think.

So i hope that maybe joining a wonderful community like this, and kinda keeping updates (mostly for myself kinda like a diary) will help me to keep focus. And not loose reality and just go crazy in high stakes. That I have tryed already, and it was not a very good option if I want this to work longterm.

I've worked hard for all of the money that I've lost to bad bankrollmanagement, working fulltime since I graduated from high school. But now I will make poker to something else then a way of gambling 60/40 flips of money i dont afford to lose. I want to play poker, longterm, because I love the game. And I love the thinking and constant guessing and improvement of this game. It's soooo big and so much to conquer. And I really want to be a part of it. I hope I can make this work.

Even if I have to play microstakes for all eternety :D Also i play on the iPoker network on the site, Victor Chandler. Maybe ill move to stars or FTP later but for now they have a nice bonussystem for me and they've always been loyal to me cuz ive played there pretty much over the last 2 years.

Btw, if someone even had the time or will to read my first blogpost I maybe can say something about myself as a person now at the end of this very long blog.

My name is Filip Bryndahl, im 20 years old and i live in Umeå Sweden with 4 friends in a big appartment. (party 24/7 obv) I love music and i went studying music the last 3 years of "high school" or w/e at a music acadamy. I also play american fotball (rofl yes its true :D we have a team in our town in sweden, we really sux but i think its really fun playing real matches and stuff, we have a small league here in sweden, obvious its not really that big of a sport here but ^^). I play linebacker/cornerback, defense -.- though ive kinda slacked off the last time.. but i still try to train with the team as much as possible.

And ye, also I live under the stairs, ROFL, (cuz I was the last one to move in, there is only 4 rooms) where i have my comp + 22" widescreen hd screen. Ive kinda made it coasy in here. Lying mostly in my bed, watching movies/series. Ive but up kind of "blankets" or what I should call it, so its kind of a small room. Thats pretty much the reason why I've quit playing BW. Because its pretty hard playing good laying down with the keyboard on your stommach =) But 60$ rent / month in the middle of the city I can live at any fucking place :D

Im sorry for my bad english also, but I havent been using it much lately. Would be fun if anyone actually read this post, I dont excpect it but it would be kinda cool feel free to post some kind of comment if you survived this far of my boring pokerstory!

Ill try to keep my upcoming updates a little bit smaller

Peace and gl!

/ RataN <3

P.S I also love Southpark, its the best thing ever made, ever.

over and out ^^

New watch
   SakiSaki, January 03

Obv I want to be like frinkx so I ordered a new watch. Normally I am to much of a lifenit to spend alot of money on a watch, and I have stopped myself from doing so in the past ensuring myself that if I ever scored big in a donkament I would buy one.

So yeah, the day finally came and I can buy a nice watch without feeling like a life degen. I have looked around alot on watches drooling over among others the zenith chronomaster but finally decided on a more plain and standard swiss watch, the omega speedmaster.

Donkaments + year summary
   SakiSaki, December 30

Heh, yeah so this year ended in the best possible way pokerwise. I guess ill just do a quick summary of the year and after that ill talk a bit about the sunday mill.

2008 started out crappy, I had battled a pretty epic downswing and with a combination of tons of cashouts and poor bankroll management I had managed to put myself into a spot where I had to get staked. Being staked was for me a horrible experience. My backer was supercool in every way and was always very supportive but I just felt really uncomfortable playing with someone elses money, I do think it affected my play to a certain extent and this in combination with the quality loss that my play always experience during a bad run just made me play pretty bad. At this time I was still in school and it tilted me that I had to sit through meaningless lectures all day not being able to focus all my energy on battling the downswong.

A few things helped me climb out of this hole of shit that I had dug myself. First, I sattelited into the ftops main event with ftp points, pinball and I swapped 10% and being the hero that he is pinball obv binked 6th? or was it 8th place? For 80k giving me a nice 8k boost to my roll. Second, and I guess most importantly I found heads up. I had played HU alot back in the day but hadnt touched it in a while and sick of all the negative emotions I had associated with 6-max I started dabbling around in the heads up games on ipoker. I pretty quickly discovered two things:

1. HU really suits me, you can play very crazy and agressive and do tons of fun stuff.
2. People fucking suck at HU.

This golden combination made me crush the games for several months, I destroyed 2/4 and 3/6 for good winrates and consistently made between 15-25k a month not putting in a sick amount of hands. I do think I ran pretty well aswell throughout my first 100k hands or so. Unfortunately there are also downsides to playing almost only HU. As most of you know I dropped out of school in september and even though I dont regret that one bit I was by the end of this year pretty sick of being just a professional HU player. Its hard to get a good structured grind when you sometimes have to sit and wait for action for 30 min and sometimes feel that you really cant leave the tables cause you finally managed to get a huge fish to 2-table against you. Poker doesnt provide alot of structure to begin with, and HU poker really provides none. It takes its toll and by the end of the year I was sick of the whole thing, I didnt feel like playing at all cause I was tired of not getting action and having shorties hit and run me all the time. I didnt put in alot of hours at all and just played dota and waited for the next opertunity to get drunk with my friends.

Due to this I have been trying to get back into playing 6-max again. Grinding out the 2/4 games on stars made me realize how much I have improved this year. I can for the first time with confidence say that I am better or even way way better than all the 2/4 regs on stars. Its just overwhelming how these guys wear their leaks on their sleeves and just have bad fundamentals overall.

I dont have any exact numbers for my results cause all my hands are split over several computers and several diffrent programs but I think I landed somewhere around 100-120k profit in cashgames this year.

I could ramble on forever about the things I have learned this year but that will be way to long so ill just wrap this cashgame summary up with one word of advice:

Manage your bankroll. Dont be dumb like me and put yourself in a spot where you have to get staked and hate life. Poker is so much easier when you are comfortable and enjoy playing the game with little or no stress.

This got alot longer than I had planned so yeah, props if you made it this far.

Ill just finish up talking a bit about my sunday million win.
First of all I just want to say, and I think most of you guys who read my blog regularily knows this. I hate donkaments so so much. Theres nothing in this world I have cursed so much over as donkaments. Its the most frustrating form of poker there is. I insist on playing them though cause the sundays are soft and I have always wanted one big score. I got close in September when I busted 11th in the mill on a huge coinflip with JJ vs AQ. I was discouraged and life tilted for days after that.(I dont want to sound like an ungreatful little bitch here cause I did win 7,5k, but everyone who has gotten close but not quite all the way in a big donkament knows what im talking about)

But I kept playing. I think one of my best qualities as a poker player(and I think i share this with alot of you ex-scgamers) is that Im so god damn fucking stubborn. If I have set my mind one something I never give up Im not saying I deserve this win in any way because I dont. Im a huge luckbox and saying anything else would be a lie, but I have also worked hard and I am a firm believer in that hard work always pays off in the end. I think this vide symbolizes my struggle with donkaments pretty well:

gotta get there god damn it!

I ran good in so many ways this sunday. I wasnt running superhot in making premium hands and stuff like that but I was never really "forced" to make moves i managed to hold or suck out in key hands all the time. I also drew some really good tables, at the table from the bubble down to like 300 players left I played 32/28 and everyone was just letting me run them over completely. From the final 100 down to my win I did suck out like a champ, most of you guys who railed knows what im talking about. I think atleast 95% of my plays where correct but I still managed to get it in bad a ton, thats just the nature of 20bb poker I guess. What seperates champions from the rest is that the champs suck out everytime they get it in bad and hold everyime they get it in good. I think thats pretty much what it takes to win one of these unless you are mig.com or elky and just a crazy sick good donkament player.

I also ran good in that the quality of the players was very poor. Its just insane how some of these guys made the final table. The bad players also managed to suck out on and bust the few really solid players left leaving me with a very soft final table. I guess I shouldnt be so harsh when talking about the quality of the players though, I do think a couple of those guys probably are pretty good and solid but I think the fact that we where at a final table affected them more than I let it affect me and they sort of let me run them over. This was also the deciding factor regarding refusing the chop and I just wanna say a couple of things about that. Now, I dont think that I am a perticularily good donkament player and I dont really suffer from any allusions of grandeur in that department. I would gladly chop in alot of situations securing a nice payout with a good chopdeal. At this final table though, everyone in the last 6 or so played really weak/tight. One exception being the guy who busted third who seemed to to mix up being weak/tight with playing like a crazy monkey klicking buttons. I felt I had a pretty good edge in terms of skill and I had a good stack, but what gave me the biggest edge with 6 or so left was that I was playing fearless and everyone else was trying to make sure they werent the next one to bust. If I had chopped then I might have gotten a good deal but it would have killed sooo much of my edge since with a nice payout already secured alot of these guys would have started playing more optimal. Not chopping allowed me to blindsteal my way to a win.

I guess from now on I am never ever entitled to ever whine about anything pokerrelated again so yaye for that! Also, to Lady Donkament and all the other poker gods: I am sorry I have been so harsh and ungreatful to you sometimes. We have had a troubled past but thats all forgotten and forgiven.

This donkament win makes 2008 my by far best year ever with around 450k in profits, a result I in all likelyhood never will be able to top, but I have to say Im ok with that.

Also I once again want to thank everyone for railing and supporting me, you guys are awesome and I love you all <3<3<3 Special shoutout to ket for being a great friend and doing his best to keep my ego from making me do something wreckless and peachy for making a reversed jinx rail thread.

Happy new year everbody and may you all run great in 2009!
