I'm starting training with Team Quest tomorrow at the Redding, Ca location. I'm very excited and probably psyching myself out a little but oh wells. Looking to have a fight coming up by the end of October so going to be busting my ass off in 2 a days for the next 2-3 weeks. Hopefully I do well enough to impress a scout or some sponsors.
I took a break at -650 or so. Got myself together and played 4 and 5 tables. Ran really good and I think I played my hands well. Not at my hand goal but this weekend I've kind of taken off since its my last one in vegas. Really glad I didn't finish the day down 7bi lol.
Maybe will sneak in some hands later.. I feel a little drained after the swong.
my gf wants to get me something cool and unique for my birthday, but i dont know what to ask for. budget would be like $100-$200. ill ship $5 on stars to whoever has best idea.
shipped a step 1... ehhr 5 by piratematerial, September 27
so i was just playing some $7 steps on the side of comfortably 4 tabling 200nl 6max and busted out of a couple already when i had to rearrange my tables a bit to be able to watch a cardrunners video when i notice busto_soon at my table..
wtf is busto_soon doing at a $7 sng. and why did no one bust out yet, its been running for 10 minutes at least? OMG FML i did the old accidentally register for a $700 sng...
luckily i started out my poker career destroying the $10 dollar sngs so i have a few thousand games behind my belt and to make a long story short i ship a step 5 obviously!
BUT what the hell do i do with a step6 ticket?????????? guys if i have to play this i'm putting my like 1/4th of my BR on a single SNG
C/C flop -> open bet blank turnby fira, September 27
As the pf aggressor, hero c/c's flop, then open bets a blank turn.
I see this line so much in higher stakes mtts lately but I don't find myself using it often. It seems like hero always has a hand in these situations. Anyone use this line much and can explain the reasoning behind it if there is any?
I flew to Atlantic City with a friend of mine to play the WPT event at the Borgata this past week. It was a productive trip overall; made day 2 of the tournament and lost an all in preflop with AA to TT for 110k chips at 600-1200 to the eventual 3rd place finisher, shit happens.
Played some cash games while I was there and they were very juicy during the tournament. Made like 30k total over the course of the tournament, then dumped half back the last day playing a little poorly and also a little coolering. So in total a 16k profit trip after my $3500 tourney buy in, cant rly complain.
random thought's + i need halp~!by jasper5408, September 27
life's been great the past few days. i've just been feeling alot better than i normally do (i used to feel like i constantly had these mild headaches during the entire day). and maybe depression is lightening up a bit as well~~
anyway i've got a few minutes before i go over to a friend's place and watch/eat/eat some football/pizza/wings etc.
can't even believe my string of winning sessions at nl50 but lately but i've started to doubt my game (despite the good results). Mainly because i feel like i play pretty decent and win some small monies and then cooler a guy with a set or an over pair or some higher flush. i mean i get coolered all the time too, but i don't feel like i'm out thinking my opponents as much as i thought i was (ie i don't really bluff/call to thin/etc). i'm trying to fight the trend towards nonchalant robotic play and have therefore been trying to analyze some hands. hopefully this gets in before the end-of-month-results blog posts.
i'm probably going to do this pretty regularly and thanks in advance for all the advices.

i feel like if he had raised bigger on the flop i would have been more inclined to 3 bet. but i mean he gave me pretty decent odds i think. and i don't think there's any fold equity on the flop anyway. so i think call on flop is a no-brainer. on the turn, i opt to c/r in case he has a combo draw or some pair like JJ TT with a heart. i don't really know about my play here. and to be honest i had a brain lapse where i thought this was a 3 bet pot (because when i hold ak it's almost always a 3 bet pot) so i think i probably weighted his range more towards pairs. what line do you guys like here?

was gonna bluff the river, but that's such a weird rundown of cards, as it hits nearly all draws, 2 pairs, etc. i also beat JT, T9, etc other low pairs on the flop. didn't really think a bluff here would fold out much that i didn't beat anyway. i normally 3 bet pf, but i just sat at table and i tend to be a bit more showdown happy earlier in the session. flop/turn completely standard? c/r turN?

i normally cbet ~100% of flops heads up, but am trying to put an effort into checking occasionally with air/draws/top pair hands. i raise turn because i think my hand's best, plenty worse call here (JT, T9, 77-JJ) and i think my hand is somewhat disguised. i'm hesitant to let go of this hand because i just started checking top pair, and doubt opponent knows that. also my line does not make that much sense and opponent may do something retarded with a pair of Tens or JJ. in any case i butchered the hand somewhat, and didn't want to call because of that

4 bet pot, i'm pretty sure i have the nuts. questioning my flop bet, i think AK with and without K clubs probably reshoves here? If KK QQ JJ call here with a club i think i'm ok with that too cause they are drawing pretty thin as well. thoughts?

Some bluffs...i think bet sizing is extremely important to bluffing and i'm pretty sure i fucked a lot of it up.

not a super strong combo draw, but i think i fold out the higher flush draws which i think is crucial. prob fold out everything here except for sets and high overpairs? when do you like flat call and when do you like raise? a problem i see is that villain bets half pot on turn 6 into 12, and i'm getting 3:1 here. i guess reads prob dictate if i raise (his half pot bet=weakness) or flat (his half pot bet=inducing a raise)

pretty standard i think, he gives up lead on turn, and once he checks river i feel like i'm golden here.
Yeah baby, I officially pronounce myself as a winning player at NL10!
Bring it on NL25 -.-
All this while watching 4 vids from DC.
-Learned quite a bit about reverse implied odds
-Learned about necessity of assessing the board when we hit a drawing hand in relation to our implied odds
-Finally I fully understand how stove calculates % against ranges, and some basics on how to do it myself (e.g. possible combinations of cards, card removal etc.)
-Learned some forum etiquette, and that majority of people on forums think they know everything. I will try to avoid falling into that category myself from now on :o
-Also, learned a lot about an area I completely neglected so far - table and seat selections in relation to looseness/passivity/awareness/stacks of villains.
-Found out a statement that is incredibly true: 'The more you learn about poker, the more you realize you don't know'
-And polished some basics like what hands to play in position and against what villains etc.
So far watching vids/reading articles while playing 3-5 tables was a great experience for me. I don't really have to focus too much at NL10-NL50 to be a winning player, and I stopped having the feeling that my time is wasted when I don't win a single $$.
Hi there! Poker seems to be going well just lately. I just finished up my 2nd session of the day, finishing up about 2.6k, and I won about 400 or so in the first session despite being down about 6k and semi-tilted not long into the session. I've played about 2.6k hands in the last couple of days which is quite a lot for me and the swings have been pretty wild. I've not been doing well in terms of All in EV, worst of it was probably losing a 420bb pot AA vs QQ all in preflop against a fish who 4bet to 60big blinds and tanked before calling the shove, but I've still been having reasonable results as of late which is a good sign.
I'm beginning to enjoy poker once again, and it certainly helps that I'm bored of pretty much every game I own right now. StarCraft, WoW, Diablo2, some PS3 games, all of them are boring to me now and right now I'm playing poker with focus, I'm thinking about each situation more clearly than I have in pretty much anytime in the past year and it feels great.
Here are the stats and graph thus far for the month:
As you can see there are a few 200NL hands, that's because I made a 50 minute 4 tabling video on FTP. Currently I haven't added sound to it though so I probably won't be releasing it for a while but I've talked about releasing a video a few times in previous blogs in the past and never got around to it for whatever reason, but finally I've got one recorded, I just need to record audio over the top. Whenever I tried making them in the past I tried to do live audio with 4 tables and it was just too much action to talk about so now that I can actually record over the top, pause the video and talk about situations it should turn out pretty well when I get around to doing it.
Outside of poker I've pretty much been a hermit in the last month or so. Apart from my birthday on the 8th, a friends birthday a few days after that and going to watch K1 WGP Seoul yesterday I've done nothing but workout, poker, eat and sleep. I'm perfectly happy with that though as playing as much poker as possible and getting fitter are my main ambitions right now. I have missed a few days at the gym here and there, particularly on weekends or days when my girlfriend doesn't work, and we end up going into couch potato mode. I feel like I have definitely made a little bit of progress at the gym though, I feel like I've lost a little bit of fat and my cardio ability has improved a fair bit. In terms of size and strength I can't see any noticable gains, but I'm ok with that because the main focuses right now are fat loss and endurance. I haven't got my body composition retested because it hasn't quite been 1 month just yet but in a week or so I'll get that rechecked and have some numbers to compare myself then with myself 1 month ago and hopefully see that decent progress is being made numerically.
Time for some food now, hopefully next blog post I'll have that video done and uploaded and hopefully some continued success to report.
Entered the FT as short stack, but had this beauty to triple up on the bubble: + Show Spoiler +

Ty everyone who railed (even tho u guys brought me no luck at all)
just bought a brand new itouch from craigslist for $160, went home plugged it in and it doesnt read. It was factory sealed and everything... but for some reason when i connected it to 3 diff computers it can't recognize the USB and the itouch doesnt light up or anything at all. But when u press the box/home key it says its full battery life but im 95% sure when you connect it to computer theres like something wrong with the system so that its unrecognizable by comp.
if anyone knows how to fix this ill donate to you at tables
