lol...dream about lp n randomnessby NeillyJQ, October 23
ok, first off let me state this all happens during my dream
Its the middle of the night and I'm asleep, and all the sudden a group of ppl walk in. Theres Rekrul, BlueWolf, Artanis, Sheitan and uh my friend Nick Bowman from college
first off lemme tell u guys about each person individually
rekruls been an online friend, he was the best sc player from the usa, probably the main reason i got into poker, and hes always had an extremely good thinking logical poker mind.
Bluewolf was a sc player that i always thought was a douchebag, no offense, idk why, just never really liked him. i think he played toss and was a good player though, i met him at wcg once and was nice to him and his brother for like 20 mins then never saw him again. i did see him get uber good at sc in later days though ( i met him in 02)
Artanis is someone I've been getting to know recently and I have a lot of respect for him, he didn't do much in the dream, he was more like sitting there watching what was going on between rekrul and bluewolf.
Sheitan was in the dream...which is weird cuz i didn't know what he looked like, but i'll get to that in a minute.
My friend from college nick bowman was in the dream, he was an avid CS player and MMORPG player, also a pretty cool guy and fun to hang out w/
Ok, so i wake up in the dream, yet im still dreaming, i wake up to realize that im in my moms house which is weird since i haven't lived there for an extended time in like 5 yrs, but w/e u know how dreams go. So they all show up and i'm like, dude, did u guys see my commercial? I'm on TV. They're like what?? I'm like yeah, I was just in San Diego and they threw a pass to some reciever and i ran into the field and caught it and started yelling "hahahahaha san diego sucks" (which has relevence since the bills beat san diego last week and i've been die hard billz fan for my whole life)
so i show them it, look on lp and see a thread about it w/ alot of lolz n shit, all good times
i start chattin w/ rek a lil, hes being pretty quiet, but i can see hes up to something. then all the sudden hes like lets get a chess tournament going. obv we're playin for moniez, first he starts off w/ a best of 5 vs bluewolf and hes insta down 1-2 when i ask how its going, he wasn't too happy, they never finished the series so GG rekrul, u lost to bluewolf, "HAHAHA INTERCEPTION, U SUCK"
Artanis was sitting in a chair practically the whole time, on the side of the chess board just obbing the game and not really talking or doing anything.
My friend nick bowman was reading my mind, everytime i thought "u suck, or ur fat" he would counter with "u suck, or ur too skinny", she was drivin me crazy, was like he was the thought police or something!
lol, and sheitan was there, he was showing me pictures of himself online for some fucked up reason, being like "look this is what i looked like in high school (looked like a picture of a guy about 6'4 245 lbs with some crazy hair and he was much bigger than the other 15 ppl or so that were in the picture)
then like all the sudden he turns into a softy and he shows me new pictures of him that are this crazy anime girl? LOL, what the fuuuuuuuuuck does this mean? lollolololol idk but i think it was all just pretty funny.
Oh, sheitan was on my stars account too, and i KNEW i had $432 on my stars account, and i didn't trust him for some reason (no offense sheitan, only a dream), so i check my account when he leaves to see whats up and i see that I have only $315 left. I'm like zOMG WTF happened, so i check my transfers and i see he transfered himself $120 from my account. I'm like fuck fuck fuck, so i do a cancel pending transfers (ya i know its impossible on stars but this is like a bank transaction in a dream i guess), and then i check my account to make sure everything was back to $432 and it was at $100. IM LIKE WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE.
So i woke up instantly.
rekrul lost to bluewolf 2-1
artanis is very observant
sheitan is a big boy w/ a soft spot for anime girls?
nick is a mindreader and a dick about it
The $6.50s are a goldmine in terms of grinding, and I'm closing in on 50bi for the $10+1. Of course SNGs are a high variance game, but I feel as though I'm crushing the $6.50s. I go back and re-analyze my hands via SNGWiz, and of course I make mistakes, but I feel the softness far outweighs my slip ups.
However, should I be moving up? The $10+1s are not turbos, so naturally the hourly rate will decrease. Also, the skill level will probably increase, meaning my ROI will drop. Also, I tend to play EXTREMELY nitty in the first initial stages, mainly because my edge is much stronger as the blinds go up, so the increase in time is not really a HUGE advantage for me.
My other plan is to just grind it out until I'm rolled for the $16 turbos.
Well for the hopefuls like myself, positive energy thoughts do not always work. The other day as tournament went on break entering the FT of the 100r I went outside, took a deep breath, and was never as confident and positive I was going to win as this. First hand KK < AJ for 2nd place stack. FML. But that is fine. I am still remaining positive. But channeling positive energy wont change the cards.
I am noticing more and more some of the 5/10 and 10/20 regs dropping limits and increasing tables. When I play 5/10 and 10/20 I only like to 4-6 table. But anything below that I can 20 table. Looking at my graphs on PT, I dont know why I am even attempting the 5/10 10/20 games. Wait, yes I do. I'M A DEGENERATE. I make more profits at 1/2 per table than I do at any other limit. Not even considering BB size, straight up make more money. But being a 1/2 player is embarassing. My best friend plays 200/400. But I need to put my ego aside. This is a business. I make 7 BB/ hr at 1/2. And I can 20 table. That is a stellar wage. There is no reason for me to move up limits. If I can actually convince myself this, I can stop having 30k losing days.
No matter how bad I run at 10/20+ it doesnt matter. I suck at higher limits. Who cares? I just can't take the stresses of losing 4 pretty little yellow chips or God forbid a light blue one. It is a gut wrenching feeling for me. I am not in this to suck off other people or to get sucked off myself. I am in it for one reason: MONEY. This job pays better than any job I can get. I can make $200 or so an hour, never gamble and never stress. WHY DO I HAVE TO TAKE SHOTS AND KILL MY BR EVERY SINGLE FKN TIME I HAVE SOME CASH? Let's hope I can come to the realization that I am a 1/2 reg and the only shots I take come with a lime and salt.
Going too good, running good etc. At this rate ill be moving up after just 4.5 days of 50nl, dunno if I should wait a bit longer. Anyway taking a break now, gonna play some snooker. Was gonna try push my biggest winning day ever out today, but gonna take a break and play some more later.
Tell me what you think about moving up so fast whether I should give it a little more time/whatever.
So I just woke up at 3pm and I have exams in 4 days time that I still haven't studied for so obviously the best decision here is to post a blog that no one will probably read:
Is it just me or does LP go through the same 'cycles' every few months maybe even year/s?
This question is directed at the people who have been here for at least more than a year, because I cannot be the only one who's noticed the incessant repetition of the same down syndrome inflicted posting of the same topics over and OVER again.
I'm talking about threads that you KNOW are going to come up in a few months time again, like the 'Which Monitor', which as soon as I type 'monitor' into the search field comes up with:
This is probably the easily most acceptable repetitive cycling of the same topic, but then you do the same search for 'Mouse' and 'headphones' all of which come up with a bunch of threads where the same question is always asked by the OP who is somehow too retarded/lazy to do some review reading themselves.
In addition is the fact this is a POKER forum where granted you may get good replies from people who have the same needs as you and have probably also played a fair amount of games but not only are there dozens of sites that review these products but there is a SEARCH FUNCTION! --> yes really.
Anyway, these are all minor annoyances and nothing when compared to thread gems like these recent ones for example:
^ This one is a personal favorite and while we may laugh and mock the OP (original poster) this is sad considering these threads come and go every xx months
^I'm not trying to hate on the OP since as a beginning player or a new player to the online games this may actually be more of a legitimate question than most but it doesn't stop me from reading and cringing before using it in a dumb blog post.
This recent post is quite possibly at least actually original, I'm not sure if I've read a post that is even similar in content... And the content is fantastic!
I mean ranking player labels which include "Poker LEGEND", 'Rounder', 'ATM machine' and 'Cash Cow' that's the kind of information you're going to need to move up the stakes.
There's just no possible way that you could play any poker without this CRUCIAL understanding of 'poker player labeling'....
My personal favorite, every few months a new member of LP and often a relatively beginning poker player will post a thread where they laugh or cry about a beat before having every poster (this includes trolls, decent posters and people who are no better than them) rip them to pieces.
While this is no doubt amusing for all involved except possibly the OP of such threads, I'm not sure it's terrific for encouraging new players regardless of assumed mental capacity to learn the game here at this site.
I seem to remember a post from a couple of years ago that set out 'Forum Rules' and it should probably be updated (with links to resources, examples) but I seriously think that new members to the site would benefit from being given some idea of what to expect.
Here's the old thread on forum rules if anyone was curious : Forum Rules
Anyway I've wasted enough time, and I'm sorry that I probably wasted yours.
I made a 40min video today because I'm getting audio commentary done on it on ballerpoker.com. It currently has no audio but if anyone would want to check it out or critique it that would be awesome.
As you can see I mainly play standard ABC (which is pretty weak tight, I want to fix the weakness) and am pretty tight preflop. I sometimes find it hard to decide when to take a stand vs when to fold with some idiots, as you will see in the bottom right table where in two hands I have TT vs the same guy and one I fold and the other I call his shove. Ran decently, except for the KK hand vs the fish on top left table, standard.
Didn't run into any problems with regs this session which is unfortunate because I think a lot of us have problems dealing with light 3 bets and aggression from regs in marginal spots.
Apparently really standardby Sicks Macks, October 22
Day 2 of my sweet downswing. My solace is, my winrate is sick without these!

Rebuilding... And searching for subtitles videos ?by RaiZ, October 22
Alright, seems like i wasn't busted at all... I did have 0$ left but i had some fpp which i spent all to some tournament and won and then exchanged with the generous lp.net trade (everything on lp.net is just lovely <3) for like 10 bucks.
Here's what i did, sure i'm spewy at times cauz sometimes i just can't believe that i'm beat and then go to showdown only to lose more than i thought... Lesson learned. http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/6021/raizpsme4.jpg
Grinding aside, i was wondering if there was any videos with subtitles on ? Like i said on the previous blog, i'm deaf and it's really unfortunate that i can't learn s**t from them. Because well even if i should have stopped poker, i just can't. I'm really anger to learn and i really really want to get better and why not, i want to travel someday (dreaming ? Maybe. Realistic ? Pretty sure it does. Feasible ? Hell why not ?).
Well poker has been weird this month. Started off great and ran a bit hot for a while but was overall about even EV wise. Then I had my worst downswing in a while and for the first time in a long time, I had my EV going up while my winnings went down in a very stark contrast:
Anyway, when I hit that downswing I was kinda demoralized. It took place in about 5 sessions, 2 break even and then 3 big losing ones. I moved back to NL50 for 2 sessions, losing 3 BI the first then winning 3 BI the second. Then I jumped back to NL100 and have started on the path to recovery. I'm determined to be a NL200 reg by January. Once the election is over I'll have a lot more time to dedicate to it.
thanks to sakisaki my game has improved a lot and I can't wait till I can dedicate more time to coaching with him ^^ Oh I'm also about 600 VPP from Platinum start and 7k VPP from supernova! My goal is to make platinum by this month and super nova by the end of november. I'm sure I can do it.
I have a slight dip in my feelings for poker right now since this is my worst pokermonth ever. Because I also have some things to do in school I dont make poker my first priority right now.
But that will change eventually. When that time will come I want to be ready to learn stuff from a poker training site. Until now I have been a member of Leggo Poker but that ended recently when my 6 months membership exspired. Leggo are good but I want a new site now!
What do you guys recommend me to join? Cardrunners or a smaller site like PokerVT? There is a ton of sites out there so its hard to know what to choose. If it helps, I dont care about omaha etc, just NLH cashgames 6 max What do you think is best for me?
Seriously can't figure out a better topic title, guess I'll have to go with the traditional one..
Anyways, after getting some money on my hands thanks to some nice persons after whining a bit on my last blog I started educating myself in the case that is Poker, I read SuperSystem 2 and a lot of hand history posts/tutorials here, at LP.net.
After getting enough confidence and knowledge I started grinding the lowest PokerStars stakes available again last week and did pretty good(?) in my own opinion, got to love the 100 vpip donators there. Sadly though, I've been pretty much laying in bed now because of flu and have had zero chance to play Poker, hope to get well soon.
Some little sample of my run so far, not that big of a sample but its better than nothing, hate the recent downfall but I guess I have to get used to those. http://xs132.xs.to/xs132/08433/arr110.png
I found my new favorite fish today and he donated pretty nicely today. As always it seems like I get stuck a bit at the start of a session but managed to grind it out and make a bit of a profit. I had some really good table selection and they worked well for me. Session started pretty rough have a few hands countered etc. and it didnt help that I couldnt hit my huge draws in huge pots to save my life.
there was some other hands but I cant find them lol. I had a nut straight rivered once and some other shit but I turned it around by waitning patiently.
Going to keep playing this fish... hes running at 75% VPIP... mmmm
The Afghanistan section is a few minutes in and it's some of the craziest footage I've seen in a while. Totally worth checking out:
This lays out one of the huge reasons we never should have gone to Iraq - because we weren't done in Afghanistan! That's where Bin laden and Al Queada were hiding out and we should have gone in strong and finished em off. Then we should have stayed and focused on rebuilding the country with infrastructure and schools so that they could thrive without being forced to fall back on drug dealing. We needed to help them develop a peace keeping force that could prevent any resurgence from the Taliban, and THEN we could leave. Instead we just left a handful of troops there and allowed bin laden to escape and Al Queada to regroup and rebuild while we fucked around in Iraq for NO GOOD REASON! All our resources have been sent to Iraq so now our troops in Afghanistan are sitting there without the proper support they need.
So messed up. So very messed up.
Funny thing is now there are Al Queada supporters basically endorsing McCain... I'm sure John doesn't want their support but their reasons for it are revealing. The reasons they want McCain to be president are the reasons I think that he has the wrong approach on the war:
WASHINGTON — Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.
The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."
On another level, I just wanna say I'm disappointed cause I made a post yesterday asking people to educate me on the "other side" that I'm so often accused of leaving out, but no one gave me any new info (or accurate info). Skot I was especially expecting you to have something cause you're a smart guy who seems to be very down the middle on issues. I'm gonna assume you just didn't read the blog yesterday and that's why. Anyway, if you missed it plz scroll down to the "Demonizing McCain" post and educate me in the comments there. I am not trying to be a dick or start a fight, I honestly want to hear what the "other side" is that I keep neglecting to post about. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to do that =)
And luckbox posted this in 84o's blog and it was so damn funny that I gotta repost it here so I can find it later:
Restarting from the scratch =)by ConquistadoR, October 22
Yo guys,
I think noone here will remember me, but whatever .
I will restart from the microstakes now, I took a few months break from poker, and im back with more motivation than ever! I think this break has helped me a lot, before that I was playing very emotional and I was not focused like I used to be when I was a solid winning player.(Which is quite long ago now..)
This blog here will be there for me to motivate myself, and write down my process.
I am right now playing on some small fishy site in order to get a 500 € bonus. After that im not sure what to do, I must decide whether to go back to my old favourite site (PS!), or to go on a site like FTP, where I can get rakeback, which is surely an amazing thing for smallstakes at least. Oh well, first i gotta focus on getting that bonus! Right now its 5707 FPP left, which is quite a lot considering that I have to play NL10, and with a poor BR Management as well.
