cake poker + other updates by collegesucks, October 09

i transferred $300 bucks to cake mostly just to help out milkman, but turns out this is one of the juiciest sites ever. the games are not as populated but the players are totally clueless. the regs have a ton of leaks and give me like 0 trouble. the fish are so bad but they somehow end up with huge stacks because the regs just never vbet properly against them but love to pay them off with crap. every night i've played multiple buyins deep with fish who donkbet 4x the pot on the river and fold to my shove for like 10bbs more 200bbs deep lol. given the 33% rakeback + deposit bonuses and the deucescracked free membership with $500 mgr, i think i can make a really profitable run with my 6 bi shot.

been running pretty shitty in +200bb pots though

1. 22 vs K9 on 29J9J all in on turn
2. 33 vs A6 on 3A7AA all in on turn
3. JJ vs AJ on AJ3Ax for a 400bb pot... fuck. (granted i misplayed this hand horribly by checking the turn after a flop c/r but whatever).
4. KK vs JJ twice, 4bet pots, all in on rag flop, got rivered J twice. wtf is up with these regs flatting JJ to a 4bet preflop... it's so retarded. they either go all in on rags flop drawing to two outs with 2 cards to come instead of 5, or they get minimum value vs AK. wtf tilt

wtfever despite this i'm up decently and i'm hoping to move up to 100NL within the next week

also, i have a full roll for 50NL on stars and i mostly mass multitable there, which provides a better hourly, but lately pt3hud has been giving me a ton of shit. i've been screwing around with the HUD and i inadvertently changed some critical graphics settings for a while and that totally tilted me. i lagged out of multiple tables and i couldn't play well at all under such conditions.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/be041.fupt3.png

i fixed the problem and i should be on my way to play a lot better hopefully.

here's something that all microstakes players should do better. isolate high vpip fish... a LOT. even a hand like Q4s on the button has TONs of value vs fish in the blinds. cbetting is WAY too profitable vs these players. i guess you could run into trouble if you can't play all that well postflop, but i guess one of the ways to improve postflop is to get involved in as many spots postflop as possible. taking your own two cards into consideration, just kind of have a general idea about which boards to cbet, which boards to cbet once and give up, which boards to barrel, and which boards to check back. fish limps and you're in the sb with KTo/QJo/Axo.. raise it up and cbet your way to profitability.

also, if you have a decent hand, like top pair good kicker, bet the god damn turn.

Milestone! by SugoGosu, October 09

So I finally reached my next milestone, I have accumulated a bankroll of $1,000!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/f5dbf.1k.jpg

So far, October is going pretty well. I'm up $250 not including rakeback, with rakeback I'm up $315 so it's going pretty well. I might take a stab at NL50 later on if not today then this weekend.

I'm playing in the Collegiate Starleague on Sunday for my school and my first match is against NonY, so i'm almost surely going to lose. Oh well.

Going to go out drinking soon, so good luck everyone at the tables. And please respect my raises at NL50!

pc + mac and massive hand reivew~ by jasper5408, October 09

was wondering what problems/solutions you have encountered owning a pc desktop and a mac laptop?

i imagine the biggest pain the ass would involve sharing a single external hdd with both os's.

hand 1 + Show Spoiler +

he's been raising my bb, and i've been making tons of monies off of him, so i don't really like re-raising him unless i have garbage. particularly since he likes to raise with suited Ax and such. i almost never check behind flop in this situation considering i c-bet the majority of the time. i do this maybe 1/10's if that. it's ok to call here on riveR? especially if you've been winning tons of money? he can just jam his shitty A and hope to steal or split pot?

hand 2 + Show Spoiler +

i think i can fold out most hands here, and i'm somewhat credibly repping TT or JJ esp since it's multi pot. i also like that i have the backdoor flush draw. initial raiser said he folded KK but i don't expect this to be the norm. like? dislike?

hand 3 + Show Spoiler +

really wanted to shove river. put him on a flush draw the majority of the time. i thought about repping the flush draw myself and just shoving and getting called by KQ or A5, but just thought that's such a small % of his range so just opted to flat. is river clear shovE?

hand 4 + Show Spoiler +

if i put villain on air and heart draw here the majority of the time, is it better to go ahead and c/r turn? or check/call and induce river bluff? i thought his heart draws had some pair as well or some inside straight draw so i opted to c/r here thinking i would get called a bit more than normal.

hand 5 + Show Spoiler +

minraise turn to get value from flush drawS? river bet is def to thin right?

-----------------------------------------
Bluffs

hand 6 + Show Spoiler +

i thought this was a fantastic spot to bluff, and was shocked that villain called

hand 7 + Show Spoiler +

any thoughts on this hand? just lead turn? villain snapped turn, so i *sigh checked river after thinking about shoving.

first session on fulltilt by wolfheart, October 09

Since i got my roll yesterday 310 on fulltilt i played nonstop 13 hours 4 fulltilt tables session. Started out bad droped to like 230..then max point was 580 then i was sitting 4 tables all over 100.. on even had 182$.
But then i though i play some 50$ hu where it got bad since i got money in good in 140$ pots and got sucked out. So finished in end 470. So still not bad but not so good then 580.

What i can say fulltilt 25nl. They are real nits nits nits. I played laggy style what is not my style at all. Just any connectors suited connectors any ace any 2 facecards etc was raise almost any position.
And i 3bet reg raises also alot.
They really didnt like me and didnt want to play at me then i had raised 4 times in row pre. It was easy chip chip chip up most part. Main thing was to cont bet like u valubetting and shoot twice then u sense hes weak and 3rd if u put him on a draw.

Lost some 3-4 3bi+ pots also in session but it didnt matter i knowed if i keep it up i get it all back.
Most funny pot was then i pot preflop with K6spades utg+1. And get called by 99. flop comes 457 + spades i check raise pot on flop and get it in, flush hits on turn and he was mumbling what a joke bad beat for me and i am donk with k6 blalblablaa.

20k Mth, 10k Swings, 5/10+, Live Poker TR, MOVING! by Joeingram1, October 09

Okay time for my first official blog post in a long time on here! Thanks for reading and following the blog, hopefully I will be able to update more often with graphs and interesting hands on my quest to rise thru the stakes and play 500/1k with Phil Ivey lol.

For those who missed my 30/30 Dating Challenge thread on 2+2, I am sorry. It was basically a challenge I made for myself where the goal was to go on 30 dates in 30 days with women. I would update the thread with trip reports from each date with pics and write about the sexcapades that went down. It was a hugely popular thread and they even talked about it on the 2+2 Pokercast! its a few minutes in

Some of the highlights included, me leaving an asian girl at the beach in chicago, going to a concert with random blonde girl, end up falling for bulgarian girl and eventually go to a Pink concert with her before it all falls apart, sex up random black girl, hispanic girl, white girl with kid, etc..
Eventually someone got upset about my exploits and sent messages out to most of the girls on my facebook friends list about the dating thread and how I am writing about it all and other means choice words. I had to get the thread deleted because I really didn't want a bunch of people I know IRL reading about it but while it was there, the thread was AMAZING!

I am actually moving to La Jolla in San Diego later this month with small stakes player Dashornman and I look foward to picking up where my 30/30 challenge left off as I attempt to conquer the women of SD!! Stay Tuned for updates on this!! If anyone lives out there let me know!

I wrote up a trip report from my live poker session I played the other night, you can read that here if you would like

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/27/...ast-visit-shoe-lovely-hammond-603862/

I am still planning to do my 1 Million Hands in 1 Month at 6max prop bet in January. I decided to do it then for a few reasons. First, I won't reach SNE this year so I figure this will give me a good head start next year, also many of the regs won't be grinding for milestones/be at pca/taking time off/etc so games should be a little easier. Doing it in January also allows me to build up my bankroll some more and get maximum action on the prop (hoping for 60k+). I am actually very excited to attempt this and think it will be a real challenge for me! I am just worried that my recent high stakes playing with playing less tables will affect my ability/desire to grind nl100 for 15 hours a day for a month straight. We will see!

As far as poker goes, here's how September went for me. I started off making a few prop bets that I needed to play 300k hands, but before I went nuts on that I decided to start taking some shots at 5/10 6m/fr games that looked good. I started off doing well and was up around 10k before having a bad session and losing 6kish. I grinded back at lower for a few days and then decided to start shot taking more. I ran well/played well and ended up with my biggest poker month yet. I played some random 25/50, 10/20 also along the way and here are some of the fun HH's

Naturally I was feeling pretty good about the month and as October started I figured I would try the same things and see what happened. The first session went well but then I had a glorious -10k day with me running bad, trying to bluff Anksy off AA (featured in a deucescracked video), trying to make a play on Kingofcards after he lost alot to PA headsup. I was pretty sad after it all happened and decided to go back and play nl100 later that night and had a +21BI session. Then the next 2 sessions at nl100 I lost 20 and 15BI respectively and was all confused and shit and decided i hated full ring. The next day I started 24 tabling 1/2 6max, made 1k, got some confidence back and started taking 3/6 5/10 10/20 shots. The results since then have gone great and I have rebounded from being -12k to now up 2k for the month. Also I am FINALLY out of the negative on the God Almighty PokerTableRatings site much to the chagrin of all my PTR comment fans.

Graph for the month so far

Some fun hands for sure! Some ask why I am playing so high and do I think I have an edge and am I fucking nuts? Yes I am nuts, I think I have an edge over awful fish players and because nl100/200 just doesn't excite me anymore. I want to feel the heart beating and 2k/4k pots get me excited to play poker again and I can actually play normal there. Compared to when I play nl100 and just go nuts and 3bet every hand and call every 4bet with atc. My overall results have been good so far but we will see what happens, I might make 50k, I might lose 20k, I would say its 50/50 either way but hopefully I will be able to take some 25/50 shots soon, I have to clear the 4k fpp and purchase my 5k milestone bonus and maybe with that monies I will take a 9k shot.

Besides all of that fun stuff, life has been going well and have been back in the gym everyday in preparition of the beaches in San Diego! Can't wait to get out there and enjoy nice weather/women all the time! Time go to sleep but thanks for reading the blog!!

Swings.. by FrEaK[S.sIR], October 09

I certainly didn't miss these swings. Not a lot buyins-wise but I'm still getting used to not having the money hurt.

Was going to move down to 1/2 to rebuild confidence when I hit -9k in 24 hours but then I godmoded 2/4 deep Finding some fishes helped too

Been considering doing some writing in my blog. I just have a hard time coming up with ideas to write about but I can talk non stop about anything. When it comes down to writing I jsut freeze up though. It's funny.

800 hand sesh by hotshot, October 09

Hey. 800ish hands...http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/6e4e4.oct092009.jpg

I've been a lifetime live player. Did pretty well in 1/2 at Mohegan, but never really played serious. I strive to be a student of the game, and I got a few good mentors. Basically online, I've been a donkfish for my entire life because I felt there was always a disparity between online and live play. So I'm pretty much fed up with losing online, and I am going to start playing smarter. Thanks to my mentors today! Especially Jeff .

moving! by piratematerial, October 08

They are exciting days right now. Today i signed the lease for my new appartment in Amsterdam. I will move in with 2 girls and 1 guy i don't really know. They seem really cool so far. The appartment is great. It's quite luxurious and in a good location, so i'm very happy with that. Will post pics when i have moved in.

Because of all this and a lot of social stuff; going out with friends to concerts and bars i really haven't played too much poker and it will be a while before ill be able to make up those hours, since moving will require a lot of my attention.

in other news. i thought i had seen Inglorious Bastards and talked about it with quite some people , but it turned out i've seen the 1977 original and not the new tarantino one. so i guess i'll have to rewatch it, hehe. didnt understand why everyone was saying Brad Pitt was in it, figured it was good make-up.. i can really recommend the original though its quite cool. http://www.david.nu/bilder/inglorious-bastards.jpg

Moving up by Holly23, October 08

I have not updated my blog in while since I have have little time to play poker lately. I've tried to make stabs at higher limits but after losing significant buyins I always drop back to NL2 because I feel that it is my comfort zone. I believe that my play style at this limit is very effective however it does not typically work in my favor at higher limits.

So far this is my life time history at NL2
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/bdf71.newgraph2.JPG

I just started playing NL10 recently. My sample size of hands is only about 5000, but I think i'm going to try to stick to this limit for now. One thing I have been doing new lately is not relying on stats from Hold'em Manager entirely. I have encountered some situations where I find myself trying to analyze other players hand ranges.

For example, in this hand the player is running 25/22. I saw that he reraised with hands like AK, KQ, high pocket pairs, and *loves to slow play*. Although, he would limp suited connectors and would just call raises with small pocket pairs. If he had the K why check raise me with the best hand? I'm not sure if I played this hand right. I think this is one of the few occasions when I have reraised someone with middle pair. I will post the result of the hand later, but any *constructive* suggestions or criticism would be appreciated.

Dan Henderson and Matt Lindland by NotSorry, October 08

The mma gym that I've been training at (team quest) recently moved to a larger building, any ways we got word today that Dec 5th they will be holding a "grand re-opening" as such Dan Henderson and Matt Lindland will be there hosting the event which includes a seminar, bbq and then an after party. I'm excited as all hell, been a fan of Hendo for nearly a decade it seems, and getting the chance to not only meet, but train and chill with for a day. I'll make sure to have my camera handy.

tilt by palak, October 08

Normally my red line is slightly below 0, but today was ridiculous and days like today are the reasons my graphs always have horrible red lines...4-5 days of break even or positive red lines, and then this.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/e0e6b.miserable red line.jpg

But up on the day and still winning at 12.5bb/100 on the month...about 1.6k above ev on the month , but still 500 below ev on my shot so far. Total shot stats, 19k hands, 6.69bb/100 winrate...hope it keeps up.

poker update sep-oct by the cleaner, October 08

So I have been able to move up to 100nl beginning last month. things started fine but then i had a couple of 20bi downswings that basically crippled last month. Thanks to fpps I still managed to make like 1500$ for my monthly expenses. October I´m on a super heater flopping sets like it was my job and I´m allready up like 25bi over 15k hands. Plan is to keep on grinding till I reach 8000$ and move up to 200nl. It´s difficult cause I´m cashing out alot.

Registered for a $10 HU, then had to leave so I unregistered. I leave, come back 30 minutes later, and it says I lost.

This website is a fucking piece of shit for real.

Come on results by thewh00sel, October 08

Last session I played I think I played really well just ran poorly deep in the mtt's I was playing. If I keep playing the way I played yesterday I see good things happening in the next two months where I plan to play a good amount of poker. Caesars Classic main event is coming up at the end of October which I'm definitely playing, and I think FTOPs is in November again, so I'll be playing a lot.

Bobbie (the wife) is due December 4th so it's unlikely that I will be playing much poker in December, so these next two months will pretty much make my year complete poker-wise. Goooooo Results!

londonnn and hu by hansen jr., October 08

Came back to sweden 2 days ago after living with fazi for a week. Was sick fun and fazi really knows how to ball it out so we had a great time. Went to some club called jelaouse w/ fazi his friends and my brother where peachy, evan, clay and twistedecho decided to join up later after agreeding to spend a minimum of £2k to get in. The club was sick fun tho and probably the sickest night ive had so far, was still way drunk at 1pm the day after. Biggest beat of the night was that I got my 1 week old 3gs stolen, tilt.

twistedecho, peachy, me, evan and my brother and some random girls

I ran pretty bad pokerwise tho and managed to get stuck 7k pretty quickly while playing some donk heads up with faz. Last night in London I took 5,2k back from him tho after a 5 hour session and now after today im breakeven with the live I played in london.
