NL5 shot. by RaiZ, October 12

First of all i'd like to thank you for all the support from my previous blog. It was really appreciated.
I followed Fayth advice : i was running at 5 bb/100 which was a real pain in the ass though. But i try to follow the bankroll management so i didn't have any choice.
But after i got 40$, i decided definitely to take a shot a nl5 and drop down whenever i'd lose 1 buyin.
So far i didn't lose a single buyin. But i guess it's because i'm running good ? Whatever feel pretty ok for 1 buyin shot.
This time i tried to play with my own style.
Enough talk here are the graphs.

Hope this will continue ! >_<

Owned by Scout at 10/20 after I misclick :( by Joeingram1, October 12

Just finished playing for the day up about 3k in 100 hands when Scout decided to start loading up new tables and I got on some wait lists. I finally got sat at one of his 10/20 full ring tables and was 1 tabling it while watching some other games. Somehow while doing this I make my first fkn misclick of the year and lose the 4k flip

Variation is a biatch. by joshua3m, October 11

Ok, i get pissed off little bit after playing NL10 and get called by any marginal hands. Started playing NL25 with really short bankroll as i have around 12bi right now but i`m trying do my best to get at least 25 and start playing two or more tables.

I`m looking for mentor who can at least show me the way. Great will be if someone at least can have a look on stats and say what i`m doing wrong. I know that my VPIP should be more close to PFR and i find out that i`m playing to many hands on weak tables where ppl easy fold to 3betting.

http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/1951/lolhn.png

lol to many hands.. i know but if i can steal some blinds and i know that ppl will fold 80% of times.. why not try

http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/364/stats1t.png

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/9786/grafn.png

I had only two sessions as i didnt have chance to play more. 600 hands it's not so bad with this results right?

Starting from scratch by emcast, October 11

i have grinded low stakes to mid stakes poker seriously for 3-4 years now on mostly microgaming software and recently set myself a challenge to grind from $600 and see if i can finally make it to high stakes. So here i will start my first blog on my way to the top!!

Firstly i decided to change sites and change alias to start a fresh i deposited 600 dollars and started playing 1/2nl short stacked. my strategy here was to slow play my big hands ( hoping not to get busted ) and play fairly tight although with position in mind always trying to steal blinds with min raises and reraise agressive players with resonable starting hands. i find that this seems to work as regulars do not want to get involved with shortstakers when they have average holdings.

i have started writing this blog after just over 2 months of play, below shows my EVhttp://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f9985.1.png

summary for last 2 months

1. i have taken afew shots at 3/6
2. not played much heads up , which i belive is one of my strengths, will hopefully progress to more when i get my roll up
3. once i got my roll up to 2k i started 6 tabling with full buy in

anyways i will continue this more in depth, with afew interesting hands and plays , i will hopefully try and give a day/weekly update

cheers

All things to all men by Chewits, October 11

I have been getting back into Poker as much as I can these days. I have a very much so full time job, that has odd and long hours, and times when I am away from home for a week or more with no access to playing online poker. I love my job, and am really happy even though the hours are mad sometimes, Its something I have always wanted to do. However I do wish sometimes I had a little bit more free time to play more Poker! Because right now I have got a huge drive within me to play lots of Poker and improve, improve and improve!

Last week I was off two days there in a row (which can be pretty rare for me lol), and played alot of MTT poker. Finished 215th/9760 and 20th/2500, it was good but also hugely disappointing. I have been reading up on improving my late game play, and checking out videos. This has helped alot. I also have had great input from fellow LPers, and I do appreciate the comments. This weekend I was off again, (really rare, but its calm before the storm of being busy..), and played a few yesterday. It just wasn't meant to be, and although I managed to bounce back after a few suckouts, I ended up busting in 140th/2400. So no final table yet. But I am working on it!

As I do not have as much time to put in epic 10 hour sessions every day, on most evenings, I have been playing small multi table sit+gos. The 27man ones are decent, as they only take around 1hour 30mins - 2 hours to complete. Very soft. I have not an amazing ROI in them, but I have not played enough of them yet to get a realistic ROI. I would ideally play the 180man sit and gos, because I do feel I got a good edge over most players, as they are all generally really bad and have no concept of pushing ranges, but 4 hour sessions are just too long for me on workdays. I have to try and satisfy everyone, which includes my friends and my fiancee!

So it brings me back to my blog topic and video at the start of this blog. This song is practically on repeat at the moment. Such a tune. But its meaning is also interesting. "All things to all men". It is a quote from the bible I believe. I am no religious person, but do find these words really thought provoking. It pretty much means, to satisfy everyone. Which I feel is really important, especially for poker players. Because even after you have grinded for hours and hours a day, there is a point where you have to step back and do other things other than poker. You have to have a healthy balance, and you have to satisfy and give your time to other people just as much as Poker itself. I really think it is one of the most overlooked criteria for being good at this game, or any game even.

Because ever since I have not had as much time, and do other things in my life, I have actually seen my Poker improve by leaps and bounds. I seem to be way more focused when it comes to Poker and I have a much clearer head with loads of determination. I put in way more effort because I do not have all the time in the world.

Thought I would share those thoughts with you, and hopefully some of you can take them onboard and make something of them.

Cheers for reading.

beating a limit... by Gsr_01_integ, October 10

What is a good sample size of hands to know whether or not long term u are beating a limit? It doesnt matter to me about moving up or anything like that I just want to know what a good sample size of hands would be to know if that limit has been beat.
