Cashed in the $50 10k yearly VPP Stellar Rewards thingy. Roll is at $547 now. 1424 VPP so far for August, which technically puts me way behind pace for Supernova, but I'm still well ahead of pace for making Platinum, and I know my point accumulation will accelerate as I move up, since I'll be able to earn more than I cash out. Leaving my FPP bonuses uncashed for now. Using the potential Supernova bonuses as a motivator. Haven't yet decided when to move up to $15+1. In the past I've generally moved up when I have $400, which is very aggressive, since if I lose I can always drop down and get it back in a couple days. I'm thinking about being super-disciplined and waiting until I reach $1k, which should be within a week. Also reduced my tables from 27 to 24. I can just barely do in the 27-30 range, but it's incredibly harrowing. 24 lets me relax enough that I can keep it going all day without feeling like I've been jumped in a back alley after every set.
Refined (tightened) shoving ranges, particularly in the hijack seat and when there are no antes. Experimented with some different bubble ideas. Overall I'm feeling very good and I think I've recently made a significant jump of improvement in my ability.
General notes: Bubble theory favors shoves as big stack when the stacks are progressively larger behind you (e.g. 8k, 1k, 2k, 2.5k). Theory favors raging aggression with four equal stacks (3-3.5k apiece). Theory frowns on aggression with a large stack and against three near-equal small but not micro stacks, or if they are progressively *smaller* behind you.
Edit: girlfriend is staying at her parents tonight, woohoo! So maybe I'll get in 24 or 48 or more, but first I need to unwind with a few episodes of Weeds.
P.S. Prop 8 meets the equal protection clause; Prop 8 loses. Go go civil rights! Bigots can suck it!
Took actuarial test exam P, probability, today. Needless to say I failed that shit. Why does it have to be so balls hard? Guess I'll try again in November. Just gotta keep practicing and hope it becomes easier the 2nd time around.
When they discuss the preflop action, with the SB potting, BB calling, and the MP guy re-potting, notice the way Rast and Gipson are quickly able to follow the action in terms of the size of the raises, the size of the pot...things like that. Gipson goes to say something like "When I was counting the money in my head," which was interesting to me since he supposedly has a successful background in advantage betting. I would imagine this background helps with this sort of thing.
I have been learning about Stack-to-Pot ratios lately. I believe its a pretty powerful technique. But following the size of the pot quickly is something I need to master to utilize it fully. I read that learning how to advantage bet involves a lot of practice. Similarly I'd like to practice how to follow the pot.
So, I'm looking for people to exchange some ideas on this with. (Pros/Cons of various methods, any specific techniques that might be useful, numbers to remember, things like that)
Send me a PM if you are interested.
Or, if any strong players think this is a waste of time, you can just tell me about it in my blog.
I had an interesting session today. I have never been down this many buyins in one session but I decided that I was not going to put a stoploss and see if I could handle the swing of spewing too much and losing hands that was in my favor.
This was vs a guy that was just spewing around with about anything.

I need to make $1000 in the next 8 days in poker somehow.
Sigh. Why did I take shots at nl100 when in 2 weeks I had a deadline for a certain earnings..
I don't know what to think
I think I beat nl50.. just vulnerable to tilt when I rape my own bankroll.. running sick bad the past 10k hands but I wouldn't of lost as much if I hadn't been looking at such a small bankroll.. idk.. fml forever, success at anything forever eludes me
start the month on the first really sick good. then fucking dry as hell past couple days/sessions which makes me try "create" my own luck. fuck i hate this lol

How to play like a spewing Swede!by Chinatown13, August 03
Herro there.
I decided to read up on the Blueprint by Slowhabit and got some inspiration to try out 6max again. I always felt misplaced because of the aggression compared to full ring and especially since I mostly play SNGS. I am not saying that this book is the bible or anything but in my opinion it does have some interesting tips.
One of the advices I got was to take a shot at the higher stakes. I started out at NL2 and felt that I really could be a winner and decided to go for NL5 with a 100$ BR which gives me 20BI (not really risk taking but I do not with to bust out, especially since this is my third deposit). At the moment I am 18/100bb plus rake(can not fucking believe that I played without rake before =D) over a very small sample 1600 hands according to HEM, but to me it is quite a lot since I only play four tables and about 1-2h per day.
The real purpose with my post is to show my graph, which leads to the blog title, how to play like a retard and spew away buyins!
I'm looking to hire several people for a part time job. The successful candidate must possess a strong knowledge of basketball and logic, the ability to multitask and attention to detail.
Position Description:
Your job will be to watch NBA games and to record a detailed log of events that do not show up in the box score. You will often be required to utilize your judgment and an in depth understanding of professional basketball is essential. For example, one of the required tasks is to classify every shot taken throughout the course of the game as one of the following: wide open, open, contested, heavily contested. Accuracy and attention to detail are absolutely required.
Compensation:
You will be paid per game analyzed. Each NBA game runs 48 minutes in live action time and it currently takes me roughly 2 1/2 hours to complete a single game. We are shooting to reduce that time frame to under 2 hours by developing an interface that simplifies the note taking process. The amount of time it takes will also vary depending on your concentration level, your ability to multitask, and your APM. A typical qualified and competent person will earn between $10-$12 per hour. There will also be a variable compensation plan tied to your performance which can increase your hourly rate.
I understand that the hourly rate is quite modest, especially when compared to most poker incomes. However, there is significant value in steady, stress free, supplementary income. The hours are also extremely flexible. You determine how many hours you would like to work so this job can easily fit around the other priorities in your life. There is no time and money spent on commuting since you can work from the comfort of your own home. If you are a student you can scale back or even stop all together during exams and take on more hours during your vacations. If you are a low stakes grinder, a little steady income on the side can help you weather a rough downswing.
If you are interested in the position please send me a PM.
LikeASet will be no more. Just not able to man up and sustain my A game throughout my sessions. Bad beats and stupid plays unecessarily stress me out. Cashed out my last $1000. I'm mentally putting too much weight on my own shoulders and the stress is making me play poorly too much of the time.
I have learned some good things like the enforcement of the value of a dollar, and no such thing as an easy buck. I think it would be much easier if poker income wasn't the main source of my income and if I had a lot in the bank first that way it wouldn't be that stressful and feel like such a grueling job.
Good thing is that I'm most likely getting my old waiter job back. Just going to continue finishing up my BS, working part time waiter, and saving up to buy a new desktop to play STARCRAFT :D. Also in a few months when I build up a lot of cash, I plan on playing live poker, I got a lot of live poker casino resources at my disposal, including Reno and a super soft 18+ casino. I've played live a few times already and it's super fun and easy, so far of course.
Will still linger around LP of course giving my 2 cents and taking part of the trollaments.
Feel free to laugh at my face if you ever see me on pokerstars again.
I'm going to be more diligent about making blog entries more than one time per year. Don't know if anyone reads these anyway but it's Ok. So, I was reading what I wrote last in the blog and wanted to give an update since it has been a year now.
As I said before I got married in Vegas to a girl I met for 3 weeks. And I know you are all going to be surprised but it didn't work out. While I was going through that hard time of trying to find a job, my girlfriend / wife who I will call Jennie ended up cheating on me. Sad story I know.
What happened was that she was living in Maine and I was in NY looking for a job. She ended up having sex with one of her co workers and told me when I picked her up in Boston to take her back home with me for a family reunion. That was a terrible time. I tried to stay with her and see if I could ever get over it. But one night I woke up in the middle of the night knowing something was wrong so I gave her a call and she told me, "I can't talk right now" She didn't hang up the phone and I heard her having sex with someone in the background. That one hurt a lot needless to say.
So, after that it was basically over. She called me on January 1st, 2010 and said that she was going to kill herself over some new boyfriend problem. I took her seriously and she said if I drove up 8 hours to Bangor, Maine she wouldn't do it. Of course I listened and started my journey at 1am in a blizzard made it up there by 10am. When I got up there she was a bitch to me, it was awful. I felt like shit and told her I didn't deserve any of this and left at 10pm that day. I tried driving back but I was so tired from not sleeping for over 40 hours so I pulled off to take a nap in a parking lot. I ended up sleeping for 8 hours and woke up to 3 feet of snow. I wanted to make it home so bad, that I tried to still drive home and I ended up totaling my car in Portland, Maine.
I finally got back to NY on a Greyhound and realized that I needed to change my life I was sick of it. Then as fate would have it I got this letter in the mail for a firefighting test that I thought I applied for a year ago in Portland, Maine. It turns out it was in Portland, OR. So, I said fuck it, I have a best friend who lives there I will just move. So 3 days later with one duffel bag I moved into my best friends apartment to live. I took the firefighting test failed it by 3 points . So, I started working for Greenpeace canvassing.
I met a girl there named Samantha who was absolutely gorgeous and amazing. We have been dating now for a little over 3 months and live together. Everything is amazing she is a sweetheart and an overall good person which was lacking in my previous relationship. I quit Greenpeace about a month ago and started grinding 10nl.
I'm taking two courses in a community college BioChemistry and also Organic Chemistry, so I can go to a Naturopathic Doctor school out here in Portland. It's a 5 year program but I'm really interested in Natural Medicine and think it's a great opportunity to change the paradigm of modern medicine and the bullshit that I can go on and on about but I won't.
So, While my girlfriend works at Subway saving up money before she goes full time to Community College I play 6 max 10nl rush poker. I hadn't played in a long time so it's been a struggle but I'm getting back in the swing of it. I'm going to try and post my month of August everyday in a blog and talk about hand analysis because I know I need a lot of work and would love to do poker as a side job even though it's full time now.
