What is a good sample size of hands to know whether or not long term u are beating a limit? It doesnt matter to me about moving up or anything like that I just want to know what a good sample size of hands would be to know if that limit has been beat.

usually if u grind enough buy ins for the next limit, i think that's proof enough whether you do it fast or slower.

its really impossible to tell, variance is truely a loooot bigger factor than most people imagine.

if u are crushing a limit for like 20bb/100 over 100k hands then its probably safe to say you are a winner, however even with like 5bb/100 over 100k hands you could still be a significant loser at the limit =[

to be completely sure somewhere around crownroyals figure is probably true, but after say, 50-100k hands you can begin to get an indication of if you can beat it or not~

I like to have a 20k hand sample and a realistic look back at how you feel you ran and what your EV says etc. before I start taking shots

I'm kind of aggressive and have a huge desire to always play the highest level I can so I'm a little aggressive in this regard. however its always taken me more than 20k hands at a limit before I've successfully moved up (not including nl2 or nl5)

The biggest thing is how comfortable do you feel? Do you need the money in your bankroll or is it no problem to move back down and have an overall break-even month or 2?

can someone explain to me how u can be a loser when u have a 5bb/100 WINrate? I know personally im like a -5bb/100 loser but rakeback puts me on the positive

If youre playing 24 tables at a time I'd say maybe 100k before you know if youre beating it. If you play 2-4 and study players I think it'd take about a few hours to know for sure if you beat the limit.

Now I really am a busto. Thanks FTP.

if you are winning at 5bb/100 that could be because you are the luckiest son of a bitch. it doesnt neccessarily mean you are good enough to breakeven/profit over an infinite sample of hands.
someone with the skill to win at 5bb/100 could run bad and lose at -5bb/100 , or someone with the skill (lack of) to win (lose) at -5bb/100 could get real lucky and be a winner.
obviously if ur winning at 5bb/100 ur technically a "winner" but it could just be luck, hence loser longterm.

dl the excel chart. it'll show you the probability that you're a long term winner after you fill in the necessary info

and the number of hands it would take for a certain winrate to converge with a % level of confidence, given standard variation + winrate over a sample number of hands

prob like 100k, but within the first 10k hands you should be able to know if you r capable of holding your own or not based off things besides final money won...like ev and such

not true at all. EV graphs mean plenty, people just often misuse them.

Other things to consider.
1. How many regs are giving you problems.
2. How often do you get in situations where you don't know what your doing.
3. How often are you running into situations where you are cooling someone or being cooled and what amount of your total winnings is that amounting to.
