lowering my goals by longple, August 08

i think i push myself to hard when it comes to poker, everything under 20bb/100 is like a complete failure in my world on the low stakes as i play, and i always put down mosterous amount of hours..

looking at my last blogpost ive been running really bad aswell and its gotten to my head so much that i havent played to good either, wich leads to me really feeling like crap cuz poker is something really important for me nowadays.

Im not working either, so im just living off microstakes wins wich makes me not being able to move up stakes as i should/would like to. Especially now last months when i havent won as much as i woulda liked..

Lowering my goals, playing less = less stress.
Played a couple of sessions with a much more calm mind the last 3 days and it feels great.

cant control how i run, and ive been in kind of a lifetilted, blindish state of mind lately.

I also will cut down on my cashouts and just try to live a little cheaper for some month to really try and not feel stressed out over how much im winning.

will hang out with ex gf tonight, we are kinda close to getting back together. I really dont remember why we broke up in the first place anymore since she is really awsome and really loves me.. + shes hot (imo atleast)

feels good to be seing her again, have missed her alot last couple of months. also i can get my mind of poker for once.

pic of her doing some damn pose, just realised i dont have many "natural" pics of her even after 3 years of being a couple rofl
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_picures/7b1150ca7b7ccd519ecb9fab471e9671.jpg

i run crap and still plays nl25 but atleast im getting some of the good shiet tonight :D

suck it biatches!

Half Blood Prince by k2o4, August 08

Before going to see it I'd heard some mixed reviews. A few of my friends had told me it sucked (friends who aren't Harry Potter addicts), but I'd also seen lots of film critics saying it was the best Potter movie so far. Of course most everyone who was a Potter nut who'd seen it said it was good, but some of those same people actually liked Goblet of Fire.

So I went to the theatre last night with low expectations, and were they ever disappointed. I'm not positive yet, but I think that this was the best Potter movie so far. It's definitely the best out of the last 3 which were made. I feel like there has been a strange progression in how the movies have been made. The first 2 were very feel good kiddie movies, and all the cast was still in the young cute stage. The 3rd movie puberty hit and the director of "Y Tu Mama Tambien" took over the series and made it darker. I always liked 1 and 2 as fun, feel good, pretty close to the book movies. #3 I liked as a movie separate from the books.

After #3 the series went into the dark direction, and the director for #4 tried to take it further but in the process lost ALL of the good stuff and changed everything making without a doubt the worst Potter movie. Then #5 they started coming back to the book, adding more dialogue and character building scenes and focused less on lots of long fancy scenes with excessive special effects. #5 was good but not great. So I always thought of the first 2 as their own different genre and didn't compare them to 3-5. And out of 3-5, obviously #3 was the best.

Now we have Half-Blood prince. While they cut out a lot and changed a bit, for the first time since #3 I wasn't really angry about the things they cut out or annoyed by the things they changed. They kept lots of smaller side story stuff that other movies usually cut out, like the Weasly twins new shop. There was a lot more funny dialogue and focus on the fun character developing parts from the books which made me care about them so much. Most of the changes were smooth and I approved of them, like the way they changed the kiss with Ginny and Harry - to do it the original way would have added a bit too much screen time when the way they did it in the movie was just fine. They also finally brought back qwidditch (Sp?) and did it very well.

And most importantly, the director FINALLY got Dumbledore under control. He wasn't as good as the original actor, but this was the first movie where I liked him. In #3 his role was so small that it didn't matter so much that he sucked, but in #4 and #5 he was one of the major things I hated. I really hope the same director for #6 is doing all of #7, and I'm pretty sure that's the case.

There were some things I didn't like but it's actually a pretty short list. First and worst was the way they changed Xmas - the attack by Bellatrix and Fenrir was STUPID. Made no sense and was obviously just thrown in there cause some hollywood producer asshole felt like they needed more action. I wish they'd used that to have the mtg with the minister, but I guess they did take that entire line of story out of the movie. But I'd rather that they just ended the xmas scene with Lupin leaving and no fight, and then used the extra time to do the ending right.

That's my second complaint - the ending. Overall as far as a changed ending I think they did an ok job. But I think they should have done it right cause it would have been MUCH better AND it wouldn't have added too much more screen time. The tension at the end of the book was so high and intense and I wish they'd brought it to the screen cause it would have made the movie great. Plus it would have been awesome to see everyone having an epic battle in hogwarts.

Overall while watching this movie there were very few times where I was thinking "wtf they left that part out" even though a lot was left out. They did such a good job of picking all the most important things and keeping them in, and a lot of the stuff was very true to the book. I definitely liked it and am excited to see #7.

mindfucked by Uptown, August 08

Month --

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c1aa9.8882.jpg

-15bi's, 10bi's under expectation. Believe it or not I was so soulcrushed earlier today that I was ranting @ Panorama about seriously just cold turkey quitting the game - even though my brain understands that a 15k hand sample is literally nothing and doesn't mean anything.... (except for the very real possibility that I plain suck)

I was definitely playing pretty bad @ the beginning (albeit also running megabad), but of late I'm honestly confused what is going on.

I'm not sure whether I'm playing well or poorly; the fact that I've "learned" to c/f certain rivers depending on villain action "should" be +EV decisions, yet the fact that I have no confirmation of this just messes with my mind. The nonstop coolers, suckouts, setups, and ESPECIALLY villains hitting draws (or 2p, trips, etc) when I manage the pot based on what I believe to be their range is making me doubt my ingame decisions right now.

I wish I knew whether or not I'm actually playing well, that's really all I ask at this point. Worse is the fact that I 4-8 table (actually recommitted to playing only 4 now), so volume is low, variance is high, and it causes even more confusion over the reliability of my percieved results thus far. And when I tilt-increase my tablecount, robot mode ensues and ofc it's a disaster b/c Uptown-robot is a spewtardcallingstation catastrophe lol.

Conveniently I'm off of a 1 week vacation so hopefully clearing my head off in some remote island will help when I get back.

Cheers LP, run 10000x better than me plz X__X

Snowglobe of scarface by piratematerial, August 08

According to the toyshop; "Scarface is an unforgettable icon of money, power and extravagance, with Al Pacino's mesmerizing performance as Tony Montana—one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film."
Now a guy from MAKE magazine (love that shit) used Mezcotoys Al pacino doll's to make a snowglobe depicting Tony in the final scene of Scarface. Gunning down everything in sight in a blizzard of snooooooooooow. Here he explains how you can create this yourself. I think it's pretty cool.

here are the total results of yesterday's play, including the hour i played before heading out to barbecue at a friend's house. Food was really good and we had a few beers at his balcony. Which was all very relaxing.

Distractions by AgentIce, August 07

Pretty decent past few days, been slacking on updating the blog though. Had to deal with some distractions that cost me hours too.

Did 4 hours on wednesday, made about 320 so it was a nice win that day. Some friends showed up and I spent a few hours with them, had to put my foot down and say I had to work though. That's not something I would have done before, I only would have done about 2 hours that day if I didn't do that.

Thursday though I only ended up doing an hour, did some things with the girlfriend and then we got invited to a party. So I never really got another chance to play. I could have handled it better, but the distractions got the better of me. Live and learn.

Today I have the place to myself, girlfriend is visiting her grandma. I got about 5 hours done. Really crap day though, ran bad basically. I was getting annoyed with the slow leak of money to 70 vpip types who kept sucking out with 62o type hands when poker shortcuts messed up and it put me all-in pre with AJs. Of course someone had AA and insta called and ganked me. That tilted me pretty hard so I stopped. That's definitely a one in a million occurence since I have millions of hands and it's never happened before, fun! Afterwards I was really thinking about getting some weed and not playing anymore. Stayed strong though and did another couple hours

I'm going to make sure I update the blog daily, even if its a small blurb. Also want to start posting some hands.

Raping and owned by remember87, August 07

WARNING: this blog entry might contain ribberish about bad beats and rigged live play. Read at own risk.

So I am in Gothenburg now with cousin and we decided to test the casino here. In an earlier post I have said that 2/5 in Vegas almost was as soft as Swedens 20/20. I think I have to take that back!

The night started out as it should. 4 people limp, I raise and everyone folds. 50 times in a row :-) I think I doubled my stack the first hour in only raising pre and CB! I played around 60/55/4 and completely destroyed the table. Nobody even tried to do anything :-P It was really crazy how much value it was.

Then something happened. It all started when I lost a decent size pot with ATv AJ on a AA5ss72 board. I couldnt win one hand the worst might be when utg raised (first time in 3 hours so I put him only on AA/KK) I call with 99, so does button and SB. Flop comes Jh9h8x. Utg bets, I raise and then button sits and swears for 3 min and finally shoves. Utg then swears and finally folds (KK he said). I call, button shows AJ ("thought I was bluffing"). He is rewarded with turn 8, river J.

Then a strange hand came. A pretty good player 3b from SB very big, since I didnt know what to make of it I call with AdQd. Flop comes 9c7d6c. He instabets something weird so thought he was completely empty and call. River is 2d and he puts me AI for like 3k. I almost followed my plan and get it in. But then my stupid-gay-idiot brain started rabbling about that he wouldnt be stupid enough to do this as a bluff (dusty you know what Im talking about). So I finally fold and he shows ATo, having 5 outs against me.

That almost started tilting me. But not really, I think I am healed from that! :-)
I won some more $$ at pawning the table before my final big pot for the night. I raise utg w KK, button squeeze and we see a flop of K62r, get it in and his AA spikes an A on the turn. I didnt want to reload at that time and got my last 1/2 stack w 2pair+flushdraw and lost against a straightdraw.. Why not?

To summarize it: value is crazy but bring the lucky boots if you want to win!
(ps. Promise not to whine in a while! :-P ds.)

Coaching/Graphs by MARSHALL28, August 07

I'll be coaching any limit up to 200nl 6max and heads up, I would say I have a better fundamental grasp of 6max than HU, but a better "feel" for HU than 6max. I've found video review to be the best learning method but also am happy to do live sweats or discuss theory.

I've currently set the pricing as follows:
100$ for an individual hour
5 hours for 450$
10 hours for 750$
Included in the packages:
1. You can contact me and question me over AIM or MSN at any time to go over any hands you've played and aren't sure about.
2. You can save a series of HH's in a wordpad file that I'm happy to spend a half an hour going over with you at no additional cost until we've completed the 5 or 10 hours designated.
3. You will have access to sweat me through teamviewer any time I am playing.

Anyways, here's a graph of my play since I started back up in March:

Beats, brags and variance: by DustySwedeDude, August 07

Brag: Up 7k€ Sklanksy bux today
Beat: Down like 6k€ real monies
Variance: I still think Dilba is very boinkable.

So far I'm 0/3 in decent sized allin flips at 25/50. 99 lost to AKs, AKs lost to QQ and AKo lost to JJ (granted, it was only a 50bb pot or less, vs some shortie). Basically kept away from playing good people HU at 10/20 except for one dude I feel I've got an psychological edge over. Dunno, guess I'll grind some more 3/6 tonight since I keep winning a ton there and then go losing it on coin flips higher. Feels really good anyway though, considering I'm finally feeling fairly at home at 10/20 with bet sizes and such. Hoping to be a full time 5/10 reg and playing mostly 10/20 within the next 5 months or so.

Some hands:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/727712 : AA dude is a nit so it's fairly likely that he slowplays something, I'd say that he has me beat like half the time or so, however, the other dude is much deeper with me and his shove seems like some decent flush draw that I'm more or less flipping with at best. Don't think he slowplays high pairs or plays them like that after the flop very often and if he flopped a set it's too weird of a way to play it for me to buy it. I guess some 2ps are possible but unlikely due to pf. Thus, do you guys think I've got enough equity here?

My first "thin" calldown for stacks at 10/20: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/727713

On another note I'm running at 14ptbb/100 so far this month over like 17k hands. And 5k under equity. Obviously it's a lot of hidden random luck and such but and I'm probably running really good in spots as far as hitting the right parts of peoples ranges and such goes, but it's still very nice to feel that I might actually be a winning player at 10/20.

Also, it might be the fact that I've been having some real nice results the last 8 weeks or so, but I feel that I can deal with beats much better then before.

stress! >.< by fruitdrink, August 07

Been trying to grind low stakes on fulltilt for ages however... it proves to be harder than i thought.

I feel like ive been playing pretty well except for a few hands which ive been trying to get help from by posting them in LP. Ive also been watching alot of vids on how to play but things just keep going up and down for me.

Is the grinding process meant to be this difficult and frustrating? My strategy has basically been following the articles in LP with minor changes.

Sooo here are my stats, pls comment on my stats and how i can improve my play.

Hands review by ConquistadoR, August 07

As requested here are all my pots that i lost >50bb this month so far. Gonna record a video of me playing later also, so that you guys could help me improving.

Thanks for any comments.

·4 std i guess

·5 std too i guess?
+ Show Spoiler +

·6 now this hand I butchered. normally i 3bet JJ pf but this time it didnt seem rigth against this guys utg open and i decided to just flat it. now when the flop comes i think my JJ still is in good shape usually and so i call and when vick flats behind me i put him on a draw, mainly a fd but he might also have a weak king or something imo. then the turn comes lex bets out so at this moment i put him on AK at least, flush didnt make much sense for him to have but i knew that vick probably has it so i was kinda lost what to do, i thought of raising but i wanted to hit my fh cheaply on the river and hoped that vick would just call behind i guess. then he minraised and i was almost 100% sure that he had the flush, so lex flats and i get ~ 0,16 pot odds or 6-1 which is basically break even for me. but the river bricks and i talk myself into calling because i thought there is still a slim chance that i might be good here but ofc it is not. well:/

·7 I guess opening this utg is debatable, called his minraise and i hit my dream flop, from there on pretty std.

·8 Meh pretty spewy I guess.

·9 cant get away

·10 def. very bad, im repping a very narrow range and won't get him to fold often. meh

·11 i 3bet this pf a lot, but didnt feel like it this time. guess i could check behind turn but i thought there was some value in betting. meh when he minraises me like that im probably beaten 90% and should just fold? got away quite cheaply tho

Auch, TILT, quit for the day by piratematerial, August 07

Here a quick update. i was actually playing and getting some nice matches in. But because of what just happened i'm too tilted too continue right away. Firt the good news i'll post the results of yesterday, they were solid. And today started off really well, i was running good and just crushing bad opponents. Playing well but also winning flips. Theoretically it doesn't matter if you lose flips because you'll win his stack anyway in the long run but usually they are instantly gone and your reads and time invested into getting them are worthless.

Anyway how the hell did i just lose 10 buyins in 300 hands?? it was 2 tabling 2 different villains. 1 called 80% of my button opens OOP and proceded to either call down everytime i was barreling and folding most of the times i was vbetting or improving from bottom to two pair or to a straight or whatever, you know. hand after hand after hand. he quit me when i finally started running my stack up a little but he was up 3 buyins.

The other opponent was opening a decent amount like 75% with raises from the button. so far so good. he called too much of my opoens with 50% BUT what i would think :S is a big leak is that he called 100% of my 3bets. and i 3bet him ALOT only for value. i increased my value range a little bit and left out the hands i would sometimes bluff with and i think i was 3betting like 17%.
he owned me in every way possible. just outflopping, outvbetting, outdrawing, outluckboxing everything on me. i was trying to capitalize on the fact that my 17% range should beat his 75% range but this was not working at all.
when i finally start winning some back i have AQ, 3bet him. and afte 160 hands or so he 4bets me for the first time.. we are now 150bb deep and though i'm very happy trying out Krantz theory usually. This just didnt seem like a good spot. i was a little bit too shove happy, because i was getting crushed so hard. it was kind of deep. there was no 4 bet dynamic at all. he would just call every 3bet.. maybe he levelled me there. he must have known i was tilted so expecting some good action.
I quit him when i was like 6bi down. in retrospect there are like 3 hands i wish i would have played differently and also it really sucks because i think i have a huge edge on him definetely now i know how he actually plays in these 3 bet pots. while playing i was just guessing how he played calling 100% of 3bets, for example i assumed he would sometimes float air in 3bet bet pots but only thing he once floated was a weak A hi. Also he never raised me on the flop. not with draws/air/nuts.

i think 8 buyins are due to variance (i think a lot of it is created when so many 3bet pots are played) and maybe 2 i didn't need to lose but i wasn't thinking so clear anymore. i decided it was better to quit, take a shower and get prepared because i have a barbecue in an hour or so and i need to buy some beer! That will take my mind of the sickness and tomorrow there is another day.

big step back in my results so far , still feel confident again already after writing this down and going over the hands in my head. the setups, the mistakes. etc.
