Holiday! by killmepl, July 05

My family went to my grandpa for a month so I have some time for myself :D
First think was to buy some pot. I am currently so high. watching House episodes from 6th season that I didnt watched because of exams. Had few sessions on Ladbrokes (and I'm pretty comfortable with the software, its comparable with pokerstars), 11bi+. It's pretty neat to win from time to time.
Currently I'm thinking about buying a Holdem Manager when I will have enough bankroll.

My friends gave me super-cool zippo lighter recently.

It's really nice.

At last I'm grinding out my way to nl10 and hopefully nl20

Stay tuned.

Only 2 years left... by Gawuss, July 05

...till I'll be able to play the WSOP ME I turn 19 today - this is my last year of being a teenager.

I've obviously failed to achieve my poker goals for June. I played only 11k hands, instead of the planned 40k. There is too much going on during the summer to spend every day in front of the computer.

I've started questioning my game a bit more lately and I've even moved down for a while to fix some leaks and try to play more solidly. I bought HEM and I like it but it lacks some of the stats I used to use in PT3. I guess it's possible to add them somehow but I'll see to it later

A few days ago I got my A-levels results. I scored only 43% in Polish but whatever, the rest looks better:
-maths (basic level) - 88%
-English (basic) - 100%
-English (advanced) - 99%
-geography (advanced) - 55%

I'm pretty happy about it. I've already applied for BBA in Management at Kozminski University in Warsaw. I'm going to move in with my 2 really cool buddies and I'm really looking forward to it

I've watched 2 very good movies recently. One of them is obviously Toy Story 3 which made me feel like a child again - back to oldschool
The other one is "Mr. Nobody". It's kind of similar to "The butterfly effect". It tells a story of a boy who has to decide with which parent he's going to live. Depending on who he chooses his life takes a different path.

Nice song from "Mr. Nobody"

And a classic Randy Newman's song

Good luck to everyone,

Mike

God I hate live poker by Carthac, July 05

Is there any efficient way to play live poker small stakes without relying on luck?

Sitting at the table, 1-2NL game, been folding mostly and observing people around me. I get A-Q suited in the cutoff. I raise 3 limpers to 8x the bb (16 dollars), trying to isolate the best I can. Behind him I get 2 callers, and the original 3 limpers call. 6 players at a 9 player table seeing the flop at the price of 8 big blinds.....

Anyways, flop comes Q-3-4 rainbow. It gets checked to me and I bet a little over half pot. 3 people call, 2 fold. 4 people going to the turn in a monstrous pot. Turn brings an 8. First limper shoves, and gets called. I figure my A-Q has to be no good and fold it. Last guy calls behind me

Guy shows 3-8 OF DIAMONDS. The guy that called him shows POCKET FUCKING 10'S and says "I didnt think ya had it so I called." Last guy called the huge pot with 5-6 offsuit. Turn brings a blank, and 3-8 takes it down....

I was utterly stunned by what I had seen, and was left thinking, with the amount of hands these people are willing to take to showdown over huge bets no matter what the bet size, pot odds, implied odds, etc., is there an efficient way to play against these types of people, especially when there are many of them at the table?

Seems like the big hands you do get really don't have that much equity if you have to play against more than 3 players every flop : /

Boycott Pstars.fr by RaiZ, July 04

In 1 hour, at 6 pm aka 11 TL.net time there will be a lot of frenchies that'll sitout in order to talk about Pstars and their insane "more than what it was supposed" rake. If there's any .fr players fell free to do the same.
We will, including myself, sitout from all the tables we can and protesting for as much as we can until pstars hears us.
Sorry for those who went to .fr to play at this hour.
Hope you understand.

Regards.

Clinton: Activists Being Crushed By 'Steel Vise' A by k2o4, July 03

Got the title from Huffington post where they talk about how Clinton is doing some good work trying to raise support for social change and government watch dog groups around the world. But then I saw this sentence and was like ?????

She recommended that the organization set up an independent means of monitoring repressive measures against social advocacy groups, and that the U.N. Human Rights Council do more to protect civil society. She announced that the U.S. would contributed $2 million to support the work of embattled nongovernmental groups.

$2 million? $2 million??? that's all? It's like they said "1 million isn't enough, let's make it 2". They couldn't even go to the double digits and at least do 10 million. But there's trillions of dollars for war spending?

If you want to know a person's priorities, look at the places he spends his money. If you want to know a government's priorities, look at where they spend their money.
