Brag: Iron Maiden by byrnesam, February 25

http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/774/ironmaidenlogo.jpg

So I went to see Iron Maiden at Mt Smart in Auckland last week. It rained all day but that only made me rock out harder. The set was fucking amazing and included the epic 13 minute "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and also all 8 minutes of ear shredding "Phantom of the Opera" and all the other ones I wanted to hear (Hallow, FotD, Evil that Men Do, Trooper, Run to the hills etc.)

They opened with Aces High and i forgot how good that song was. I nearly had a fit when the guitars kicked in and they all sprinted on stage.

They won best live act at the Brit Awards too.

Bruce Dickinson is the sickest front man ever.

Lauren Harris is a certificed hottie, but not very good at singing. I made eye contact with her during her act and im pretty sure she fancied me - so Lauren, if youre reading this send me a PM and ill take you out to dinner.

If you ever get an opportunity to go and see Maiden, take it. Heres a couple of pics i managed to snap during the concert.

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2154/maidengig1.jpg
Crowd from up high during Phantom of the Opera. I had to go up top and get a drink after being at the front coz i thought i was gonna die (It was during Wrathchild and i dont care much for that song). It looked so awesome seeing the crowd from up there.

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/4791/maidengig2.jpg
Giant cyborg-Eddie took to the stage and fought with the band members. That guy in the suit probably has the best job in the word.

Other notes:
-Janicks stage antics are awesome.
-Nickos drum kit is so big you cant see him.
-Its an honour to have been shot by Steve Harris' bass.
-Guy who got on stage, ran a lap and dived back into the crowd before security got him has an ultra brag on his hands.

That is all for now. I have some Photoshops to post at some time. Not many though. Peace.

So Pathetic by OpWestAcct, February 25

I am not going to post my graph cause it looks exactly the same as my NL 50 graph in recent blogs. I seriously swear to God that I cannot FUCKING RUN GOOD FOR MORE THAN A FEW FUCKING DAYS. Today - ATLEAST 70% of the time my AA was called - it was beaten. For instance I finally got into a good spot vs an aggro retard in a 3 bet pot (which he called with KJo by the way) - I check flop and he bets with TPGK I smooth and of course another jack on the river. Why the FUCK DO I HAVE TO BE FUCKING DOOMED. Jesus Christ please give me a break.

Noooooooooooooooooo by Night2o1, February 25

A normal day instead of a heater

I wonder if the glorious heater is over!

Ran standard-bad today, got nailed with a 3outter 'n such, nothing getting paid off. Not too horrible since I'm only down 2.3BI. Lost some $ at 1/2 to beats as well, can't complain too much tbh..

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/23141ad6551b300020c7aeb15276effa.jpg

Played way fewer hands than I hoped to today, I really desperately need to get my sleep schedule on-point so I feel better. I can play more poker during daytime hours since cake is dead at night, and I can get myself back in the gym.

No idea why, but my ex (who's been my ex for a long time now) has been figuring very, very prominently in my thoughts the last ~2? days and its bothering me a lot. I'll get over it etcetc just can't let myself start feeling depressed or something.. Kills like every aspect of my life :O

wel helo der variance by k2o4, February 25

/rant on

Not much to say. I was running hot in the sense that I wasn't being coolered more than 1 time a session and I wasn't coolering anyone else for a few days. Then last night the poker gods decided to shit on me some more and in the last 1,000 hands of NL200 I've had 6 sick cooler/beats like flush over flush, KK losing to JJ and blah blah. No need to list specifics, we all know how it goes. Decided to play some NL50 HU since things weren't going so well at 6max and it was pretty hilarious. I got it AI on the flop 3 times vs 3 different people when I had TpTk or better and they had a flush draw, and all 3 hit their flush. lolz. It was pretty unbelievable to see it happen 3 times in a row, and of course after each time the guy who sucked out would leave the table asaply, hahaha.

I still am rolled for NL200 but no reason to play it while I'm running like shit, so I won't be playing anymore NL200 till the bad run is over. I figure NL50 HU and NL100 6max will be good enough for now. That's what I did earlier this month when none of my hands held up so I'll do it again =)

The only comforting thing is that I am playing really well @ NL200 and feel very comfortable in terms of skill. Just not totally comfortable in terms of BR. I think I'll need to hit at least 8k before I feel really solid and this type of BS won't bug me. I'd probably be creeping up on 9k right now if it wasn't for all the bad beats! odam.

/rant off

in da butt by Uptown, February 25

That's how I feel after getting mass coolered @ the very end after getting myself unstuck

Definitely being exploited to oblivion by both regs and fish... and I haven't the slightest clue how to adjust. I know the have air but I have air and I can't press the raise button, though that may be a blessing in disguise tbh...

Yup, this is nothing but a rant blog b/c I can't even write down the leaks I need to fix... b/c I have no idea how to fix something along the lines of "if I cbet I get floated / raised, if I dont cbet I get bet into on flop or lead into on turn" and hence the plummenting redline. My cbet% was like 50% and success rate was an abysmal 30% or something. Variance? Perhaps. But this kind of thing is definitely a consistent theme in my sessions.... fuck.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/b37d4d7e9c4ead9cde5e3cbf21718b8e.jpg

For now obviously my interpretation is that I ran like crap and villains did have the goods, since this miniscule sample size tells me absolutely jack shit and I may create leaks by attempting to fix leaks that don't exist in the first place...

New quest by NewbSaibot, February 24

So a few weeks ago I started a blog on this site to chart my progress and thought patterns regarding playing a 5 buyin rule, where I move up every limit I am rolled 5 buyins for. I started at NL25, which I did alright at, but could never get past NL50. Learned a lot of hard lessons that I had already read about, but had to learn them for myself to actually sink in.

You can read more here -> http://www.liquidpoker.net/blog/viewblog.php?id=671959

It would be interesting for anybody to comment on my notes to see if I have some serious misconceptions or not. These notes were engineered around a focused 1-table game of 6max, where 100% attention could be given to each hand. I expect to formulate a whole new series of notes for my next quest since I will be playing quite differently.

Part of Daniel's system was to never move down limits, but rather drop his buyin requirement to always be playing 1/5 of his bankroll, even if that means buying in for the minimum. He commented that he feels the whole small ball strategy works really well as players calling tendencies have little to do with bet size as they do with automation, they are either calling or folding regardless so it really doesnt matter what you bet. So definitely bet the least possible to get yourself off the hook, and the most possible when you have a great hand.

So I just finished a FR session at NL50 buying in short stacked and unfortunately lost what little of my roll I had left sitting to the right of a 100vpip fish who just called my BTN shoves with air. Precisely 9To, J9s, and KTo. He paired up every time.

What I dont think Daniel realizes is just how insane MSNL really is today. He doesnt play MSNL, what few times he plays on stars he's usually playing much higher limits, or goofing around at NL50 and such, showing face, fullfilling his contract no doubt. Now that he is actually trying to beat these limits, I think he is in for a rude awakening and the horrible variance that will come, something Chris Ferguson was well aware of when he set out on a similar quest some time back.

I truly feel I have tried every trick in the book, bent every poker rule out there, read everyone's advice and tried to push the envelope and prove them wrong when it comes to the best way to approach this game. And I have truly realized how wrong I was. I thought I could come up with something on my own, my own style, something not really read about, but something that works for me, with good enough results that I can proudly sit back and say I taught myself the game. Wrong wrong wrong.

I will now take this $25 roll, sit down with 100BB's at NL2, and start putting in thousands of hands at FR, never moving up till I hit 20 buyins for the next level. If I fail here, well, I might re-roll myself with $40 and try again since I lack the experience grinding away for hours and shouldnt worry about failing at first. But I have certainly failed at enough other shots at this game to realize it's time I just OBEY THE POKER COMMUNITY.

bye stars, hello eurodonk by whamm!, February 24

moving out of stars and playing shorthanded somewhere else with rb or something similar, i think my luckbox here has ended after a year inspite of me still being in the green monthly here, just too many regs and solid players imo, table selection at 100nl and 200nl has become so much of a pain, and since i play a ton of tables, hasnt been that profitable as it could compared to other sites, might be playing some micro and still rebuild here slowly but def playing anything above 50nl somewhere else, concierge change didnt help much too. gl to me and to you guys, pls run better

2 Days , No Poker! by mrpav.com, February 24

Have a test on Thursday, and gatta take the 2 days off so i can read my textbook. Poker has been going great this month, have nothing to complain about. Hitting about 45k hands per month, which is not bad considering i'm at school for 32 hours. Been working out with my brother 4-5 days per week (not so much this week) and i'm seeing awesome results using the DC training. Out workout is posted below. Also been eating right and counting calories. I went from 218 pounds to 185 in 3 1/2 months. If anyone wants any advice on eating or working out send me a PM and i'll be more than happy to help you out. Take care and wish me luck on my test.

Random Thoughts feb 09 by spets1, February 24

Im not expert in the subject and maybe a little ignorant but here it is.

Financial Crisis 2008 in 2009 feb

People loosing their jobs at car manufacturing, banks, holiday agencies, construction.
Many large corporations going broke.

Car manufacturers - People probably already have enough cars for everyone. The technology is very good these days and cars have long lifetime. So most of the cars that are bought these days are bought by rich fucks and corporations that want to change their car every year. Hence now they are going broke they no longer buy cars?

The oil prices are falling so that's good i guess. What is the reason for this? If the oil is running out the price should be rising. Now peoples travel expenses are cheaper.

What else is bad? People still work at food/clothing industries. Market is still growing.

Banks - banks have been ripping every1 off for ages with their bullshit systems that fucks with everyone. So them going broke might actually be good cos people are fed up with their shit anyway. They might have to restructure the system for the better.

Some banks are so broke that the government may buy them out. They are saying on the news it would be bad if that happened. I don't see why. Is the government going to have too much power without competition that it can abuse the power and dictate the action? Can it be good? The money that banks generate from taxes goes straight into the government without benefiting middle man who is usually megarich. The money can be used more efficiently on the people, schools, roads, public transport, medicine, etc, etc. Or can it be abused too easily for it to work? I think cutting out the middle man is actually better. Nationalization of banks gets rid of some corporate bullshit.

Military operations

Why when a missile is said to have killed 8 civilians in Afganistan nobody talks about who the missile was aimed at? At soldiers? Some more important people in particular? Where is the explanation? Do they just shoot randomly and kill innocent civilians?
Was only 8 civillians killed and nobody else? Why such news are accepted by the people? Seems ridiculous to me. At least explain wtf ur doing.

Also are we facing propaganda right now? Not that we dont face it everyday anyway.
But wtf. There are so many programs on TV about Iran. There isnt any other country that is covered so much on TV. Is it to mentally prepare people for war? are they going to be invaded in the near future? I dont see so much news about any other countries that are also important. Why not show news about Arab Emirates and the way of life there? Why not show news say about Colombia? Why not South Africa or Bangladesh or Mongolia or Ethiopia for that matter?

Its BS I tell ya .

anyhoo leave a comment if you feel like it.

controlling tilt by traxamillion, February 24

So i start up a session for fun last night and just go on monster tilt for no real reason maybe i was hungry. Overbet river bluffshoving like 70 dollars into 10 dollar pot etc. at least i had moved down to do it but when you are 5bet shoving 7-2 pre for 200bb that is kind of a problem. So i said when i wake up this morning i will play 50nl to get unstuck on that bs and luckily i was able to do it in only 600+ hands.

New TV Splurge by JohnnyBologna, February 24

Time the find out what all the fuss is about with HDTV and BlU-ray and what not.

Gona upgrade my old 50in crt Tube to a new LCD TV. Been Researching like crazy and looking at prices like a hawk for the last 2 months and here is what I have ultimately come up with for the ULTIMATE home theater system. Feel free to leave any comments you like.

The TV - 65 Inch Sharp Aquos. pretty much dead set on this bad boy and am 99% sure that theres nothing else you can show me to make me change me mind. 65inch of raw power means My tv is gona be the biggest Lcd in the neighborhood unless someone imported one from japan or something. And only for 3 gs what a deal.
http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-Aquos-LC6...8&s=electronics&qid=1234797595&sr=8-1

Sound - Sony HtcT100 Sound Bar - Looks awesome and has decent sound without the mess of 5-7 speakers which is huge and again less tahn 300 bucks cant beat that. Also I dont need to spend an additional 500 bucks on some receiver because this one comes with one in the sub!
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HTCT100-So...&s=electronics&qid=1235514271&sr=8-1#

Movie player thing - Sony Blu Ray BDP s350 - best reviews for blu ray player. plays Dvd and just about everything else imaginable so yah pretty easy choice.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BDP-S350-1...&s=electronics&qid=1235515750&sr=1-1#

And thats it! Bada BIng Bada Boom I will have my movie theater at home.

Thing i like about it is its simplicity yet im getting all the bang for the buck.

Oh yeah little misc thing i will be getting is a universal controller to put 5 controllers in 1 http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Harmon...d=1235516631&sr=1-3#productPromotions

Day 6 by ayreon, February 24

The 2 hour session I played today was pretty slow. Didn't get to play that many hands and when I did get KK all the limpers folded. I do have a question though, say that you are EP first to act in the hand after the flop and you have a drawing hand like J10s and the flop comes KJ7 rainbow. Should you check and see what the other players do or should you lead out with a bet and then fold if re raised. I would guess that checking and then betting the next street if checks follow you and no significant card comes up is probably the better choice but I'd like to see your thoughts. Thanks!

Full Tilt Early Morning by Gadget, February 24

Hey, My girlfriend is leaving at 4am tomorrow morning and I was thinking about staying up after she leaves to get some hands in. I haven't played for more than maybe 30 minutes at a time while she has been here and I leave for a basketball road trip tommorow at 10am, which I can get about 5 hours of sleep in on the bus. So I am wondering if there will be 6 tables of nl 2 6 max being played at that time. I will make a progress update with a graph sometime tomorrow, right now I'm just wondering what kind of action there is at low stakes on full tilt at 5am. Thanks.
