Wee, finally strung together a few winnings sessions at nl50 after addressing some serious leaks I had.
I put in a 75 minute session this morning for a few bi (started pretty ul, but the cards evened out and I won a few big pots by the end of the session)
I'm starting to feel very comfortable at NL50 and expect/hope to be able to pull atleast 2bb/100+ (I play 16-24 tables mostly) there until I reach NL100
Ok, some tournament information, first off I'm allowing myself to play all MTT's again.
I'll be taking some precautions though, such as;
Say for instance, if I win $13,000, I'm not going to go into NL200, I'm going to continue to grind up the limits til im +20bi and have atleast 25,000 hand sample size on each limit before moving up, so I know I can beat the limit if need be anytime in the future
*just preparations and aspirations*
For my MTT days, I will be either devoting a whole day to them (up to 10% bankroll investment in entry fees monday-saturday : except sundays where I'm staked for and have a set amount to play MTT's on), or playing 1-4 bigger tournies later in the day. I'll be playing mtt's on Sundays and 1-2 days out of the week.
hrm, so im just about back in the green at The Fitty, inching closer to NL100 and hope to be there soon.
so im pretty stoned, gonna chill for a bit and play some more cash later or maybe a few mtt's
(btw this now revokes what i said that i would give $25 to any player who spots me playing mtt's months ago, theres no reason for me not to play mtt's and i've been learning a ton, and am 100% confident in my bankroll management now)
GL LP,
Ryan

i think mtts are more inclined to make you tilt esp if you're allowing yourself to throw 10% of your bankroll around and after one good day at them you should still not be so ancy to jump into them |

im not the same as you crown, when i have a small br (less than 1k) then i tend to tilt if i lose, but i def proved to myself yesterday i won't be tilting in MTT's with a larger roll (over 2k) (since it doesn't matter if i win nearly as much as it does shortrolled)
i mean, i coulda won 210k in the mil and 130k in the warmup and 100k in the turbo takedown, but I won a g, 1/400th of the potential winnings I could have won and it didn't affect me at all.
meh, no need to defend myself, im doing it cuz its +ev and cuz the fields are soft enough where I should pull a nice profit itlr, and the sundays are just sick
best case scenario i win a nice tournament or more and build a sick bankroll, worse case scenario i dust some money in MTT's which are profit
win/win imo
just needed to make a post about it because i promised ppl $25 a while back if i was caught playing a MTT when I was back on NL10 or NL25, to keep me on track and not risk a buy-in or two in a tournament. Now I can play 4-5 good tournaments ($11 / $5 / $3r etc) for 1 buy-in, which makes it way less tilting
I have 67+ NL50 bi right now
and if I tilt, I'll do my best to stop playing asap or stay logical. I am not saying I never tilt, but after years of playing with your roll on the line, you learn to stay in control pretty well. I went through my PT3 of the year and I've had 3 tilted sessions in 52 sessions, which I need to improve on, and found that all those sessions were over 5+ hours, which is why I'm playing 90 minute sessions now
thats my life story! |

how could you possibly be upset at what you won??? you won more than your bankroll in a day and now you're a part time mtt pro?
I got 50th or something in the warmup once too and i felt like i won the thing because it was equal to my bankroll at the time.
(I got in from fpps though) |

Few things I noticed
1) You're much more realistic about bb/100 now as you finally said 2ptbb/100! bravo =)
2) 25k hands isn't enough to know that you beat a limit. You need at least 100k hand winning sample and sometimes even that could be due to a big heater. But for lower limits (NL10 - NL2) that isn't as big of a deal. Probably the same on NL25. But NL50 is probably the first limit you will play where the 100k hand sample probably makes sense, especially with the way NL50 can play like NL100 sometimes cause a lot of regs drop down. Fucking games getting harder T_T
Also, with your style of play winning 20 buyins or winning over 25k hands could easily be a heater. When you run good you make crazy money, when you run bad you lose crazy money. In the long run you even out. I think you probably need a longer long run than most people to see if you're really beating a limit.
3) GL on the tournies. You seem to do well in them. I have a feeling you're gonna win a big one sometime in the next few months and if I were you I'd definitely keep doing them, though I think you might be better off focusing on just doing cash except for sundays where you can play the big tournies off of a stake.
stick to br management like you have been. but remember to set aside a LOT of BR for MTT's cause that shit has some high variance. |
