I hit a massive downswing last year ($600 -> $100) when I took up HU sngs and sucked at them.

I've now come back to cash and my goal for this year is to become a winner at NL25.

I currently have $205 in my BR.

Steps to achieve my goal:
Grind NL5 to $300
Grind NL10 to $750
Grind NL25 for money (winrate of 2ptbb/100)

I'm going with a 30 buyin br management so I have less stress from coolers and I'm not playing scared money.

That's pretty much it, time to grind grind grind.

Today was a serious pain in the ass when it came to cards. Yesterday was just as bad. The last two days I was down about 7 BI's. Hands like this helped get me there quick:

Ill start with yesterday first. Nothing was going my way and I was something like 1 for 6 getting it All in with the best hand so it was getting very frustrating. Last night I was taking a break from playing and I was like... Im going to play some starcraft now. I actually wanted to play Warcraft 3 but I could only find my frozen throne disc so I went out and got Starcraft cuz it was cheap as hell and the store was out of Warcraft If It wasnt for Starcraft after some of the sessions Ive played in the last two days I think I might have tilted off WAY more lol. Sad thing is I still suck at SC too

Today started off pretty good for a little while. I got up quick but then just started getting rocked left and right. I couldnt believe it lol.

I actually started to play pretty bad because I was down so much. All I wanted was to get unstuck. It caused me to loose my agression a bit and I realized that about half way through and picked it up a bit. Things started to swing in my favour which was awesome.

Finally after 5 hrs of grinding it out on 9 tables I managed to get even for today. I played with Uptown a bit today. Its cool to play with LP guys once and a while. Uptown even tried to 4 bet bluff me out of the SB which was weird... really dont see that a lot at NL25 or maybe he just gave me credit for a monster which is possible too lol. Im still down about 3 buyins in the past two days but w/e Ill make that back by Sunday and then Im prolly going to be up 100k after I take down the Turbo Million.

I was going through some old folders today and found a few really old old old pics from WCG and my BW days. God those were very good times but they feel like ages ago. After looking at those pics again it makes me badly want to go to another WCG event and see all those guys (and gals) again. I went to the WCG USA finals in NYC and the WCG USA Open in Hollywood back when I was in my prime BW days. I wasn't there as a gamer, just as a reporter for GG.net. Here are some of the fun pics:

So first I cover the mindfuck:

Some weeks ago I saw a very elaborate dream about poker. When 12 tabling nl100 I was playing a regular who I had a lot of history in 3bet pots with and caught AA at cutoff. He 3bet me from blind and I 4bet to 25bb. He smooth called and openshoved on flop. In the dream I was like "hmm Iam probably beat (as you can see it was a dream), but I call anyway". Results werent displayed in my dream (see, Iam not results oriented even in my dreams!) but the dream caught to my mind because just a week earlier I had decided that I'll never 12 table 6max again, and also the regular of my dream was very familiar with me, but I hadnt played him ever at that time.

Well, obviously the title spoiled the story and everyone knows what happened next:

Today I was 12 tabling nl100 at party, when playing a regular who had just started playing there (or I started playing at the same times he was already playing) and with whom I have history of violence in 3bet pots got me into the exact spot of my dream. Now I got to know the end of the story too, he had called QJs oop and open shove 1.5x pot with top pair ooa

And yes, I understand that this all is almost certainly something that mind made up, and that I almost certainly never saw such dream and if I did the spot was nothing like that - I just remembered incorrectly - and if it was its a coincidence. However my head did explode a little bit :F

And now to the results:

Overall Iam really happy with how thing turned out. I had 28k hands breakeven strecth yet I still made 3,8 BB/100. The breakeven was mostly due to shitty play, I was really spewing hardcore. Then however I watched CR vid by nutedawg and understood that I can stop spewing! Christ how easy poker can be! Never before have I really been certain that I beat the games. Always there has been a little doubt: "what if I only run good? what if I only win 1bb/100 in reality? or if Iam losing player" but now Iam finally certain that I beat this level good, and soon I'll beat the next one too ^^ Its quite amazing what kind of difference one video can make but it was so nicely about what I'm doing wrong that it was like as if nutedawg had been couching me. LA LA LAA cant wait untill summer when I have more time and I can really start working on the nl 200 monkeys.

Also partypoker randomly gave me 450 bonus + rakeback for like another 400 so actual results are a little more than what graph displays.

So I sit down at the table. People come and the game beginns. Nebuchad or whatever his name is sits down at the table next to mine and talks to some big asian dude who apperently plays like 300/300 SEK PLO live and his friend who looks like someone out of a bad ganster movie, Italy style. They do some 3bets over in that corner and I've won like one small pot without sd but folded everything else pf. Big dude raises MP, Italydude reraises I think to myself that this is a sweet fucking spot for a cold 4bet with air, I look at my cards in the BB and have KK, so I guess I 4bet. I think that's a misstake for what it's worth 400bb deep oop, but whatever, he 5bets pretty quick to like 4k (blinds are 25/50 so that's a lot) and I call like the donk I am since I figure that he should be able to know that I can be light here. Flop comes a King, An Ace and a six with a fd and BAM I'm OUT!

and I had a small sidebet with Pinball for last longer.

Overall I'm happy though, now I've got time to visit my cousin tommorow.

stop playing .50/1 Plo and 15 dollar super turbos. You are losing a lot in them, plus you have solid results at .25/.50 plo and 7.5 super turbos not to mention these are not your best poker disciplines.

Today i got destroyed in those 2 forms for the turn of about 200. I had to get myself unstuck by getting 2nd in a $26 45 person for 270(used a token which i obtained for 6.9 ). I have done well mainly in satellites, $24 STTs, $12 plo stts, and $26 45 persons so I think I will try to focus those.

Also, bracket is doing ok, 95% on espn but Memphis's loss(had them in Final 4) and WVU's loss(E8) means my bracket's potential isn't that great. Hopefully, MSU just loses and I can beat Rikd .

I watch Starcraft leagues from time to time. I also play it but I love watching the Koreans. Then I saw a clip of some white dude who apparently played Starcraft. I googled "rekrul" but I got a bunch of stuff about poker. I tried again a few weeks later and realized that the dude I was searching for and the poker guy were the same. So cool.

After more searching I found out that many Starcraft players play poker and play well. I wondered if I might also love poker. I played it for fun maybe ten times in my life.

I started putting hours in, mostly searching for poker basics and theory. I wanted to learn winning poker. After awhile I started playing some freerolls to find out how bad or good I was. I still don't know...

I read a beginners guide on LP that felt right. It really helped. (I think?)

I took $50, put it in pokerstars, and hit the pennies. I went down to 30 back to 50 and down to 30 and back to about 45. Then I played a $2.20 sit and go and won it. This paragraph took place in the last five days.

So now I just withdrew out my initial deposit and I have $100 left. I don't really care about the money, I just want to crush everyone. How can I get better faster? Should I be playing one or two penny tables to learn more? Should I stick with six?(That's how many I've been doing.) How long(in hours) SHOULD it have taken me to turn my $50 into $200 playing the 1c/2c tables? Should I buy pokertracker? A book? I'd rather not invest any money from my personal account from now on if I can. How do I learn more? Do I just play 100,000 hands and absorb the basic situations and go "oh I've been here before, don't do what you did last time!"

Will anyone read this???

Just a quick update. March was going fucking great but I am currently ds'ing :[. Hopefully I can still maintain a 5 figure month. With that said, I'm not going to look at results for the rest of the month k2o4 style. GL me.

Seriously, today is prolly one of my worse day lifetime :/ meh -13 or -14 buy in in like 1700 hands i just can't manage my anger -______- i lost to a ton of 3 or 2 outters usually i just punch something away and i feel better but since it's night i dont wanna make too much noise =( so just a question how do you guys free yourself off the anger caused by downswing?

I'm sure you all know what a huge PBS geek I am by now. There was an excellent documentary aired a couple days ago on frontline about the US deficit which currently stands at $10,000,000,000,000.

Well, paygo is a common sense rule that almost every family or corporate budget uses. It stipulates that if the government is gonna spend more money on things such as a costly war (Iraq) or giving citizens more entitlement (prescription drugs) then they need to either cut spending elsewhere or raise more revenue to offset the new spending. When I decided to move into a more expensive apartment, I made sure that I offset that increase with a combination of higher income and lower expenses (selling my car and using zipcar). Every reasonable and sane entity working a budget uses this concept when deciding to spend a large sum of money.

In 1991, the year paygo was first signed into law, the deficit was 4.5% of GDP. By 2000, there was no longer a deficit, rather the surplus was 2.4%. Paygo was obviously working in maintaining fiscal discipline.

But then George W Bush took office and along with a republican congress, they allowed paygo to lapse. Then came two costly wars and an avalanche of new government spending programs including the prescription drug bill. Instead of finding a way to pay for these programs through increased taxes or cutting spending elsewhere, Bush actually lowered taxes. So how did we pay for all of this? We didn't. We just borrowed it and one day, we're gonna have to pay it all back.

I strongly urge everyone to watch the documentary because our situation is actually very scary and grave. As US taxpayers and citizens we should consider the financial health of the nation and also of future generations rather than focusing solely on reducing our own marginal tax rate by an extra couple percent.
