I think poker is an evolutionary game. Obviously. 5 years ago it was filled with fishies, loose and passive, before sharks came along to gobble them up. Then higher stakes became more and more aggressive as 3-betting and 4-betting light came around. And now there's 4-bet bluffs? What??

I've decided to coin my OWN wicked cool play. I've taken set mining to a whole new level...I call it "BOAT mining".

At the flop, some people advocate raising to kick out the draws or at least make them pay to see it. No. Obviously I've only reached step one, hitting a set. But I'm not trying to set mine, I'm boating mining. So letting him chase clearly lets me chase as well because I didn't hit my hand yet.
Obviously at the turn, either vince37_m or 7NIKITA7 has the completed flush and with a $.22 call to hit 10/45 (we can assume one of them has 2 spades, meaning IF someone else has the 5s, they have a spade of some other sort that leaves me with 45 cards to draw from). So I'm getting 1:4.5 odds of hitting a boat or quads with 1 card left and I need to pay $.22 (of my $2 stack) to see it to potentially stack off.

Dude, it's all about chasing cards at NL2. Hey. Dont judge.

And once I hit that last 8...HOLLA!!

Thanks 7NIKITA7. Ship itttt.

Oh and Merry Christmas guys

LOL if it was heads up, this wouldn't be terrible but with 4 people in the pot this is an absolute atrocity, especially considering how the flop was played by everyone.

NeillyJQ: I really wanted to prove to myself I could beat NL200, I did over a small sample, and believe Ill be crushing there in the future.

Haha I wasn't being serious when I said that. I figured I'd let the pot build up a bit instead of taking down such a small pot with a set. If I had raised, he would have called (obviously at NL2) to hit the flush and I would have been forced to fold a set since he would have fired a much bigger bet into a bigger pot. The way I played it, since I only called, if he hit a flush, the amount he'd bet would be much smaller, as relative to the pot size. I'd have massive implied odds if I hit a boat.

Hmmm...day 5-6? I started off multitabling 8 FR, but now I do around 16-18.

lol. Ouch. That hurts.

But if you think about it, it's true. Knowing the field I'm playing against, nobody folds a draw. If I bet/raise it up and they end up hitting it and I know they hit it, why would I call a bet? By then, the pot size would have been extremely large and it would be largely a waste to call a 3/4 to pot sized bet.

On the other hand, if he bets, I call, and maintain a small pot size, I still take it down if the flush draw doesnt hit, or I'd be able to continue with massive implied odds if the flush draw does hit. My plan was to raise the turn if there was no 3rd club.

I also understand the standard way of playing it is to raise the flop and drag the pot down there or let him continue calling with bad odds. Anyways, I'm just experimenting with different ways of playing certain hands certain ways. I'd love anyone to correct me and give me their view on why I'm wrong/they're right/why a certain play is better. And obviously I wouldn't be playing it like this if there was a preflop raise.

your equity vs a flush draw on the flop is 75%. since youre so far ahead of this hand, and you know they never fold a flush draw, make sure they put a lot of money in now while theyre still chasing it. get money in when youre ahead.

the flush draw is going to miss more than 80% of the time on the turn. with a big pot size on the turn, you can again charge them a large amount to continue chasing.

the flush wont get there by the river the majority of the time. if you dont put money in on the flop and turn when theyre still chasing, you wont get any value out of it bcuz flush draws wont call river bets when they miss.

youre AHEAD on the flop and turn if the flush isnt there. if the flush hits on the turn and youre chasing a boat, youre putting money in when youre behind bcuz you have about 22% equity with a set vs a flush on the turn.

hope that helps you see the flaw in your logic.
