anyone know a decent resource or any personal experience/advice in the area of finding mathematics related jobs?

i have a bachelor of science under Mathematics from a canadian university and now i think i want a job, but i dont know the first thing about where to start looking, but i hear you can get neato jobs working at low rank jobs in hedge funds and stuff, or do i need further education, or what?

i was just hoping cause i know theres some mathy guys around here some of you might have a clue, but.. yeah. i suck :D

Down $450 in EV over 4.5k hands, and that' doesn't factor in coolers. I hate when the tables are so juicy but the fish always suck out. Such a tease.

At least I got a lot of FPP.

Why can't I ever hit a heater on these types of days? A heater would have been awesome.

Oh well, will probably give it one more shot later tonight now that the superbowl is over and catch some drunks. Not like that matters - it's been fish central all day and finding bad players has not been the problem, having hands hold up is.

I made the switch over to NL mid way through the month and its going great and Im really enjoying myself. Im playing NL 5 and these games are a serious joke. I cant believe some of the hands people are shipping it to the middle with. Here is my graph so far:

Pretty much rocking the games right now... ez money. I should be able to move up to NL 10 by the end of this week if I put in the hands. I dont have a really busy week after tomorrow so this should be easily reachable. Hopefully along the way I can clear this bonus Ive been working on forever lol.

Ive been watching a lot of DC videos the last days and they are helping me a ton. I used to have a CR membership and I have to say DC blows CR out of the water. There videos are so much better and there instructors do a great job getting the points they want to show out there. Im for sure going to be keeping my membership for a while.

Alright so onsto the Non poker stuff. Last night a good friend of mine had a going away party. She is leaving next week to go to school in Australia for 6 months. What an oppurtunity shes got there. I would take this up in a second. The party was actually pretty weak sadly though. I got there pretty late and people were actually kinda bored. We all decided to go out to a bar. We went to this bar called Chillis. Great bar. They always have a sick band in the basement. The fucking place ran out of coat check by the time we got there so I was stuck lugging my coat around all night. Weak. No real stories though sadly. Just another good night out drinking. It was nice to see some people I havnet seen in a while.

Who saw the GSP vs Penn fight? I watched it this morning and was so happy to see GSP fucking smash Penn. Penn got fucking demolished. Penn isnt even in GSPs league anymore. I mean it was just total dominance. Even if Penn would have gone out for the 5th round he would have for sure had to knock out GSP to win and that clearly was not happening. Penn just looked like a little butter ball in the ring and his "legendary gaurd" was passed with ease by GSP. I really dont think there is anyone out there right now that can beat GSP. Hes going to be holding that title for a long time imo.

STEEEEEEEELEEEEEERRRRRRSSSSSS! I was planning on going over to my buddies place to watch the game but when I got back here in London I passed out and when I woke up the game had already started lol. I wanted Pittsburgh to win this game but I took Arizona on my proline because the odds were so good. I also took Montreal to beat Boston but that fucked me before the superbowl even started so my ticket was shattered. But yea Pittsburgh is just a way better team compared to Arizona. What a catch that buddy made there to win the game. The fact that he was able to keep his feet inbounds and actually catch the ball when Arizona had 3 guys over there is crazy. They for sure deserved it and Im glad to see them win.

Tomorrow Im in for such a shitty day. I have 2 tests on Tuesday that I have to cram for big time. Ugh. Might even be an all nighter. I think actually that I might be fucked for my Physics test because my teacher is a complete clown and doesnt explain concepts for shit. Gonna have to teach myself this time... wish me luck. I dotn have class until 12:00 tomorrow so I think I might try a donkament tonight. Havent played one in a while.

January:

January was a month where I really didn't care how well I was playing most days, and occasionally find a day where I took seriously and actually attempt to make money. There were many times where I would insta-shove 27o just for comedic value. I still ended up in the profit for the month so I can't complain. I decided from now on I shall no longer play like a complete idiot unless I move back down to 1c/2c where the most I can lose is $5.

Since I decided to stop fucking around by shoving 27o for comedic value, and I want to take poker seriously, and see how far it takes me, I was able to pull off my very first $100 day. I was up to ~$160 but I ran AA into Q9o where he hits 2 pair on river. Then I spewed a little bit of money, and quit the day while I still had a $100 day. I'm pretty happy about it. Hopefully I can make my first $1,000 month.

So I had a nice little bender, drinking/partying Friday evening-Sunday morning, had a lot of fun. Took Saturday off of poker to refresh for the new month . I woke up feeling surprisingly not-hung over and so it was an ideal time to being the new month in poker!

I loaded up some nl100 as I think Superbowl Sunday is as good of a time as any to take a shot at the next limit and sure enough there were plenty of fishies abounding! And I ran pretty good (even if I am a BI below expectation : )). I think I played pretty reasonably overall.

I recorded 1h 45m of my nl100 shot for the leakfinders video Myth is going to do on me for CR. I hope the footage is good and he can make a good video for everyone and I ^^. Ofc the raw video is somehow 3.45GIGS???? and is going to take 16more hours to upload LAWL !

I also have a sick $1030 worth of bonuses to unlock-- the site I'm playing at had a $1000 reload bonus or free $100 bonus if you don't redeposit.. My money money is still pending from cakepoker so I could only get $100 more instead of $1000 more bonus

Had supfoolio on a hand like JTc or KJc, and the random on something dumb like AXo. I was wrong about supfoolio but I think it was still the right fold.

Was almost scared on river (obviously not folding tho), but him holding a heart draw made no sense.

Other hands were just me winning flips and flopping sets then busting aces. Lost some medium sized pots to shorties but that's standard. A good start to february altogether.

Okay so today i played maybe 30 sngs or so and i played absolutely brilliant imo
I did all the stuff that i learned from DC and leggo and i was literaly owning every opponent

unfortunately FTP is rigged and i lost close to 100% of my 80-20 + 70-30 flop or preflop all ins in all the big pots
rofl ....

so i decided to buy a FTP T-shirt from FPP and gg the site ^^ and concentrate on Pokerstars again.
I feel ready to rejoin Nl100 HU on stars
@ night ^^ I said i will rejoin as soon as i feel ready again ^^

I played ~ 140 HU sngs from 5+25 / 10+0.5 20+1 and finally 50+2.5 to 80.4
I noticed how i did get back in shape and played my A game.
Today i played really good imo

So time to get things going again

I can summarize it one word: horrible.
I ran pretty bad, I played bad, I tilted (like one of the first times in a very long time), I played NL400 (in the end) when I shouldnt have. Well - its been the worst month so far for me. I only got in around 20k hands too.


Results from the different games:
NL 600-1000: 500$
NL400: -3200$
NL200: +900$
HU (NL200-400): -1700$
PLO (100): -600$
Live NLH: +12k SEK
Result after RB: around -2k$


So, what have I learned?
* Not to play HU - except against hugh fish. 6-max is my game.
* To play PLO at the 50$ level until I know the game. Even if most of the lost pots were standard I guess I dont have an edge the first time I try it...
* Not to tilt at NL400 when I´m not rolled for it. Especially not against the best regs on a friday night - they own me so hard!
* To be agressive. It pays of. (old truth I know but I realize it more and more)
* Casinoplayers are bad at poker.
* A pair is good against dusty even in a 1750bb pot


I am looking forward to february now. I hope I can have a decent winning month so I can start playing NL400 again - I miss those aggressive games! I learn so much and I think I have an edge if I tableselect some.

I woke up this morning constantly thinking about PAHUD..IDK why, I think it was in my dream last night or something

So i start troubleshooting my PAHUD cuz I haven't used it in well over a year, and come to finally found out that its just not compatible with PT3, so I got my PT2 reinstalled and now I'm playing with stats again.

This is so refreshing and takes alot of the guessing out of the game (approx ranges ppl should have, but this narrows the ranges so much...I was convinced PAHUD was hurting my game before, and maybe that was the case then, but now its so uber helpful, thank god I'm using it again :-)

So, my goals for December were:

- Play NL400 6max
- Study alot for 2 exams
- No preset # of hands, just play when I feel like it
- Watch alot of vids, maybe do some coaching sessions

In the end I played 20k hands, did study alot but still didn't do to well so that sucks. Didn't watch any vids, did play mostly NL400 (18k hands) and at least I have a winrate over those hands. Even ran 1.6k under EV or something.

Februari goals are:

- Play at least 35k hands
- Keep winning on NL400
- Make more notes on opponents and tune up agression postflop
