bad times by Robinson47, October 22

a couple of months ago my roll was around $10k then i cashed out $4k and gone on a bit of a downer, my roll is 1800 now and im in the financial shit house.

WARNING: DO NOT READ--- LOSER COMPLAING ABOUT BAD BEATS

i played in the gukpt thanet last week cos i won a seat for the main event a while ago ($2000 buy in), never got going really in that starting stack 10k, i fluctuated around 14k, then when blinds were 200/400 25 antes 9 handed i made it 1100 third to act with 88, dave coclough shoved for 7000 total i call he has 66, flop ten 7 deuce rainbow, 9, 8 river obv, eventually got knocked out when an active second to act 8 handed made it 1200 blinds and marc goodwin third to act called the 1200 i was in bb with ace ten and decided to shove 4800+400 initial raiser folded goodwin called with ace queen diamonds, i had ace spades flop 3 spades turn and river blanks so game over for me, not sure if i should wait for a better spot but both players were active and i had a little fe with 13bb so thought it was an alright spot to gamble. how bad is shoving?

played 100 pound side event total shootout came nowhere, ended up losing ak to qq. Also played 300 pound side event lost the majority of my chips with aces to ace king, loldonkaments. went back to the hotel pissed off and decided to spew 1000 at nl400 hu. Which took my then 4000 roll down to 3000
lost 200 on sunday warm up queens losing to 4s early doors he made it 1200 i made it 3200 on button with queens, flop 9 hi all diamonds he check called my 7k shove with 44d, dont understand why he didnt open shove, diamond turn.
lost 3 buy in at nl100 hu, then thought when i was at 2500 i would just crush nl50,lost 4 buy ins yesterday and 10 buy ins this morning only played for an hour and a bit 3/4 tablin, this is all from one table(few flips at the end):

this is getting absolutely fucking ridiculous. I'm getting told to kill myself. are you serious?? Most of you completely immature. This is a poker website turned hate forum. I'm entitled to my own opinion but not only is it not respected, but i am berated and told to kill myself by the fucking moderators...

To those of you who helped me in a mature way, i thank you for your patronage. I appreciate your help.

Devon, fuck you. I aboslutely despise you. You're an ignorant idiot who makes his life better by demoralizing other people. Congrats, go to hell.

Running Bad by Sicks Macks, October 22

Just had a horrible session. But I'm pretty proud of how I came back into it. I ran bad in every single way one can: flopped maybe 10 sets in 2k hands, only got more than 1 bet out of two of them; draws rarely got there, ran into the top of people's ranges... and of course cold deck hands!

KK
AA<78o in a 3bet pot

AA
AA<33 with a guy setmining a 3bet pot for 30bbs

Straight + OESFD redraw AI on turn
AK
QQ

After dropping 9 buy ins in an hour, which is really new because I'm:

a) a winning player
b) a massive nit

I decided fuck it. I'm playing through it. I really focused in, played aggressively, and made use of my reads. Held steady despite some more coolers and chipped up through small non-showdown pots. Highlights included:

44 resqueeze on some nits [open, call, 3bet, coldcall, fold, fold, fold, RESQUUEEEEEZAMENTS!, fold, fold, time, fold, time, fold]... entirely read based, inital squeezer said he laid down KK (I though he would def fold QQ-.

More non-showdown wins...

AA > AK on KQ6r flop!

I can suck out too:

JJ > KdQd TdAdJx ... Kx .... Tx money went in on river, so not a true suck out (lol slowplay, I did all the betting IP til riv)

Bluffcatching for a BI with KJss on KhQh6x ... 8h board

AA>OESD on turn

And my personal favorite:

AKs > A6s > A3s on AT7 flop 3 AIs. (They put me on KK?)

All in all I ended down 3bi. Which clearly could have been worse, but is frustrating nonetheless because I designed my play to be low-variance, but if you lose 80-20s, you lose, simple as that. Ah well, shit happens.

Thanks for reading. GL at the tables.

Rally mayhem by Baal, October 21

Well this rally was 2 months ago, sadly i couldnt race since my car wasnt out of the repair shop (again :<), problems with the fucking gearbox and suspension so i went there to watch it, and get WASTED!!, nothing like driving twisty mountains roads drunk

Anyway... well it turns out there this mythical turn, (i dunnot, seems like a std turn to me) that always takes casualties, well in 2005 3 cars crashed in the same corner, and considering its over 100km (60miles) of race, its really weird that they went in the same corner, but here are the pics of 2005:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/44fc542dca14772623007bfb9a0246d2.jpg
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/89eab36a899178eb0ea068d00519b178.jpg

So, this 2008 the same event, which is my city event, took place and something very similar but more hilarious happened:

Police cars transit the stage while closing it, like 30 mins before the 1st race car passes, obv some cops get hot-headed and think they are rally drivers, and this cop wasnt the exeption, well he understeered into the grass:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/169869f153ed5ceaa69d1326ea5bfde8.jpg

Close call, but no damage done, it just got stuck in the grass, so this is Stage 1 a few Kms from the start line, and a Red 206 Peugeot shows the cop how a true racer crashes:

But its not all done, the mythical turn wanted more blood so another brave driver sacrificed himself to please it, not before he took a little revenge of many years of police abuse, such a hero!

Day 1 in the penny tables by makito, October 21

so I started day one of my experiment and wow I started playing way too lose for nl2 and trying to make moves lolz and I lost like 7 BI. then I tighten up and started playing like a nit and seen some progress.

NL2 in UB is full of bots that buy in for 10 cents and shove every pair and over cards lols I need to start calling less of those shoves I am losing money there, just call with premium hands.

anyways I dled a free trial of holdem manager, pretty sweet program I might buy it just for the hell of it

here is my stats and graph

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f41892475fa0f6a8a16018f0418f7f77.jpg

I have no idea what any of this means tho anyone care to explain and give some tips ? thanks!

Demonizing McCain? by k2o4, October 21

I've had a couple people bitch about how I don't cover both sides of the story, that when I complain about shit the GOP / Right Wing do, there are equal crimes being committed by the DNC / Left Wing which I don't bother to mention. SkoT made that point in the comments to my last blog post and I replied asking him to give me some examples. I also wanna ask anyone else who's willing to take the time to join SkoT in educating me. Here's the original post:

  On October 20 2008 22:47 SKoT wrote:

All over the internet you see the far left demonizing mccain yet ive yet to see any lengthy diatribes about their evil in your blog.

Show me. Seriously, I'm not tryin to be a dick, I'm really curious. I've even started searching drudge to see what the liberals are doing that is out of line and I haven't found anything comparable to the Muslim lies, or the Ayers / Terrorist / ACORN BS. So please link me or just write a list of the specific things that are being done to demonize McCain.

I mean let's take snopes.com as an example as they collect urban legends being spread via email (another way of saying smears). Obama is rated #1 on their list of Urban Legend Categories, while McCain is #8. McCain only has 11 emails about him and 4 are actually true (not urban legends, not smears). On the other hand Obama has 40 with only 4 of them being true.

The false emails about McCain are on topics like "McCain came up with a clever put-down for a student who claimed the older generation can't understand the current one" and "McCain was one upped by a heckler during a campaign stop" and "McCain would not be eligible to draw a pension after serving two terms as president". The only bad one that was proven to be false says "McCain declared during a 60 minutes interview that he was a war criminal who bombed innocent women and children." That is a twist of a quote.

Then when you look at Obama's list it's pretty gross assault on his patriotism and filled with flat out lies:

Lies about Obama:

Obama is a radical muslim who will not recite the pledge of allegiance.

Obama was sworn into office on the Quran

Access to Michelle Obama's senior thesis has been restricted until after the election (cause it has racist comments)

The book of revelations describes the anti christ as someone with characteristics matching those of Obama

Email compares proposed changes in taxes after the 08 election (and lies like crazy saying Obama is going to raise ALL of your taxes on everything)

Obama refused to make his birth certificate available for examination because it contains damaging information about him (amongst other stuff with the theme that he isn't a citizen)

Obama blew off US soldiers during a july 2008 trip to afghanistan.

3 former fannie mae executives are linked to the obama campaign as chief economic advisors

There's more in there which are half truths, like the Ayers shit that stretches the thin relationship they have to insinuate that Obama is close with terrorists. And that's just the emails which doesn't include the things Palin and McCain said from the stump, the mailers or the robo calls. They've used all those methods to say that Obama pals around with terrorists and that ACORN is committing voter fraud of epic proportions that destroy the fabric of our democracy.

That's pretty much the consistent theme I've seen - there's a few very weak, minor smears against Mccain which barely get any attention, and there is an ocean of disgusting smears about Obama which McPalin are trying to make front page news. But I'm totally open to being proven wrong =)

running good lately in MTTs by sTrAtO, October 21

Probably about 2 weeks ago I started getting really really bored of playing cash games, probably because now that I hit Supernova I don't have anything to pursue anymore so I went back to the donkaments and I've been doing really good lately.

This is my OPR of this month.

I obviously have a lot of $162-$300s tournaments with no cashes but still a very good month. I've won a lot of TLBs lately and thats all that matters now lol. Hopefully I can be the #1 in TLBs from Mexico cause if Stars decides to organize the World Cup in Barcelona again next year, I'll qualify because of my TLB ranking.

Feels good to run good at life and poker at the same time

Swing for the fences... by LandLord, October 21

I got FTP to work fine for me today which was nice but man what a swingy rollercoaster of a day. I managed to get my money back and break even and just said fuck it for now. Going to finish the first season of Dexter now and grab some lunch.

Check this graph out:

Pretty awful month... breakeven so far but really I havent put in nearly as many hands as I usually do due to work hockey etc. Should turn around sooner or later.

Also I noticed that a lot of the players here play on Stars. How are the $.25/50 - $1/$2 6 Max LHE games these days? Havent palyed on Stars for a while but Ive been considering a change for a while.

Moving up by UCSB_Georgi, October 21

So this month i've been playing 25nl and have been focusing on improving my game. Last month i took a few shots at 25nl which failed pretty hard. However, this month i've been playing all 25nl and its going a lot better. Hopefully, my upcoming shot at 50nl won't be too rough.

I've also noticed that with the addition of the auto-rebuy the fish are donating more than ever . Seriously though stars is awesome they just keep improving the interface and software.

Back in business, bitchezzzzz!

I love running good, it's awesome. Even the shittiest of days feel alright if you're running good and playing well(ie winning moniez). Stats for my last 5 days of grinding:

Playing solid as fuck too, barely uploaded any hands though so you'll have to take my word for it.

Anyway, I'll end this post with a really positive song; when tomorrow comes

It's off! by NiTE, October 21

Yesterday I noticed a change in the way my poker lobby looks. The moment I figured out what it was, I got very excited, shipped 4 tables and started playing NL20 6max as usual. I wasn't surprised to see that the money started flowing to me.

Played 1K hands at ~19 BBets/100 -> +4 BIs.

See for yourself if you can notice the difference in these 2 pics:
How it looked before:

How it looks now:

Yep, looks off to me.

Have a look at the graph for this limit; I included the chronological listing of the blog entries I made as the time went on:

Phew.. it feels good to not feel that I'm-on-a-downswing feeling no more.

All in all, I cleared the things I had to do on CDPoker and issued a withdrawal request. In a few days, the money should be in my moneybookers account and then I'll deposit it to a different ipoker site with 45% rakeback. Let's hope I run good for as long as possible!

Smart girl by DustySwedeDude, October 21

So I randomly found some
blogthat one of my classmates that I've talked to like once writes when I was mindlessly checking out facebook. It was mostly random ramblings about whatever but the third post or so was some quotes (I love quotes) from an unknown source. On of them was actually pretty good/funny/smart;

"En äkta vän hjälper dig inte ur fängelse, utan en äkta vän sitter bredvid dig och säger; 'VI strulade till det!'"

It's something like; "A true friend doesn't help you out of jail, he sits next to you and says; 'we fucked up!'". I really like that. Not that it's necessarily the best solution, but from a meta game perspective it's cool. Pretty close to Tom's (??) "wtf I've got an overpair I'm allin lol"-rule.

In other news this month is working out pretty well as far as poker goes;

http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/7016/decentlywellkj0.jpg

I've also started working out like 4-5 times/week with my roommate so that's nice. I think it helps me concentrate more too. We're drinking raw eggs, telling each other to "push it" and listening to eye of the tiger.

Goal: being stronger then my dad next summer.

Expected outcome: Humiliation when getting pwned by my 50+ y/o dad.
