Clinton: Activists Being Crushed By 'Steel Vise' A by k2o4, July 03

Got the title from Huffington post where they talk about how Clinton is doing some good work trying to raise support for social change and government watch dog groups around the world. But then I saw this sentence and was like ?????

She recommended that the organization set up an independent means of monitoring repressive measures against social advocacy groups, and that the U.N. Human Rights Council do more to protect civil society. She announced that the U.S. would contributed $2 million to support the work of embattled nongovernmental groups.

$2 million? $2 million??? that's all? It's like they said "1 million isn't enough, let's make it 2". They couldn't even go to the double digits and at least do 10 million. But there's trillions of dollars for war spending?

If you want to know a person's priorities, look at the places he spends his money. If you want to know a government's priorities, look at where they spend their money.

in need of stake by shaw67193, July 03

looking for a stake. 3bb/100 winner at 100nl, i'd like to play there for about a month or two (approx 100k hands in total). i would also consider a stake for 50nl. i have had a total of 5 successful stakes through LP (iirc) with 3 different people. all of them have been successful for both parties. i've done 3 deals with my last backer, but after leaving him a few msn messages without a response up to this point, i'm opening up the deal to others.

if you're interested and want to discuss references/further info/terms of a deal, you can add me on msn, shiporgtfo@hotmail.com

June-present by sirracksalot, July 03

Fairly happy with these results. I had about 3k hands at 50nl, but due to some variance, needing to withdraw, as well as pay my backer (thanks hub!), I was unable to continue playing that stake. I shall be back tho! This is the relevant stuff anyways. All 25nl/pl.

Ive been 8-13 tabling since I started playing again and when you adjust for ev, my BB/100 is like 2.1 so i suppose that is improvement from my 1.5 BB/100 24 tabling. Feels good to have a drive for poker, tho its easy when my personal life is in turmoil. Poker is a good distraction. Very easy to lose myself and put aside everything else for the moment. Mostly been working out/smoking weed/playing poker/soccer. Hopefully this shit keeps up (poker that is haha).

Time to go smoke a couple bowls! Me gusta tripping pelotas.

Offering Coaching by Steal City, July 02

I'm going to test out coaching to make me feel more productive. There was a day a while ago when I cleaned my house and did some other chores and it made me feel productive and it in turn made me more confident in my poker game.

I'm not new to coaching but the only people I have coached for long periods of times are friends. I will start out with exceptionally cheap and inexpensive rates and depending on demand and how I like it, adjust those rates. I also may want to do something where I take a couple people who have been break-even 100 or 200NL players for a long time and start coaching them for a % of their gain. Since they will have been break-even players for a while, they will not be able to deny that their jump in hourly is a direct result of me fixing up their game. This will align both of our incentives IE what's good for student is good for me and visa versa.

If anyone is interested, PM me ur Skype and I will add you. There will be no rush though and I will take things at my own pace. I will provide references and information about myself as necessary but I will only take on a couple students at first and I assume most of you know who I am.

I can provide graphs which extensively show that I solidly beat up to:
1kNLHU
1kNL6m
50nlFR (i don't play FR at mid stakes and my PTR has me as a small winner at 100nl because I 24 table it sometimes to get a break from high stakes when I'm on life tilt)
HU sitngos up to 50$ sitngos
single table FR sitngos up to 25$ sitngos

I can provide references and other such stuff but I'm trying to keep most things on a need to know basis. I do a lot of the time start from scratch when I've been losing for too long. I made a bet like 3 years ago with floofy that I could turn 1000 play chips into 6K (using rake back FPPs I made during that time) and easily beat it. I had a big downswing something like 14 months ago where I cashed out my roll and started from 50$

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/9b12d6d98ce913db213b0c2510ced2d5.jpg

I remember I slacked off a bit too and wasn't averaging 14 hours a day even during that stint. People routinely tell me I waste so much time by doing this but it's also this caution that redisciplines me and has been the reason I have never had a shortage of money or scare that I will have to go find a real job in many years.

Also my 6m mid stakes graph on PTR is not that impressive and for a long while I barely played any 6m because I always thought I sucked at it. I looked at my holdem manager results (PS barely played means 125k hands over 2 years or w/e)

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/40bb8aac896495e6fb58c034eb465460.jpg

and I realized that I don't really suck at 6m. Since then I've played some 1knl 6m on the side just a table or two now and then and have been doing very well over a considerable sample size.

Anyway, I'm a little hesitant to release my specific stats or what my screen names are across all sites but if I decide to coach someone, I will provide ample information if they play high enough that I respect their concerns. As it is, right now, I'm actually looking maybe for more lower stakes people to coach, 1/2 to 50nl say.

Write down any questions you may have and I'll get respond to them tomorrow if I can't tonight as I am in London and it's about time to head out.

Ciao

My FTP <> Your Stars by Sanai, July 02

Hey guys,

Looking to move about $350-400 from FTP to Stars. I have reputable members who can vouch for me and I'm always willing to work out a trading arrangement that would be suitable for both parties. Thanks.

40k hands in 21 hours by longple, July 02

bleh, im done.

ive grinded out the last milestone on stars, cashed out my roll and im moving on (finally) from stars.

its patethic really, ive played over 600k hands and im only up like 2k$, + 14900$ in bonuses from FPPs/milestones. over my 4 month grindperiod on stars.

but ive broken my personal record in hands in 1 day + the longest session so far in my carrear.
21 hours, 39k hands, 24 tables of 6max play and i managed to run breakeven, ship!

i decided yesterday to just hardcore play 24 tables of 1/2 and 2/4 to get the last milestone + FPP bonus ASAP and then leave, so i did.

results:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/da14463f8f721760787fce8e9d1b68d9.jpg

i can only say im very happy overall breaking even 24 tabling 2/4 the last 8 hours straight, allthough it kinda sux that i dropped so much in the last hours.

but i got my bonus, and i got a good rollboost today from stars dear VIP rewardsystem.

im now off yet again to the EU sites for more serious gaming.

i just cant seem to keep my hands off 24 tabling when i play on stars, with tableninja its just so easy. but i dont win, ive ran alot under EV this year on stars, but w/e i made 17k$ on stars so its not all bad i guess.

hopefully i will win more on the eusites, was some time since my last visit on them, will split my roll over 2 or 3 sites, i already got a roll on 1 site and will deposit my stars roll onto another one, but i would like to get some money on svenskaspel (swedish site) aswell.

i will also treat myself with a solid 5k$ cashout to buy a HTC wildfire phone and a laptop, that will be nice, will also take a break for a couple of days, im soooo tired right now, and my bed is waiting

gl to all of you starsgrinders, probably i wont be missed since i pretty much was an empty seat when i masstabled stars =)

My Dilemma by JSquids, July 01

i currently play on FTP with no rakeback. i emailed them and there is no chance of me getting it at all... should i play on cake for the RB? should i go back to stars since they have those steller rewards and bonuses u can buy with FPP? is rake back even that important to me that i should worry? im a 4-6 tabler at 25nl / 50nl. think its still worth hassling?

im having trouble deciding.

Seoul Casino by offsuit, July 01

Hey everyone, I'm going to the Walker Hill Casino in Seoul at the end of this month, on the weekend of the 30th, and I heard there's a good run of tournaments and cash games that weekend. Is anyone going or has anyone gone to Walker Hill? Are the players there any good? I hear there's a guy who finished 29th in the WSOP main event and another guy who's made a ton of money and is considered to be the best Korean player in Korea (apparently he owns the poker room in the casino and wrote the first Korean poker book). It will be my first real live tournament [edit] by "real" I mean medium-stake--obviously not my first real tournament, but most of those are for $50 and under [/edit] (buyin is like $250~ USD?), but I think I can take it down. The competition in the town I live in isn't really strong and I've been crushing them pretty much every week since I got here 3-4 times a week. Is the competition much better in Seoul? How well do the good players there understand the game in comparison to an average pro?

Thanks for the info!

mustwatch tv series Leverage by Perisie, July 01

someone somewhere recommended the tv series Leverage and i just watched the first season.

it is a comedy action series about 5 top class thieves who band together to do major heists (1 per episode).

it is similar to Firefly, Oceans Eleven and Stargate SG1 and revolves around the team working with their individual skills (impersonator, computer wizz, action hero, mastermind) to pull off scams and heists.

it is first and foremost "fun" (lighthearted comedy).

you can watch it on alluc/tvlinks/ninjavideo (tuduo/yukuo/megavid). Again this series is called LEVERAGE and you should go watch the first s1 episode NOW!!

check my previous blog entry for a list of "hidden gem" movies to watch

June Results (12k) by PanoRaMa, July 01

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a162/sirasoni/june10graph.png

A pretty successful month I just wish I could put in more hands... honestly it's my biggest fault right now by far and I fucking hate myself for it. What's the use of studying poker and playing well when I can't maximize that edge by putting in volume?

Also I think I'm going to stop blogging monthly results. I mean it's nice to post a brag month or whatever, but I think overall it'd better suit me if I kept exactly how much I've been winning confidential. It's nice to get support from people/my friends on here whether it be a good or a bad month, but those people will support me regardless of me actually posting a blog so it's whatever. I used to keep a month blog to kind of recap the month for my future self to look back on (since I rarely ever make a "what I am going through/thinking now" type blog anymore), but I can just do that offline on MS Word or something.

Regardless, it IS mid-year, so as a mid-year update I'm well on pace for 6 figures this year which makes me happy... it would easily be a lot more if I were a normal human being capable of putting in work though.

I have 2 WSOP events coming up, the 2500 event tomorrow and the Main Event. GL to me and everyone else playing unless you're on my table (no mercy imo!)
