Just spent the last two hours having dreams that I was in WW2 as civilian somewhere in Europe.
Kinda long and at times random, but I must say I don't think I've ever had such an intricate dream I've remembered this well. Also the fact that when I would wake up, I could fall back asleep and continue to dream about the same subject.
Started out pretty weird - I had a dream within a dream starting with being in an apartment with another couple whom somehow creates a zombie apocalypse. Then it kinda just went straight into the main dream. I was in some sort of Industrial city which was pretty shitty with a few family members. We proceeded to get onto an elevator going to the 6th floor - during which the elevator went into a free fall and we were smashed back into the floor level, everyone was fine but the elevator had again attempted to reach the 6th floor I had just pressed the emergency button and it had for one reason or another stopped.
We then all got out, no one seriously injured and was greeted by a hotel manager who insisted on us coming back and getting any suite we wanted, we agreed and said we'd be back later in a week so we could use it then. My mother and grandparents went off back home but my brother and I stayed and decided we'd hit up a local pub. I was getting ready to walk and my brother looked at my strangely and told me we'll take the train. So as we are at the tracks waiting for a train to take us deeper into town I tell my brother about my dream about a zombie apocalypse, he dismisses it and I become very worked up about this. I even get to the point of telling him it'll happen at 4:00 pm this afternoon and we should hit up a gun store and really load up as much as we can - and if I'm wrong after 4 we can just return all the stuff we had bought - still he denied. So I asked him where he had a gun, he said he had a few in his house. At that time I see a military jeep fly by us and park in a field only accross the street, men jumped up and quickly set up a mortar aiming at a large Industrial Building a block off.
Before we knew it Military was all over in the field, I turned to my brother and started to cry out something to the extent of 'THIS IS IT' We hesitantly walked closer and watched them begin to fire off shell after shell into this building until it finally collapsed, after a while of standing there in disbelief I was approached by an dubious looking infantryman. I got the immediate feeling we needed get the fuck out of that place. As my brother and I began to book our asses to his house (a mile down the road) we looked back and saw Military (OUR GUYS) go into the train station, which was followed by gunfire and blood curdling screams. We then started to hear the whizzing bullets which were being shot at us as well.
As soon as we reached my brothers house he ran to get us each a gun and some ammo. he came back and got a rifle and handed me his pistol (idk why but I was pissed I got a pistol) anyways so we are both pretty fucking scared at this point and close all the blinds, turn off all the lights and wait. Before we knew it a bright moon had arisen and we started to see soldiers storming buildings and neighboring houses. As they opened the door to the house we opened fire, two fell but three burst through the door and were running right to our location, we bust out a window and hit the ground running deeper into the residential area. We begin to notice there are fucking military everywhere and we get trapped behind an apartment building. We end up busting down a window and hop down into a room of about 4 guys lanning (lol wat) we tell them the situation and none of them seem to believe us. One of them makes a joke about how fucking crazy we are and he's going to call the cops, he walks to the window and gets a bullet right to the head. Everyone jumps up and we tell them we gotta keep moving.
We continue running through the apartment and soon are at the entrance of the complex facing a few small houses/condos. We wait for a break and book it across the street. One of the guys at the lan and I make it safely across the street before we hear gunfire. I look back and see the other two guys from the Lan party get shot as my brother also makes it across. We frantically are looking around for someplace safe and we enter the first place without the doors locked. We run in on a father and daughter who look just as scared as we are. They tell us to hide and that the father will handle this. I jump into a closet and close the door. I hear a knock and the father opens they have some sort of Random Conversation. I hear two men enter (wtf he sold us out) he runs around the place a bit then heads out.
I get out of the closet and ask them wtf is going on. He responded, "They're killing all of the jews that have brought the apocalypse our way."
Apparently I was Jewish in my dream?
So we spend at least a day hiding in this man's house. Everyday we see more and more military coming around, patrolling the streets. But they soon vanish. There are no infantry patrolling, soon a massive group of civilians begins to pool outside the house we're at, they are talking about going on the offensive before they return, everyone begins to agree. My brother and I also end up in the street where we then see two infantrymen begin to walk towards the group, I go to grab my pistol (it was inside the house)... Fuck I was done for, they began walking towards me and I could hear gunfire in the distance, the crowd scattered, there were only maybe 10-20 of us there now. As they got closer you could see them prepare to fire. BAM one of them goes down, the other one spins around and is looking directly at the father who had saved us earlier, he's holding my pistol. He goes to fire again but the pistol jams or something and he immediately puts his hands up and drops to his knees. I see the soldier walk over to him with this gun pointed at his head. In almost a slow motion cut scene I drop to the ground and grab the rifle of the fallen soldier and shoot and catch the man in the right arm. He drops his rifle and drops to the ground, which my brother picks up and finishes him off. We run back inside the house for some reason and begin to look out the windows.
Soon there were more military on the scene, looking around anad busting into a few houses, they drag people out of their homes and into the street and begin demanding they tell them where the people who murdered the men were. They cower and point to our house. The men then proceed to kill the witnesses and begin to run straight at the house. We open fire from the windows but are soon overpowered. We needed to bail, again >_<
So we run out through the backyard. We look around to a house we can go to. there is a completely pitchblack house to the left I notice and I tell them I'll check it out, I run over and there is a garage in the backyard, I enter and find two random teenage girls hunched in a corner. I tell them they'll be okay and I turn back and tell everyone to get over here. Everyone enters the garage and we begin to see the growing need to GTFO out of this place.
It's brought up that there is a river that dissects two territories about a mile away, and once we get across that border we'd be safe. We decide it's better than dying here.
So we begin to set out to the river, as we pass we see a neighbor man in a window who motions to keep going as he begins to turn off all of his lights.
We get to the river and notice there is no way any of us can just swim across it, it's too wide and the current would be too strong. But there is a part of the river which is fairly narrow only two blocks up from where we were. We run up to the long grass that the river had provided us as cover and begin to make our way towards the narrow part in the river, at first the place was pretty empty only a few patrols far away, but now we had noticed jeeps and other military vehicles coming pretty close to us. We can see the narrow part just up ahead. We must have been spotted because I started to hear that whizzing sound of bullets followed by screaming. Soon it seemed like we were cannon fodder as we were being shot from everywhere, I looked back and we had lost the father and daughter, as well as one of the teenage girls. It was only the other teenage girl, one of the guys from the LAN, my brother, and I. At this point we are swimming across the river not really giving a fuck. at one point i feel a piercing burn in my right arm in two places. I find it more and more difficult to use that arm while swimming, again I get struck as I wash up finally on the other side. The others never made it as far as I did. As I feel myself dying I cry out, "WE'RE PEOPLE!!!!!! WE'RE HUMANS!!!!!!!!" Which only seemed to get chuckles from the troops who had just killed us. Soon it faded to black and I had awoken in a room with my brother a few other people and also my mother.
From this point on I was able to wake up, fall back asleep and continue to have random WW2 dreams along the same subject line of the dream above, I seemed to know about the fact I had died in my previous dream and knew exactly the situation I was in when I would get into a new dream.
Anyways this is a lot longer than I had originally thought it would be, I'm sure I'll read this tomorrow and be like wtf is this???
Day 5 or so, (according to my Holdem Manager trial at any rate...10/15 days left ), and I'm almost at the finish line to reach the next stakes.
So a few thoughts on NL2 (.01/.02)
Today I've experimented with just calling with top pair when others bet into me. When I say top pair, I mean top pair good kicker that you are reasonably sure you have the best hand (non-drawy boards). Happily, calling while in position has induced a lot of microstakes players to get FPS, or fancy play syndrome. I've had 3 players bluff their stacks at me which I called down because the plays just made no sense whatsoever.
Also: people do not fold flush draws, no matter what pot odds they're given. So when I've been betting my top pair, good kicker (first to act) into a board with 2 suits and they call and another card of the same suit comes down, I bet and fold to their raise without thinking twice. I looked over my hand histories and calling them down with top pair when they hit their draw has been a big leak of mine.
Lastly, set mining has been hitting gold recently! Phrenik reminded me of the profitability of set mining and I've been calling any raise up to 4x bb with any pocket pair and always in multiway pots. I think of my last 20 or so pocket pairs, 3-4 have hit a set on the flop. <3. SHIP ITTT
And of course, merry Christmas everyone! I still have to go see Avatar because I heard it's the best thing since sex and I'm probably the only person who has yet to see it. (Don't ruin it for me!!)

The first two happened in the first 3 hands...last one a while later, got dealt kings twice in a row. Merry Christmas to me from stars lol?
Since I have 100BI I'm starting to take shots at 200nl. So far it's going pretty well and I'm still adjusting to the 200 dynamics. Yesterday I was still getting used to the bet sizing and mixed in some 100nl tables cause I was stupid. Today I played all 200nl tables instead
few things I noticed, shortstacks are retarded at this level, alot more preflop aggression at this level, and people are just more aggro in general and likes to bet compared to check like those damn nits on 100nl. I guess I'll need to cut down on some tables because I haven't really developed good reads or know the players of 200 as well as I know 100 where I'm just comfortable enough to know whats going on.
Anyway today ran into shitload of coolers (ran into 4 4ofkinds which is wtf)and made alot of -ev bluffs. I'm playing my retarded lag game from the get go which is stupid. I see same thing happening when I started 100nl, as I didn't really know what I was doing playing so many tables and have swingy days all around.
So it's xmas eve. The tables are always insanely juicy right now. Just wrapping up the family celebration and will be sitting down to grind in the next 30 minutes or so. For the last 5 days I've run about 1k below EV and nothing has gone my way. If I run well tonight all of that can quickly disappear. So please, one time, run good! That's all I want for Christmas.
I am done with cash games for the near future. I just cannot seem to be a consistent winner. All my decent poker winnings have come from SnGs and MTTs. Cash games I have always lost money in the long run. Its a shame, because I love playing them, I just cannot win consistently. Days I will feel like I make good plays, and end up being 8 BI down, or days I play good, make 2BI. But in long run I am loosing more than winning, and it just depresses me.
So I have decided to back to the building blocks and I am dedicating all my Poker time to playing lots and lots and lots of SnGs. I have done all right in these before and I feel more comfortable there. I am gonna be starting off right down with the drags of the poker society and grinding $2-5 SnGs. I have a huge bankroll, but I am going to need it, if I want to make the correct plays.
I am off for 10 days untill I go back to work, and within that time I hope to have played alot of games. Right now I do not know what I can achieve per day, but over next few days I am looking to gauge that and set myself some targets.
If anyone does see me playing Cash games, please pester the hell out of me. Considering to exclude myself from cash games, but do not want to, as I want to at least have some self-control and not play them. If I cannot discipline myself to not play cash, then maybe I should not continue with poker.
As I am sure you know, any player has the ability to open a tournament lobby
and see who won the event (as well as who else played). A number of third
party sites gather this information from the PokerStars game software lobby
using automated programs, and compile the data into a database that players
can access.
PokerStars has been listening to recent player feedback regarding these
sites. We want to limit the amount of information that third party results
websites can publish because of our strong commitment to upholding the
integrity of our games. We oppose websites publishing player profitability
data by default for two key reasons:
Firstly, many of our players simply do not want their ROI information to be
publicly available. They have a right to privacy of this information.
Secondly, it gives an unfair advantage to those players who are able to
obtain ROI data about players who have not consented for their information
to be shown.
We have been working with various sites that currently display player
profitability data and the vast majority of those sites have agreed to
modify the default settings for the display of player data. Sites who are
working with us have agreed that profitability data will only be available
on players who have themselves specifically opted in, thus giving their
consent for their profitability data to be displayed on that service. The
default setting will be that tournament cashes only will be displayed.
The sites who intend to comply with our data policy also agree to allow
players to opt out totally from their service, so that zero information will
be displayed about them.
Among the sites that have agreed to comply and that will remain permitted
are officialpokerrankings.com, cardplayer.com and thepokerdb.com. Note that
these sites might not necessarily be able to show all the information they
currently display, once opt-in is fully functional.
Those sites that refuse to remove player profitability and ROI data by
default will be prohibited for use in conjunction with the PokerStars
Client. PokerStars will enforce such prohibitions by changing the PokerStars
software such that the prohibited sites will not be able to extract the data
from the PokerStars client without either the permission of PokerStars, or
the players concerned.
We believe that this policy will deliver on our commitment to listening to
players who have overwhelmingly asked us to prevent sites from publishing
their private information, while not being heavy handed against the many
players who are not aware of the rules against them, or who are concerned
about their browsing privacy.
As always, we welcome feedback on this policy, so please email us anytime at
support@pokerstars.com. We will work hard to deliver the best possible poker
games, with the highest standards of integrity now and into the future.
If there is anything else we may assist you with, please do not hesitate to
contact us again.
Kind regards,

Subject: website problem
>It has been brought to my attention there is widespread use of a site "
>pokertableratings.com" where anyone can go on and look at my detailed
>playing statistics. Is there anyway i can have my information blocked?

Well, I was thinking about the approximate possibility to use the live poker habbits in online gaming. There are few bigger spots I would like to mention/and read other people's opinion on these subjects.
One thing I prolly don't understand is why it is so 'fishy' to play 1-2 tables.Maybe I haven'r reach the moment when variance will go against me, but my experience so far shows that when playing less tables, you could take advantage of it going on levels you couldn't afford with current BR.And with deeper reads my win ratio is about 1.5BI per 200-300 hands.I would be happy to read any analysis and thoughts on this subject, cause I really don't see what's is so significant in multitabling except the rake ofcourse.I'm talking mostly about 50-200NL games.I play with 3-4 BI and most of the time it's more than enough for 1-2 tabling.
I was going to post a bigger update with Nov/Dec results but I'll do it later, now I just wanted to share with you guys that I'm going to the PCA with my cousin who won a seat (I played in that satellite too but my AJo lost to T4o... I'll play another on Sunday though) so see you there I guess !!
First they give me a virtually free Supernova, and now they let me keep it easily with reduction to 7,500 VPP/month needed.
You guys can't imagine how much this change means to me, I was going to try to hold SN with having a fulltime job and grinding NL50/NL100.
Less pressure to multitable, less pressure to play tilted, but still enough pressure to keep me playing decent volumes.
And the extra bonuses just mean that I can hit my goal of $10k BR in 9 months with just rakeback. Sweeet.
Xmas
Merry Christmas everybody,
I am spending Christmas with my Girlfriend. I will be cooking some traditional Czech food, clean the flat, have long phone calls with my family and most of all don' play a single hand, don't look at any hands posted and check LP only if there are more presents for me :o
The Start. The degeneracy. Oh well.by MadJukes, December 24
I was definitely an online poker degen. I admit it. Having to make the transition from live poker (where I'm a pretty regular winner at NL50 and NL100) to online, I crashed and burned several times. I've donked off my bankroll maybe 10 times now. In my opinion, there are several crucial differences between live and online play.
1) The body language. Call it tells, call it reads, but everyone gives off something as they play. How they put their chips in, how long they took to study their cards, whether they're looking at you intently to see if you'll just raise or call, etc. Live poker provides an abundance of information to make your decisions to the point where you can play your opponent and not even your cards. Raise them when you feel they're weak. Online, there are far fewer "tells". (Sure, you can argue timing tells, but everyone will admit that there's less to work with). Therefore, online, you can only play solid fundamental poker to be a winning player.
2) Bankroll management. Being a live player, I'd usually bring 2 or 3 buyins to a table game and leave if I lost it all. Online, if you're playing a stake with 2 or 3 buyins, you're going broke in no time. The variance is much higher (arguably because there's more unknowns).
3) Multitabling. For experienced online 9-max grinders, getting into hands out of position and with marginal hands spells death. In live, position matters just as much, but playing marginal hands can be hugely profitable.
So, being brilliant me, I start playing online poker with at a 4 BI stake, trying to run bluffs and representing hands without having an image, and playing marginal hands and being dominated preflop by the multi-tablers. Easy to say, I lost my first 200 very quickly. Rinse, repeat, being a marginal losing player.
Four days ago, an experienced poker player (and the admin of the school's poker club) set me up with a few starters and rules. Holdem Manager, $20, and multitabling 9-max at ONLY .01/.02 tables on pokerstars.
Cool. Easy. Penny poker.
Except I'd be making more money at ANY job. So after slowly grinding up to $33 at an painful pace, I decide that I'll take a shot at NL25. Cmon, they're not that tough. 20 hands later and a bad beat later, I'm sitting and staring at an empty bankroll yet again.
So now, my personal goal is to start fresh again from $20 and move up the stakes, addressing all the differences I mentioned earlier between live and online. 20 BI before moving up to the higher stake. Dropping when I have less than 20 BI's at my current stake. Playing better hands preflop. Playing in position. Multitabling.
We'll see how it goes! Here's the chart so far, after 4 days...
At around 5k hands, I tried taking my 10-tabling to 18-tabling. Bad leap-- I suddenly found myself with no time to make decisions and couldn't keep track of what was happening with what. Lost like 7 BI's. At the latest stretch, I've been finding myself with QQ vs KK/AA and AK vs KK/AA all-in preflop a lot. Another problem is fishies calling 3-bets with low pocket pair (anywhere between a .20-.30 preflop at a .01/.02 table) and hitting their set and stacking me. x(
I'm about 12 BI away from moving up to NL5! I'm hoping to hit it by the 26th (with no poker on Christmas, obviously). And happy holidays everyone!
Oh and PS: If anyone ever wants to give advice or discuss how I played, any leaks, etc, I'm more than happy to listen and chat.
Weee, man I'm up early again, it's 07.00 here on x-mas morning.
I feel really good, yesterday my sessions were so good, not been that good in a long time.
First I had one 1hou30 min one, ended up 2bi, then later in the evening I had one with 7bi up. So 9bi yesterday, felt really great, even though it was just on 20nl xD
I'm just gonna stay with my siblings and dad for the x mas, and in the evening go visit my mom, eat some rib and spend the time with my family, maybe I'll get a session in when nobody's looking. I'm also thinking bout going to the gym now, since everyone is sleeping :x
Man, I'm so happy about one of the presents, I don't have to much money, and one of my mates, Tiltyboy/Dokosoko has everything and nothing I'd buy him would seem enough, so I made him something instead. I collected all the best high stuff material and made a huge book, finer details of combonotorics or how you spell it (I don't understand that shit lol) polarization, best chapters from the Cole South book, best stuff from that Tri guy, the most famous Obama quotes, and it ended up 83 pages, and I got one of those perms, and made hole, and put it in this thingy to be read, and I spent 1 hour drawing on the cover to write Poker kinda cool. Maybe a bit corny, but atleast it's a present lol xD
I'm gonna go do something now <3 Have a blast ya'll
