not the whole way, but at least some way. Busted Aj vs AT, but i cant complain, as i ran pretty good, although i never got it in badly for huge stacks. got 3k, br at 8k right now. feels pretty good after being at 3,2k like a week ago.
I'm wondering if im ever gonna deliver for real. Got 36th, 32nd and 15th now in the warmup. FT one time?
Obviously, 100% of the blame lies with Into Infinity for his comments in yesterday's blog! I've used extensive research over the past 5 seconds to prove this fact. A paper will be published in Scientific American February 2009 issue.
Ok kidding aside though it was just standard cooler / bad beat city during the first session of the day (-4.5bis), coupled with life tilt from my involvement in the PT3 scamming debacle here. It's never easy when someone you decided to trust turns out to have been unworthy of any good will. =( I suppose he will take please in reading my confession of him getting to my head perhaps, but I do think letting it spill out is better for my mental wellbeing . It truly shook my conscience(not sure if that's the right word) that I decided to dismiss all the negative impressions of him from being on TL and give him the benefit of the doubt, and in the end I was in a sense betrayed (esp since he immediately tried to scam me as well via msn).
Thanks again to the scam victims for providing me with their correspondence with said lowlife.
Poker wise, proper table selection and being aggressive preflop, total nit postflop is the goal, which I did pretty well in session 2 imo. Well, time to get a good night's rest and hit the ground running tomorrow. Bottom line is, if I play well I'm a winner, if I play poorly I'm a losing station + donk. Discipline imo.
edit: just went over my marked hands from today (which were prolly all the biggest losing hands anyways) and it definitely looks like I fire too many bullets and station it up with marginal holdings.
Preflop, I'm not sure how to deal with villains who 3bet around 9-12% (esp against my CO/BU steals), or alternatively steal from CO/BU/SB at like 40-50% frequency. =/
Advice welcome (read: plz halppp)
my gf and I just beat it tonight after about 45 hours of play. is that fast? got all 20 hearts, but only 3 bottles, 41 poes, and 14 bugs. That stupid bottle that you have to fish for messed us up. We also beat the final castle without getting the map, lolz. Oh and we took down the cave of ordeals on our first try, but we did wait till beating everything cept the twilight palace before trying. It was intense - we went in with 2 fairy's and 1 bottle of fairys tears, 600 rupees and magic armor - and when I beat the last knight I only had 1/2 of a heart left. talk about BARELY.
Paul Krugman's Op-Ed article from today's NYTimes tackles an issue that has been hotly debated here on LP. There are quite a few Americans on this forum that favor tax cuts and Reaganite supply side economics as a solution to our current economic situation and dismiss pre-bush tax levels as socialism, even though it's still low by our own historical levels and extremely low compared to other industrialized nations. I strongly disagree with that point of view and Krugman's article is totally spot on with my own opinion.
Here is an excerpt:
Next, write off anyone who asserts that it’s always better to cut taxes than to increase government spending because taxpayers, not bureaucrats, are the best judges of how to spend their money.
Here’s how to think about this argument: it implies that we should shut down the air traffic control system. After all, that system is paid for with fees on air tickets — and surely it would be better to let the flying public keep its money rather than hand it over to government bureaucrats. If that would mean lots of midair collisions, hey, stuff happens.
The point is that nobody really believes that a dollar of tax cuts is always better than a dollar of public spending. Meanwhile, it’s clear that when it comes to economic stimulus, public spending provides much more bang for the buck than tax cuts — and therefore costs less per job created (see the previous fraudulent argument) — because a large fraction of any tax cut will simply be saved.
This suggests that public spending rather than tax cuts should be the core of any stimulus plan. But rather than accept that implication, conservatives take refuge in a nonsensical argument against public spending in general.
Only had time to play 3 sessions since I was doing a lot of stuff this weekend (wish I had time to play more). First time went well, ended up even though I made a few stupid donk moves which I wasn't happy about. That was Friday night and it brought my roll to about 6.4k. Played the 2nd session yesterday afternoon and I ran bad and don't really think I was playing my A game. So I lost 3BI there and then quit because I had to go for dinner. BR = 5.8k.
Played the 3rd session today, but started with 100nl where I grinded back to buyins so I would have 6k for 200nl again. Ran well and played very well and was back to 6k. Then after dinner I played another 200nl session and it went good. Had one or 2 bad beats, but ended +ve. I was at a table with position on the biggest fish ever and he had an 800BB stack and was just running so hot. So I was just waiting for a hand but unfortunately some other bastard luckbox nit took most of his money. Didn't get a single penny from that fish It's okay, still up for the day. Made a couple of mistakes but overall playing pretty solid I think. One of my goals is to reach 10K bankroll in February which I think is very doable at the rate things are going. Just hold one time pls.
Just the nightly fifty. Usually there is about 90-100 fighting it out but only 63 of us tonight. Heads-Up battle was Ez guy was letting me take his BB every single time with the min-raise and folding 50% of his buttons to me for free <3. That's all /endhappy.
I remember about 1 year ago @ NL100 3betting was pretty rare and overall similar to NL50. The people who did 3bet a bit more were usually regs or maniacs. I remember beating NL100 at that time without ever making a single 4bet bluff or putting someone on a 4bet bluff. Basically a 4bet was the nuts. 3bets were usually strong and rarely bluffs. At least that's how I saw it and remember it.
Then I got HEM. At that point nearly all regs were using PT2 + PAHUD so I gained a quick advantage. The most major one - I got a 3bet stat, which is something the regs using PT2 didn't have. Till then I'd been taking notes on people and recording every time they 3bet and what position they did it from and a bunch of other shit. Then when I got 3bet I'd look in their notes to see how often it had happened. That was a pain in the ass to do. Now I had a 3bet stat on HEM and as I learned what was a high % and what was a low one, I started 4betting light.
Untill PT3 came out most people I knew were using PT2 + PAHUD and they had no idea that HEM had a 3bet stat. Then PT3 launched and lots of people upgraded and finally, all the regs had a 3bet stat. I think this had a huge affect on the games. (Also, on a kinda funny side note, I think a lot of people realized how much more stuff they could use that the old PT2 + PAHUD setup didn't give em, and when PT3 came out and sucked lots of people tried out HEM and that's what got HEM so popular.)
Anyway, ever since all the regs got a 3bet stat 4betting light has become huge. 3betting light has gone up like crazy too. Now regs @ NL100 will 3bet/4bet light all the time. It's funny cause sometimes I drop to NL50 for a stress free session and if I run into a NL100 reg down there we go right into the same old 3bet/4bet game.
I might be wrong but that's my view on what happened. I think when PT3 came out it totally changed the dynamic of reg vs reg on NL100 for sure, maybe even NL50, and things have gotten much weirder and crazier. Sakisaki was reviewing one of my sessions and we saw a like 17/14 nit reg 5bet shove on the button vs my cutoff 3bet and he had K8s. We were both surprised to see it from such a nit but it just goes to show that reg on reg has totally changed and I think it's cause of that damn 3bet stat. Fucking PT3 ruining it for those of us who had HEM first!
Oh well =)
On another note, I had my first big session in forever and won 5 BI over about 800 hands. Still wanna play at least 2 more times today so that's plenty of time to lose it all. But if I manage to keep winning I could finally break 5k. I'm at 4.9k right now and my plan for the week is to do NL100 only till friday, at which point I'll consider adding in some NL200 tables if I'm up to it. If I run well I could be close to 6k by Friday so that would pwn. Gonna hope that happens =)

Hey, I still have £72.16 left from the £250 gift certificate on amazon.co.uk. Is any1 interested in any items, ill be able to get them sent to your house?
Fuck this I feel I only win at poker because I run good, and I just keep spewing money and tilting. blah. I'm going to take next 5 days off playing and review my play a little, probably watch cr videos too, but I kinda feel most of my losses come from retarded tilt inspired bluffs or spots where I know Iam beat my hands absolute strenght is just soo goood. Maybe reviewing helps to that, crvids probably wont. Well, whatever at least I won 12bigblinds/100 this month and made 3x better hourly rate than at any regular job avaible for student so I shouldnt be too depressed (but I am because I play bad). So heres a graph:
