NL50 / Tournaments by NeillyJQ, February 23

Wee, finally strung together a few winnings sessions at nl50 after addressing some serious leaks I had.

I put in a 75 minute session this morning for a few bi (started pretty ul, but the cards evened out and I won a few big pots by the end of the session)

I'm starting to feel very comfortable at NL50 and expect/hope to be able to pull atleast 2bb/100+ (I play 16-24 tables mostly) there until I reach NL100

Ok, some tournament information, first off I'm allowing myself to play all MTT's again.

I'll be taking some precautions though, such as;

Say for instance, if I win $13,000, I'm not going to go into NL200, I'm going to continue to grind up the limits til im +20bi and have atleast 25,000 hand sample size on each limit before moving up, so I know I can beat the limit if need be anytime in the future
*just preparations and aspirations*

For my MTT days, I will be either devoting a whole day to them (up to 10% bankroll investment in entry fees monday-saturday : except sundays where I'm staked for and have a set amount to play MTT's on), or playing 1-4 bigger tournies later in the day. I'll be playing mtt's on Sundays and 1-2 days out of the week.

hrm, so im just about back in the green at The Fitty, inching closer to NL100 and hope to be there soon.

so im pretty stoned, gonna chill for a bit and play some more cash later or maybe a few mtt's

(btw this now revokes what i said that i would give $25 to any player who spots me playing mtt's months ago, theres no reason for me not to play mtt's and i've been learning a ton, and am 100% confident in my bankroll management now)

GL LP,
Ryan

Day 5 by ayreon, February 23

Hey, couldn't play to much today but I did squeeze a hour session in, just going to post a few hands from it then heading to class. Hopefully I can squeeze a 2 hour session in later tonight.

+ Show Spoiler +

Was a c-bet okay here?

+ Show Spoiler +

The hand before this one I raised AQs 8bb and had no callers so I figured villain might think I am just trying to win extremely small pots but he only came up on one hand when I checked hand list and thought it was possible that he was holding a K. Did I give him too much credit or was my evaluation sound?

Thanks

More laptop beats by Night2o1, February 23

So since it seems pretty hopeless that I'll be able to connect to poker networks (or anything outside of firefox or IE) at school, I went to the local 'outdoor mall' about 8 minutes from campus. I figured I'd just buy a coffee or sandwich and play off of the free Wifi these cafes have.

Here I am, managed to connect and am sitting at tables and everything. Of course.. their internet is really slow. I am constantly disconnecting from tables and I think it is pretty much unplayable.. I just disconnect folded AA in a pretty good spot, for instance. That was awesome.

This really sucks I guess I will keep an eye out for an independent cafe, since this one's network is shared with all of the other mall cafes.

FOOOOOOOOK!!!!

time to slow down by ciachooooo, February 23

yay, there was a moment 2-3 days ago, when i was like "well, finaly after few k of hands i feel nl100 isn't problem, regs are not as good as i thought", but the last 2 days happen after it...
yesterday = -4bi coolered and bb for so many fckin bins (over3k hands)
today = 1k hands and.... -5bi
also lost flips, got coolered, and hit a bad beat, but after it i started playing so bad i'm not sure about most basics plays and make terrible mistakes, really terrible

i guess i stop playing poker untill wednesday, gonna play nl50 to regain confidence, and after few days will be back at nl100

at least i'm not in red, and i know i made few mistakes, so if i keep playing max 6 tables at same time, not 7-8 like i started after 5k hands, it shouldn't be a big problem to have winning march without coming back to nl50

graph or didn't happen:

hands:

1)+ Show Spoiler +

opponent was unknown, do you play it same way?
limp/minraise usually means big hand, but he gives me great odds on both flop and river, he didn't bet turn, so i should have him beat some % of time and these are ez calls both flop and riv?
27.5 pot on flop
53.5 pot on river
results: + Show Spoiler +

2) + Show Spoiler +

37/16/4
he seemed fishy, when he cold called 3bet oop i put him on 99-tt, and maybe aa, but when he minbet turn after few seconds of thinking before calling flop it looked rather like form of blocking bet, i thought fish won't be smart enough to cold call 3bet oop to trap, minbet to induce bluff etc, so i decided to push for value

results + Show Spoiler +

3) + Show Spoiler +

27/16 10%3bet
i just called, because 4betting here looks superstrong, and i think he's folding everything accept for aa,kk, maybe ak but i don't know, while his 3betting range is wide, so i thought i would just call (good spot for 4bet bluffing with t8s, isn't it?). i decided to bet flop/fold flop, or give up if called, but right now i don't think it's best way to play it, i don't feel like it is. prolly should have bet li 17-18, or maybe check behind flop to induce bluff, and call one street, fold if he bets both turn and river?

or if i have problems with such spots its better to just 4bet, get it in pf?

4)+ Show Spoiler +

40/11 over 40hands

do you like my line? small bet on flop as the board is paired, and only draw is fd, check/raise turn as i would do with 9/overpair
does it look as strong as i wanted, so he can continue only with big hands?
or should i give up on turn and check/fold it?
i thought he would float ton on this flop, and can continue with small pp on turn, but not to my ch/r

results: + Show Spoiler +

5) + Show Spoiler +

opponent is unknown, what are our plans here? bet/fold, bet/get it if raised, bet/call and check/call riv, bet/call and check/fold? maybe check/call to give him chance to bluff?
small pot, common spot, but not sure about

6) + Show Spoiler +

18/14/3 fold to 3bet 67% but small sample, about 100 hands
also common spot i'm not sure about

he raised utg, when he's tight, so i feel like if we 3bet we turn our hand into bluff (true?)
so i decided to call
and what on flop? he cbet flop 60% of time, do we check/call flop, check/fold blank turn? (it's the option i would choose)
is there any other option? check call 2 streets?
if he cbet like 75% is check/raising good here?

7) + Show Spoiler +

oryginal raiser is reg tag,so the caller is, i decided to call here his utg raise from time to time so i get value if he has kq,aq,aj,ats and we both hit
should i bet here if checked to me? if i bet here, i should bet any q and j turn right?
or do you prefer checking behind?
or check/slow down unless i hit k or a?
or just bomb any turn?

or you prefer 3beting here pf all the time? (i try to mix it)

8) + Show Spoiler +

21/18/8(!)
what to do?!
i think his range here is really wide, sets, so many tens, fd, and probably bluffs, but if i call i think i have to check/fold turn most of time, and there are so many scare cards

is it clear bet/fold? or as he is so agro should i check/call flop?

9) + Show Spoiler +

opponent was unknown (yeah despite the stack sizes it was our 6th hand)

what are your bet sizes?
do you 3bet more pf?
i bet like 75% of pot on flop turn, riv, it should be a lil more, so we're getting all in on riv, right? (yeah i know they should be)
general question: raise to how much pf?
betting like 90% of pot is perfect?

fuck i'm posting so basic hand, but made so basic mistakes

OMG i forgot to post tits for Dusty!

Wednesday is Electronics. Meh... no one really knows what the mid term is on cuz our teacher is a clown
Thursday is Power Applications. Could go either way.
Friday is drink until you throw up day.

Bleh. by ConquistadoR, February 23

So right now I didnt play much until last time i posted, mostly because when I dont win I tend to lose motivation very fast, and because I started off so bad at NL10 I didnt really have much motivation to play during the last few days.

I donked off a shitload though in random tournaments and all, so now I will stop playing tourneys completely until I got a 2000$ br.

Today, I started playing a little bit NL10 and I ran bad as usual, but still managed to make a small profit. Well, im still down totally on this limit and it would probably be more profitable to play NL5 but I just want to beat every limit again, so Im gonna stay here, and hope my luck turns around. But I also noticed that my non sd-winnings are really bad on NL10, and on NL2 and 5 they were always break even, I guess ppl are playing back more here or something and not folding to cbets a lot, dunno.

Aight here are some graphs.
Today :

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/8610/nl10.png
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/nl10.png/1/w1104.png

Need to get my grinding motivation back, because I dont want to waste time on this shitty limit anymore, just want to make my 20 buyins here, and then move up.

GL anybody

weekend by Zalfor, February 23

so after flying back from new york i decided to 12 table some nl25 to rebuild some of my roll.
i went on a nice heater and made some good calls as well (also few failed bluffs)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/2baeac3261eb9a23ccb27596cf8a21df.png

hopefully if i get another 500 i'll go to nl50. I have over 1k in my BR now, but I really need to practice BR management so i'm going to wait till 1.5k maybe even 2k to go to nl50. (plus my gaming restriction is still on).

wish me luck!

Pleasant Suprise by veryGUd, February 23

I'm trying to build my roll back up and played a bunch of SNGs like I used to back in the day. I forgot that pokerstars has this battle of the planets SNG leaderboard deal. Anyways I got 12th in the low orbit and 6th in the high orbit for the $5-9.99 division and got 40 and 100 dollars respectively. Also by getting top 10 I get entered in a 50K triple shootout freeroll. I may be wrong i think triple shootouts start with 81 which means 729 players. So its basically like a free 68 dollar buyin. Except there is no way it will have that many players IMO cause people will forget/ it won't get that full. So basically free money from pokerstars.

NL25 session vid by vlseph, February 23

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZTIYIH0K
(if you're trying to dl it right after I post this, I think the link isn't actually available til a couple minutes-hours later)

I uploaded a video on my play on NL25.
I two table and I think it's about 72 minutes, but I compressed the file so it's like 100 mb smaller.

If anyone would like to watch it and post some advice or leak fixes or just random comments, just post it.
Or maybe you're from a lower stake and you just want to see what NL25 is like or want to see how another player thinks.

I think Night did this and after some advice it seemed like he's just on a mega boom switch so maybe it'll help me? I'm life time 3.57bb/100 on NL25 and I always seem to get soul crushed at NL50 and I've been on small downswing on 25 for the month.

Also just recorded it to show some friends how I play who are still on micros, and watch my play in retrospect and maybe catch something like "Oh, what a terrible play, what was I thinking?"

But yeah whatever I don't remember any hands in particular since I finished my hand like a couple hours ago and I've been watching The Office, but I guess I can update tomorrow or whenever I watch my own session.

edit: 6max
I might do a 4 table video later on but I wanted to do only 2 on my first video to get used to everything and see if the pace is okay. I think I can do 4.

edit 2: I watched over the video and there weren't many big decisions, tough spots, or interesting situations. I'll make a 4 table session soon and hopefully they'll come up.

Updates - Doomswitched by edzwoo, February 23

Haven't posted my sessions or graphs recently, so I'll post some epic fail:

Recent sessions, last one being NL50:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/54a8aceb2af7405534b6cfdf90adfd99.jpg

Lifetime:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f4f1fd0ff9e9859e42bc33529b974593.jpg

I don't know what's going on. I am running spectacularly under EV, but I'm not sure if that's all that's happening or I just opened up like 10 leaks without realizing it.

I'm pretty sure I'm playing winning poker, but how can I drop like half my roll in 15k hands? Standard variance or am I doing something wrong?

Confidence at an all time low.

NL50 lifer by RICHI8, February 23

I'll be at NL50 for the rest of my life. Or at least until Pokerstars it's time to stop donkey punching me. Minus 5 buyins in 622 hands. GG me.

Lost 3 buy ins in 300 hands. Took a break. Lost another 2 in 300 hands.

Why can't I run like god like everyone else (edit: besides edzwoo) here?

Random Update by fira, February 23

Finally got a hold of a screwdriver and opened up my computer case. Luckily I was able to recover most of what I needed from my old hard drive. Thank god I didn't have to find and DL those 10 gigs of music. Furthermore, I was able to recover the hands processed by PT! Here's a graph of how Feb's going:

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p99/ilovecatsmorethanyoulovecats/Feb2.jpg

I haven't played much because of the whole computer crisis but I'll try to squeeze in maybe 10k more in this last week. Not much of an update, just glad I could salvage my old hard disk.

NL200 and Feb so far by k2o4, February 23

So it's a very under EV month for me as you can see but somehow I've managed to win. I'd be a very happy panda if my dark green line and light green line were swapped =) The NL200 shot is going well so far but I'm a bit worried about how things will go starting Monday when the fish dry up. I've been able to do good table selection and find fish this weekend, but it will be back to a nitfest on Monday which is not appealing. My BR hit 7k tonight so that's nice, so I'm up 1.1k since starting NL200. I've done a little bit of NL100 in there too. Anyway here's how the month looks:

Feb so far:
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//General-2-22-09-All-Feb.jpg

http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//Graph-2-22-09-All-Dollars-Month.jpg

Got over my fear and feel pretty good while playing NL200. Technically I'm running below EV but it feels like I'm running good cause in comparison to earlier this month where I couldn't win a single flip and was always sucked out on, this is like a heater. Let me run close to even and I can make money.

Also trying out tableninja which works pretty well. Only problem is that it lags a bit. It's kinda good cause I am only playing 6-8 tables and if I try to do more it will be too laggy. So it's like a deterent from mass tabling which is really good cause I'm at the point where I notice a huge drop in my game if I have more than 8 tables going. Finally I know enough things to look for and learn from hands I'm not in and have so many notes I like to take and use later that if I can't do those things I play much worse.

At least I'm up @ NL200 for the month. I started really badly on Feb 1st losing several buyins in bad beats so I was in the hole before this shot, but I've dug myslef out. Lifetime I'm still down quite a bit @ NL200 cause I have taken so many fucking shots at it, failed, and moved down to regrind. So it's gonna be a bit longer before I'm up @ NL200 lifetime.

The biggest thing is that it's harder to grind out a shit load of hands right now so it's gonna take me longer to get bonuses than I'd like... I was hopeful to buy another 1.5k bonus by the end of the month but I've got a lot of FPP left to go. But this is gonna be much better itlr and the VPP do come quicker @ Nl200, so as I get more used to the limit so that I can 8 table consistently and don't have fear holding me back and limiting the # of hands I play then I'll start building up FPP really fast.

I'm totally rambling. I guess that's ok since this is my blog! That's what blogs are for right?

I'm enjoying poker a lot right now and am excited to hit 10k, which is the BR I want before I will feel safe to make a living off of poker. Right now I'm working 2 days a week for a very small wage so poker is gonna be a major source of income going forward. I was looking and I've played a little over 600k hands lifetime. I really think there's a lot that you learn just by playing a lot of hands which can't be learned any other way. I don't know that much more about poker strategy now, I just understand it and can apply it so much better now. You also get to experience big heaters and big downswings and develop a much soberer view of what the long run really is. When I first moved to NL100 I heatered like crazy and had a 50 bi month and started taking NL200 shots after only like 20k hand of NL100, thinking I was so good. Once the heater ended I crashed hard and fell into a serious tilt. That was a dark time. Since then I've had some small heaters and other solid downswings and each one is easier to deal with. I know I will always have a hard time fighting the downswings and beats, but it's a lot easier now than it ever was before. There's a big difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it. I always knew what to do about downswings but had a hard time doing it - taking breaks, moving down sooner, staying in a good mind frame, blah blah.

Ok, enough rambling for now!
