mid month review by Zalfor, November 17

Well, after losing ~2.4k in the first week of the month, i decided to quit poker and focus on getting a job.

I got a great job now in Philly, so I'll prob. be around that area sometime next year if anyone wants to hit me up.

No poker until i get through all my job stuff, but overall I have been life +EV.

only thing i'm looking for now are girls hahaha

=)

WTF
I was playing too much poker last 12 days, my job was very busy and I also got a cold on monday -> When I came back from work I had 0 self control and playing in that condition would be an equivalent to burning money using a high yield flamethrower.

Tilt Report
Since I started 4 tabling 16k hands ago I have burned 8BI including these.
When I say burn I mean it - all those stacks I made a good decisions in my mind but my hands did the exact opposite, only for me to stare at the screen and ask myself wtf just happened.
This equals some 400 PTBB during 16k hands which is a rate of 2.5PTBB/100

Please note that this does NOT include losses caused by my second leak - acting based on small sample or one single read that I do consciously

Plan
I ain't moving up before this doesn't go down to 2BI per 10k hands at maximum for the first leak.
Hell, I will actually move down to NL25 and grind the spewed BIs from yesterday before playing NL50 again.

The second leak will not be much of a problem as the higher the stakes get the more I will play with the same villains. Still its annoying and it is my rolling goal.

Learning
On the positive side, I have re-signed to Deuces Cracked, and to my pleasant surprise there is second season of Real life NL grinder, the bestest poker series for lowstakes player ever.
There is also Road to Robusto series where Tubasteve grinds from NL10 like I did a couple weeks ago.

You can see that his thinking process is nowhere near the level of the high stakes coaches (Where I want to see every video like 5 times I stare with open mouth like 2-3x per hour), but still its a good series in terms of fast moving through stakes.

Thanks for reading

utterly owned... by piratematerial, November 17

such a weird match. this guy called EVERY 3 bet i made. EVERY ONE. and every single one i made for value. he almost never 3bet himself maybe like 2% or something. AND HE UTTERLY DESTROYED ME. it was like he was soulreading me or something.. took like $1300 off me. i got c/r on the flop, on the turn on the river. on the river it seemed to be for value everytime. but on the turn and the flop it was quite balanced i guess. i tried to rebluff him, to slowplay, to play fast to make him play for floating, to bluff. i really tried my hardest but he was raising when i had nothing, raising when he had me beat and folding when i had a nutlike hand.
here is his tableratings. appears to be a somewhat skilled amateur player. who can stand his ground on 1/2 HU nl but if a guy like that owns me so fucking hard really i have no place there.

i just don't get it how the fuck he figured this out. he bluffs me on the turn (like i suspect he does quite some, but he also uses this for value with trips for example) so i float him to rebluff in position on the river and he fucking calls with A hi. nobody owns me so hard as to raise me on the turn to get more money in the pot to call me on the river with A hi. WTF...

my computer crashed so im playing without HM but i was single tabling and paying a lot of attention here are the reads i made during the match, in addition i had a lot of stuff in my head ofcourse:

u nl
called down met draws zelf nut draws

anyway, computer crashed. no HM. forced to play on a laptop, which i dislike, bankroll destroyed last week. dropped another $1300 right now. i'm forced to move down. i was splitting action already between 100nl and 200nl but now im really forced. sucks so much.

Working on my game by edzwoo, November 17

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/dc525.novhu.PNG
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/194f9.novhu2.PNG

I like blogging when I'm winning as opposed to losing because I feel like I can talk about whatever I want. When I'm losing, I feel obligated to talk about how some fish was getting hit by the deck and kept rivering me or whatever.

But yeah after the losing session at NL200, I decided to take a break from NL200 for a few reasons:

1. I don't like to reject games, so I often end up playing some presumably good regs (probably not very +EV)
2. I have to wait too long to get a good game
3. I'm really not in the mood for big swings

I am a HUGE fan of taking shots as fast as possible as long as you have the discipline to move down, but I'm not really in a hurry to try and move up, and I also have to start cashing out some money on a semi-regular basis.

But anyway all that aside, my hourly at NL50 was sickeningly strong because of constant stream of fish, so I thought, "hey, maybe I can like 9+ table NL50 HU". I honestly think I'm +EV doing that, but you can see how that went via my two higher volume sessions. I'm not really sure how my VPIP/PFR dropped so much, but my redline was TANKING. I ran like total crap, but gave an honest review of the sessions and am pretty sure the additional tables didn't make up for my drop in winrate.

If you've been following all my sessions, you might have noticed my 3bet% is a bit inconsistent (especially last session). Originally my 3bet range was something like JJ+,AQ+,air. Air wouldn't really be air so much as Ax,Kx, sometimes Qx (or any two depending on gameflow). I originally didn't want to 3bet hands like KQ for value simply because in a theoretical situation, I would throw up if I got 4bet and it has so much postflop value (good for a c/r on missed boards with usually 6outs). That's changing a bit now; KQ is pretty much like AK in a 3bet pot just without the ability to hero someone, and I'm rarely dominated because those hands 4bet me anyway.

I've noticed when people get tilted from 3bets, they start calling your 3bet with anything they raised pre with. So I pretty much went crazy on my value range this session and it worked out nice. Sometimes they just totally give up trying to fight back and assume they'll stack you when they get a monster, which is hilarious. I have never found someone who 4bets me consistently yet.

But yeah, I picked up on some leaks I have, but I think it's the same leak that everyone has. You know, the one where you have a pretty strong hand like top pair but villain bets big on the river when the middle card pairs, but at the same time all draws miss and you decide whatever call? Only to be shown trips and you realize, "man this guy would never bluff me in the first place!" This is mostly for small/medium sized pots (which I think are the most important pots to win in poker since they're a lot more frequent than bigger pots!). The bigger pots I've been pretty disciplined in folding when I need to.

Okay, it's 6am and I haven't slept. I'm not even sure what I'm rambling about, so I'm going to sleep.

GL at the tables.

post book results + coolers by RICHI8, November 17

Last few sessions have been really lame. Today I recoreded a nice -4.5 buy ins. My last 5k hands I ran 10 buy-ins under expectation alone and my W$SD is around 45. lol I'm playing really well but I'm just getting coolered and setup like no other. My poker game has grown leaps and bounds these past few weeks though so I'm extremely happy for that and I know I'm killing NL50 and will continue to do so. I wish I wasn't running like ass or I'd be rolled for NL100 shots. Hopefully I can get my BR to $2500 and take some by the end of the year.

I'd post hand histories of all the suck outs and setups but that doesn't matter and it just crowds the blogs imo. I'm going to post some graphs. After 11.1k hands is when I read SlowHabit's new book. Take note of the HUGE difference in my red line. This book IS the real deal.

This is my November month to date:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/674f7.novmtd16th.jpg

This is since reading the book:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/65781.sincebook.jpg

I've already played almost 20k hands this month which is awesome because that's my regular monthly hand goal! I'm aiming for 35k hands.

:) by CrownRoyal, November 16

First of all I want to publicly apologize to my staker. I promised him I would play huge volume for a month and make us a nice profit and I pretty much failed that in every way possible. I started the stake off playing at least 4k hands a day, making good money and everything seemed to be perfect. I started to lose money (like -10 buyins in EV) and took a day or two off and got called for a job interview at a local computer place. They literally hired me and I started working the day of my interview. They gave me a gym membership, I enrolled in college, started studying to get certs, i started eating healthy and started to pump some iron again (which feels great).

My life literally took a 180 and I hate poker for the most part anymore and if I didnt have to play, I didn't want to. I have structure in my life now, and that is something that I've never had. I know he is upset with how things worked out and it's no ones fault other than my own because he was great to work with.

I think I'm done playing poker as a "grinder" for now, and probably forever unless i just fail @ life and become a 5/10 live pro or win a big tournament, but that's pretty unlikely. I've fathomed the idea that when or if i fail in life to the point of chronic depression that I would just live in vegas and spend my 5/10 profits on cocaine/heroine and do that until i OD and die inhaling a line off of a hooker's ass. The game is so much harder than it was 4 years ago when I started this journey and I never accomplished anything to begin with so why stick around.

I guess the game is pretty well imbued into my system and I don't know how I could ever quit but the idea of competing against 5000 other nerds trying to do the same thing I am where I don't put in the effort to keep up and waiting for a spot that happens 1 in 3000 hands to turn an edge is fucking retarded. I seriously would not suggest anyone to get into poker in the current and future state that the game is going to be in. It's never going to get better... I feel pretty cheated because I'm self taught and now people can pay some faggot retard who ruined the game $30 a month and make my winrate be dispelled into nothing. I want all of the time I spent studying the statistics of everything and figuring formulas for fold equity and shit back. All the money i wasted playing 60/40 as a newb to increase my hand reading ability, everything. Fuck you carddrunners and everyone teaching random faggots and not people you care about how to win at poker. I hope you guys rot in hell with your $30 a month dues and people start not watching your videos anymore because you are now a losing player and no one wants to watch you play so you get fired and work at mcdonalds because you dropped out of college.

I've wanted to get that out for a while now. Honestly though, that's my life update and when my body starts to look like I used to I'll post some results. Also, I don't plan on disappearing if that's what you was hoping for I'm probably still going to play poker casually and I just love this community as much as it hates me and I don't feel the need to leave. I think i MIGHT play a $200 tournament this weekend @ the local casino. There will probably be around 200 people in it with a good structure and I just don't know that I can pass EV like that up. Also, fuck the girl in the blog below.

That is all

Cooler Check by k2o4, November 16

Had a solid weekend volume wise, mediocre results wise. Played a little over 9k hands. Had a heater on friday and then ran pretty crappy on saturday and sunday. Oh well, still made some money. Sat/Sun I lost about half the heater earnings, hah.

Just have a few hands that I am 99% sure are coolers but wanted some outside confirmation. I think it might be partly the need to have someone else go "yeah that sucks" heh. But I'd rather be sure I'm not spewing.
